It is not a mystery you need to uncover, it is a battle you need to endure. There is incredible humility and shame with accepting your negligence in the past and doing your best to clean up the mess you have made for yourself. Often times people occupy themselves with the worlds problems and distract themselves with literally anything so that they can continue to live in ignorance. But at some point you must face your flaws and anxieties… the longer you wait, the more damage it will cause. It can be anything, from difficult tasks to difficult conversations, or difficult realizations to accept and move forward from. Start with small simple tasks, do your best, and try to improve. Eventually, the bigger underlying issues will become more obvious. You must be courageous, and do what is difficult, as it will almost always help you out most in the long run. Good luck!

This too shall pass...Don’t fight the anxiety, just allow it to work it’s way through. Just let it do it’s thing. It will leave on its own. I’m right here with you right now. We’re gonna do this together. This won’t stay long. It’s on its way out now. Just Embrace the moment as you become at peace with things. You are shedding this off as we speak. Now I want you to close your eyes and place your hands in front of you and lightly wiggle your fingers like you’re playing a piano. Feel it melt off yourself. Feel it drip off your fingertips...See, there it goes......we love you . Daffodils, sunshine, blue skies, refreshing peace. Breathe out. You are loved....Heavy eyelids, drift away, ahhhhhhh, light fluffy thoughts. There you go, you got this. (I’m still here with you) Now sleep. Stay at rest. Shhhhhh....Breathe out. We are a community which has lots of taboos. I am 34 and was feeling ashamed of dealing with health anxiety for years, because I was always an athlete powerful and the first one to do risky things when I was younger and I couldn’t admit that it turned around. I always thought that anxiety is for the weak minded, but recently I realised that it is the exact opposite. It requires real mental strength to power through all this negativity, panic attack, the fear that you might die and what you think is best for you. We are strong and smart, but unfortunately he think negatively. We are also a great community! Everyone is trying to help anyone else as much as he/she can. I ‘ve never seen any other community being so sympathetic and caring. Well done to everyone, I wish everyone to be healthy physically and mentally. All the love!

@jokerski3250

One of the first steps in learning to manage anxiety is to be willing to change how you view your own anxiety. It isn’t something to battle. Anxiety is the way your brain tells you to be aware of or to watch out for something. It’s trying to protect you. Recovery from anxiety is based in allowing yourself to experience it and to treat it as irrelevant. This teaches the brain that what ever it is that it’s telling you to be afraid off doesn’t need to be of importance. Once the brain realizes you don’t mind the idea of whatever it is that might happen it will dial back the severity of the fight or flight signal it is sending you. Over time it’s how to become desensitized to anxiety. It is the best way. Fighting it only makes it worse in the long run. Simple mantras and positive reassurance and reinforcement only work for a very brief time.

I coach football and recently one of our sophomore players died of cancer. He was 15. Then a month or so later, I had a scare that I though was testicular cancer but turned out just to be a bad strain in that area. Even after a Drs visit, a urologist visit, ultrasound and blood work all came back good, in my mind, there’s is still something wrong. But I’m getting better every day on dealing with it.

Yes! Definitely one of my sources of anxiety is health anxiety. In the past two years so many horrible things have hindered my life that I never thought would happen. I have realized that a lot of the things I worried about never came to fruition and things I never expected would happen are those that rocked my life. What purpose did all of that worrying serve? I made myself sick over it. Doctor visits, EKGs on my heart. It was so serious I had to be put on medication for anxiety. I decided I didn't want to take the medicine any more so I stopped. I let myself feel the emotions. I have a much better grip on reality now that I have experienced all of these things. I am more peaceful, albeit sad.

Mine is driven from 22 years of military service that involved years of using fight or flight. The problem flight is not an option, I can’t seem to adjust to a new normal. My panic attacks are so severe the physiological symptoms caused me to have a heart catheter for no reason. Due to constant chest pressure, extreme blood pressure at times, dizziness, nausea, night sweats. I could go on for days about how anxiety affects my body. I felt so calm. No thoughts or the anxious feeling inside your body. It kind of felt like I was being pranked. Like is this really how it feels to just feel calm? Anxiety is not just racing thoughts of “what if”. It’s a feeling/ sensation inside the body. It’s hard to explain.. I feel like I’m finally taking control of my anxiety though. Sometimes I just can’t explain why my body feels anxious. Not one clue as to why I’m feeling anxious. The brain is interesting.. I’m a calm anxious person now. And it’s so confusing to me but It’s okay because it’s just part of the process of becoming better at controlling it. I’m just thankful I can acknowledge the feeling and try to control it.

The message this video is trying to give, is that, no matter how humungous the situation in your head is, if you practice going over it, over and over again, you would reach a point where the uncertainty of it won't bother you anymore. At the end of it all, the only thing that is not under our control is our death, because everything else can be worked out somehow. It might be scary to live through few things, but as long as we are alive and breathing, we have a purpose and we can swim through any sea of adversity we face..

I have now learned, through some very tough lessons in my early 20s, that the correct approach is to move with your anxiety in faith that it won’t harm you or kill you. It’s an energy source. As you learn to open the door to this nervous energy, I believe it can be life changing. I still have my struggles but I believe I am on the correct path. I've had an intense migraine headache for the past 4 or 5 hours. I listen to that powerful very powerful prologue on anxiety and really listen to it twice actually, no more headache. I took heat to the advice I applied it and I moved on. It's really so simple but we are complex individuals we make things very difficult for ourselves. For the past four or five years I've been saying that I don't need any enemies because I am so bad to myself, toxic or what have you. I think really what it's boiling to is just being plain stubborn! I will definitely listen to this gentleman speak many many more times I hope.

This isn't the first time that Jordan has brought me to tears with the beautiful intensity with which he talks about the human condition and the human dilemma. He straddles the line between science and poetry. I am so incredibly grateful to Jordan Peterson for helping me understand how to handle the darkest parts of being a human by putting the struggle into terms that adequately communicate the immense weight of some of life's biggest problems. It makes me angry that he has become so politicized because I believe these narratives distract people from the very helpful insights he has to share after decades of clinical practice and independent study of history, religion, etc. Much love to everyone in these threads who loves and appreciates Jordan.

I recently realised that when I have crippling panic attacks I'm not so much afraid of me dying, me being sick, me not being around. It's all based in robbing my daughter of having her daddy. That thought terrifies me and it's motivating me to be healthier for her. A tip for a panic attack is to turn on something familiar that you enjoy and know well. A cartoon you like, a comedy show you find funny, a music video you like. Sit with it on so the familiarity of it is with you - at certain points it'll draw you in and make you feel like paying attention. When that happens, say out loud sarcastically "Oh NOW you can calm down?" It may not work for everyone but it's helped me. All the best to everyone - June is Men's mental health month 👌

I always used to think I’d know if I suffered with any form of mental health, I thought the signs would be so much clearer but anxiety is sneaky and will pick you apart until you can barely function. It’s got to the point where i get crippling headaches and just stare into space, feels like I’m living in my head. I’m 22 in great shape and currently studying at university but I’m struggling so so much. I feel like my head is being crushed and there’s an unbearable weight on my shoulders. I smoked weed for 2 years which helped at first but the anxiety came back 10x worse. Im now fully aware of the demons im facing and it’s my mission to complete rid myself of them. Any advice would be appreciated!! Keep going my people :)

In a very similar position. Just graduated from college where all I did for the past 6 years was smoke weed and run from my problems. They caught up, and I had to catch myself. It’s a constant battle everyday, but we are up for the task that is why we are here. My crippling anxiety felt like the world was ending and everything happened at once. There is no one solution but talking to others in similar positions can be very helpful. Would be happy to talk man. You’ve got this! One step at a time, one day at a time, one emotion at a time. You are here for a reason and you are loved. Dig deep and find what truly makes you feel alive. 😊

Something I don't understand how I could have the perfect family and yet be so miserable and hateful with myself. I let my anxiety win too many times. I hated feeling this way so much I made my family suffer my new ugly personality; I know they hate me now, but they'll never say that. For me, I learned suicide bringing peace was a misguide. Peace is for the living and we have to be bold enough to live for something so beautiful. Thank you Mr Peterson

I can personally relate to the struggle of managing anxiety, and that's why the insights shared in this video by Jordan Peterson truly resonate with me. His discussion about embracing our inner thoughts and fears is invaluable. It reminds me of Lisa Haisha's teachings in her work. Lisa emphasizes the importance of confronting our anxieties and not suppressing them. By allowing ourselves to explore our fears and thoughts, we can build the psychological strength to live authentically and face life's uncertainties head-on. This is a great reminder that self-discovery and self-acceptance, as encouraged by Lisa Haisha, are powerful tools in managing anxiety and finding our true purpose.

Brilliant. This is perhaps JP's greatest ever message. I know, because I am married to a brilliant woman who managed to find this path with no one's help. She discovered this path Jordan discusses in the lonesome darkness of deep depression. And then, as JP discusses, she conquered that not-so-small dark demon, that anxiety machine that had her by the coat tail. This was something extraordinary and painful to watch. But now, hearing JP describe the method of victory, I realize even more how extraordinary my wife is. It's so uplifting. Thank you for sharing this JP talk.

I am struggling with fear and anxiety of the future. I am suffering from a temporary disorder where my surroundings and myself feel unreal. This disorder is fake, because my mind is the one producing it. It is its own defense mechanism, it is a response to fear and anxiety. Whether what you are experiencing is something nobody speaks about, you are still not alone. No matter how severe or different your experience and sensations may seem, and how isolated you may feel, yo are never ever alone. Never, whether you know it or not. Somebody somewhere else is experiencing what you are, but that is not what being alone means. You have people round you to help you. The best advice I can give anyone who is experiencing this fear and anxiety is to talk to someone. Seek comfort in family an friends, because going through it alone will never make it easier. Be safe and well, and seek comfort in family, friends, and Jesus.

@@perspectivemotivation Whoever you are, I don't know you personally but I can say that you're one of the non-judgmental and open-minded people who is not fixated on tangible or external factors in order to learn from someone like me. Just because someone doesn't have a piece of paper as a credential, doesn't mean that person is not entitled to share personal experiences with the hope & intention to inspire others. Keep up with whatever it is that you're doing to improve mankind or improving your life even to a slight degree each day.
