Helpful, thanks! With my 5700G I've OC'd the iGPU@2300MHz 1.2v, paired with 2x16GB DDR4 (4000MHz CL16) & 1TB WD SN850 NVMe SSD. Very happy with the performance! ~75FPS on GTA V (high, 1080p), >130FPS on CS:GO (medium, 1080p). I am only intending to get a GPU when prices come down... lots to play meanwhile. :)

Why didn't you test it in games? That's the most obvious reason someone would want a iGPU and an overclock in it.
@ATSNorthernMI
@ATSNorthernMI 2 года назад
If you under clock or disable turbo core so the cpu cores stay at stock you can get away with boosting the graphics on these APU's. I've been doing it with the APU since it came out. It was the only way you could actually get decent gaming with these because once you start running the chip above its total package watts, then you run into the regulator slowing your entire APU down. It does it so fast that you get crazy stutters and hesitations that makes everything unplayable. If you underclock the CPU part of the APU you can give more power and thermal headroom to the GPU part of the die.

Using your 1.3 volt, 2400 Hz setting on my 5700G i get 40 fps with 30k fish in the web gl aquarium! That’s good! Thanks for the straight- basic, clear, understandable, easy-to-follow guide. Exactly what I needed to not feel dumb for not overclocking at all, yet not be worried about frying anything.

@@NexioEdits It's probably because of your soc voltage is set at 1.1v. I wouldn't increase that to 1.3volts though, 1.2 is probably the most I would go. My soc, and gpu voltage is set at 1.1 and I was able to push it to 2325mhz. Didn't do any over volting, but rather, i undervolted the cpu so the igpu can get more power.

Nice overclocking of the GPU on the 5600G. I would recommend people get an aftermarket cooler for any Ryzen 5600G, 5700G, or 5600X. The Wraith Stealth just doesn't cut it. The Wraith Stealth Cooler on the 5600X in my experience was hit with really high temps 77C in gaming in a 24C room with 3 Fans 2 intake and 1 exhaust fan. I did some research and testing on my channel regarding the Wraith Stealth Cooler on the 5600X. I tested it and made sure it was installed correctly. And my temps were horrible on my 5600X running up to 87C on the CPU in Apex Legends. One of my viewers pointed out that the 5600X will throttle the CPU Turbo speeds after the chip hits 75C and above. When I replaced the Wraith Stealth with a Corsair H60 the speeds Turboed consistently to 4.6GHz in 3DMark Fire Strike. The Wraith Stealth Cooler hovered around 4.35GHz and struggled. The difference between the Wraith Stealth vs my H60 was a 3-4% difference at stock speeds on the 5600X in Fire Strike Score in 3DMark. People will come and say I installed the cooler incorrectly, but it was flush with the CPU and I verified this. Also, people say AMD says 95C with the 5600X is normal, but AMD don't point out that is that after 75C at least on the 5600X the chip throttles down almost 200MHz and no longer holds its 4.6GHz Turbo Clock Speed. So from my experience the Wraith Stealth hurts the Turbo Performance of the 65W 5600X. I can only guess the 5600G and its 65W TDP would also be throttled after hitting 75C and higher as well.

You really need to be careful with that much voltage. Everything I've read about Ryzen seems to indicate that an SoC voltage of 1.2V is pretty much the safe maximum for daily use, with 1.1-1.15V being a much more comfortable range. Since the IGPU voltage is also the SoC voltage on these APUs... You can see the problem. Maybe I'm wrong, and these new chips are somehow "different" from other Ryzen CPUs, but I've manually set my SoC voltage and GPU voltage to 1.156V on my personal 5700G. My RAM overclock (4000MHz) and IGPU overclock (2200MHz) are stable, and I'm probably not degrading my APU.
@ccoe3237
@ccoe3237 2 года назад
I think that relates to older chips the newer ones can cope with up to 1.3 but stay just under in the settings to make sure 1.3 is the absolute peak. 1.25 is a good balance so therefore an overclock at 2300MHz is a good balance, especially with a slight CPU overclock. Again, Gamers Nexus advises that whilst it was never revealed 1.3 seems to be the absolute tops where everything would degrade quickly above. Having said that, it's better to have better cooling to keep voltages heat down to get higher frequencies.

maybe it would help slightly if you undervolt the cpu while the gpu gets more overclocking and volting.

I just finished a 5700G build for a media server. I didn't realize it would overclock so much since I didn't see anyone do this about 2200 in any other video. So, mine is sitting at 2200 with no increase in voltage. I will go back later and see what it can actually do. CPU, however, is another story. I hated the stock AMD cooler and I have an IS-47K packed into a small Inwin B1 case. Stressing both CPU and GPU at the same time with PBO settings at maximum resulted in about 128W of package draw (89max for CPU and 49max on the GPU). CPU temps hitting 95 at 4.6Ghz, so I actually set PBO to minimum as a lower power profile in Ryzen Master. Stressing both in the same way again resulted in about 90W total and temperatures never exceeding 70C. CPU clocks are low at 3.7Ghz with that setting and I probably could get that up to 4.2 or so and still be under 85C, but not worth my time for now. Mobo is Asus strix B550i gaming. Edit for memory: I bought a 4000Mhz kit for it, but the motherboard freaked out so badly, it would boot up in what ASUS calls "BIOS recovery mode." I had to stick in a USB drive with the BIOS image on it so it could repair itself. I only attempted it twice, so 3600 is the best I can get it to do.

Hi, I saw and enjoyed your video on iGPU Vega8 overclocking your Ryzen 5700G, and I would have a question if you have the time of course, I would just like what batch is your Ryzen 5700G of? more precisely the datecode and the original silicon and factory ID (EF xxxx XXX) which is on the second line written on the IHS of your 5700G. Having also acquired a 5700G recently but not yet tested, it would be to see if there was a clear improvement in the "Cézanne" fab process between the first batches released and the last which were manufactured, because I mounted and overclocked a Ryzen 5600G for a friend who wanted a little SFF config and I was very surprised to see that his iGPU Vega7 was perfectly stable 2525MHz at 1.30v vSOC/vGFX and his batch is EF 2139SUS, so knowing that the 5700G I just bought has for batch: EF 2143SUS, I hope it is as good as my friend's 5600G.

@ccoe3237
@ccoe3237 2 года назад
1.3 is the limit usually but I would go just under because if you reboot you'll notice your voltage is usually spiking a bit below or above what you request. Remember voltage isn't static it averages out. So you want to see how much it spikes and monitor it carefully. I'm sure setting 1.3 won't kill it right away but if it spikes over a lot it may wear out the silicon so I would see say if you set 1.290 see if that 10 headroom is enough to keep it just under. Usually you get varying opinions some older chips used to be 1.2 safe but the most trusted source I could see on youtube about this was Gamers Nexus who tested various boards which all gave more voltage than the actual settings, so yeah setting it is not going to result in a trauma, but set just below and monitor both on a reboot going back into BIOS then if it's under go into windows run some tests see if it stays that way.

An overclock like this one really shouldn't have much if any impact on the longevity of the chip. Heat kills components, but this thing is still running super cool. I'd feel comfortable leaving this overclock on the chip for the long run.

I can sort of replicate that on my MSI board. Set gfx voltage manually always if you overclock it. I used 1.225v for 2200MHz on my 5700g which also runs at 2300MHz same voltage but for extra stability I put an extra 10mv on so 1.235. I can run it faster but anything between 2300-2400 is variable, you need something other than stock cooling and preferably water cooling for 2300-2400, even though it's possible to combine it with 4.6GHz all core or 4.85GHz PBO which works very well as I have done using an aftermarket cooler, I would still recommend water cooling but anything lower than 2300MHz should be fine. 2200MHz worked with 1.200v for me always whatever clock speed I ran at.I haven't got water cooling but I will get a new case and see how far it can be pushed. I also overclocked my RAM from 3200 to 3933MHz which gets from 32 - 39Mb/s transfer speed gain. But timings are key for video RAM so I would try to get RAM sticks which can run fast with good timings. I also recently changed from auto to manual voltage on all core overclock, and I've also got curve optimiser for undervolting on the PBO. I save the 2 profiles in the BIOS and use PBO for the daily driver but if I know something needs it I go to all core for a while. Cinebench scores range between 13,800 to 15,300 depending how extreme the overclock is. Also bear in mind 4.6GHz on this chip means 4.65 you can try 4.25 and 4.50 in the settings but 4.50 is pushing it for every day. 4.25 can be stable. I literally had no crashes.
