I normally fast forward through RU-vid videos, not this one, not this time. Been waiting a while for you to review a Host Camper! Great video Josh. To comment on the rareness of these, they’re manufactured in Oregon, and they generally make less than 100 per year.

I love my Host Everest which is the older version of the Mamouth. Same size with 3 slides but different floor plan. My wife and I left from LI NY for a 6 week trip to the National Parks. Fantastic comfort!

That was my first choice before I saw the Yukon offering a rear dinette. Otherwise, I prefer the dinette being on the curbside for some reason. I don't like all the RV "activity" being just on the drivers side.

An f-450 pickup has less cargo capacity than F-350, you'd want to get a chassis cab instead. I'm glad you were having a lot of fun videoing this one. Hope you had a good time on your vacation too, if you read this afterwards, otherwise have a lot of fun.

OK the Death Star opening was hilarious! 🤣👍🏻🤣. As far as truck size goes, I have an older (‘01) full size cab 3500 Dodge Ram w/5.9 Cummins, and I’m not sure that thing could even handle it safely. At least not without some suspension upgrades. That is one behemoth of a camper!

Built in my hometown! Are you starting to notice a trend in Oregon built RV’s? Back in 2002 when I ended a stint in the RV industry, Oregon had the highest per-capita truck camper ownership of any state. Probably still does. These are beasts. Dually minimum. Some people even custom fit them to class 6 trucks and tow their 4x4 pickups behind. Canada loves stopping these on the road to see if the pickup is over gross. They usually are.

This is great especially for those that want a easier more portable home on the road. That wood screen panel for the bathroom are is so nice and innovative how it closes off the shower to look like a cabinet then slides to enclose the bathroom for privacy. Very nice.

My 2nd comment on here. $70-80k would be insane. I was thinking $40k ish. I just bought a brand new 2500 Duramax Silverado LT for $61.5 and a 2010 36’ Keystone Montana for $29.5k, all within the last two weeks, so $91k total. They’re working perfectly together. By the time you buy a truck to haul this, you’re looking at $150k. I’m very happy with my decision. I went the right way. Although this truck trailer has so many great features of a fifth wheel, it’s just too damn expensive imo.

I love that you're reviewing this segment of the market. I remember when my father got his first truck camper (dinette bed and a tiny bunk over cab). Had a terrible camping trip with canvas tent that rained the entire time and was the final straw, They're an oft-neglected part of the market for some people that are transitioning from camping to "glamping."

I dont know the price point, but I gather it's cheaper than something like an EarthRoamer so that you can get something "good enough" at a fraction of the cost, yet still not sacrifice the utility of a truckbed if you need it.

You’re so right about the Ford rangers a lot of people who buy them feel it’s a truck, so it’ll tow anything. I tow a 2017 StarCraft 14 RB AR ONE with mine.

Wow! Thanks for showing truck camper. I hope you will show more of them. The cabnet doors are a deal breaker more so than the carpet inside the cabnets and under dinette table. The bathroom slide is kinda scary. The best feature is the no mattress. This example is a good starting point. Thanks

Full of water and gear you could easily hit 5,000, but a lot of that will be up high. Personally I’d want more than a one ton dually. Glad to see a low profile AC. Wish more units opted that way.

@@tada6672 They were very minor and i took care of them all. If you're thinking of getting one we give it a thumbs up. We really miss the one we sold last fall. We had a great truck, too. Sold them as a package to some nice folks. Hopefully they're very happy.

Incredible, this is the 2nd truck camper I've seen built with a dry bath, Wow! The other Truck camper built similar to this one was by Lance both Lance and Mamoth Have done an Excellent job building a better. Mouse trap, ie: a Superior quality Truck Camper!👍👍👍👍👍😊😊 Keep up the Great work Josh!

Have had one since 2008 (Cascade 10.75 model). Would not trade it and have been very impressed with the livability, durability and reliability. Have been to Canada every summer and spent the whole summer in Alaska the year we retired. Works really well with a boat but takes a ton truck with dual wheels for sure. Yes, they are expensive but you get what you pay for.

Yes you can run A350 and I have A450 with mammoth. I would not recommend air bags. Go to a Spring shop and have them put in 1" spacers above above the Springs Then the truck will ride perfectly flat. Better to be on steel than hair bags

That’s an amazing set up for a very specific use and clientele. I would love to get in one to see it in real life but for my money, if I’m buying a one ton dually and spending $70-80k on a camper, I think it’ll be a fifth wheel lol. It certainly is an amazing build though.

Consider this, a truck camper has no extra tires and brakes to deal with. There is no additional registration to pay for and since it is considered an “add-on” to a pickup truck, it doesn’t even require an inspection. It also does not add axles toll fees when you go over most bridges. In many cases, it doesn’t require extra insurance although I added it to my vehicle policy for a very small amount extra.

I do not have any indication of their overall quality, but over the past couple years these campers with a dry bathroom, theater seating, fireplaces etc are far and away the most livable truck campers that I have ever seen👍

Pretty sweet RV. You missed a zero on truck model. GMC 3500 has about 5K payload but a 4500-6500 has about 10-15K payload. Nice looking RV Josh.

Yeah, whether 350 or 3500, neither is really enough & would be pretty top heavy with these. NO SHARP TURNS...

You could do it with a 1 ton dually. A gas F350 has upwards of 6k lbs payload, but both a F350 and F450 are max GVWR at 14k, so the F350 can legally haul more. Though I doubt the F450 cares about if it were "overweight". Not sure about Dodge/Chevy but I would imagine it is similar.

@@jackslayer2640 Ford says the payload is Payload: 3,893 to 4,663 lbs for all 350's just search ford 350 payload capacity. The Gross vehicle weight rating: 10,100 to 12,400 lbs not 14K Ford disagrees with you.

Love the big truck campers. My 2008 Lance 992 is large enough with two slides but I wasn’t happy with the layout. We traded it on and ordered a 2022 Lance 1172 their largest model.We went new to get the options we prefer. I looked at Host campers and eagle cap but went with Lance. I watched a lady that bought a brand new host and had quite a few problems with it and even under warranty had no where to get it fixed. Truck campers aren’t cheap but they’re versatile go anywhere way of camping and boondocking. Ours should be delivered this spring. I heard eagle cap has suspended their production.

Wooooozzzzaaaaaaa this is not amazing!!!! I loved the countertop and oven. I've never seen such accommodations in a truck camper. It would have been nice if the overhead storage had struts to hold up the door. I was surprised that there were so much storage inside the camper. Is there a reason the doors had to be solid wood and so thick? The bathroom was interesting, not sure I liked the sliding door. Finally, the blinds for the window were awesome. Great looking camper and great video, thank you Josh. I wish you and yours well.
