The number one reason for losing a fish is the rod. I do not think Favorite rods match your fishing. You are one of my home town heroes and can’t wait to see you crush it in the Classic!

Yeah luck has a little to do with it, but when you’re losing that many big fish there’s something going on. A few it didn’t even look like there was any hook set, and the boat flip attempts obviously didn’t help. Tough to see, this tournament was yours to win, or lose in this case. I’ll continue to watch and root for you, these videos are so well out together!

Agree, but who am I? lol Anytime I see a spinning rod or dropshot setup I just anticipate a lost fish. Some of the Northern swing tourney's, the time with which it takes to get a fish IN the boat is insane to me. When you have Dustin Connell, being incredibly successful, using 12lb leader and boat flipping his smallies/spinning rod fish it makes you wonder.

Hey Scott love the videos. So hope you or your editing team sees this post. You have got to fish for some amazing fish. From offshore to inshore to the amazing bass. But one thing I’ve never seen you done which i think your viewers for at least one episode would get a kick out of is fly-fishing. I have seen your dad fly fish but it would be cool to see you try and tackle any fish of your choice on one. I just got into tarpon on the flyrod and it’s become an obsession and addiction. I’ll be posting this post on several of your videos to hopefully get your attention. Keep up the amazing videos and tight lines.

Scott’s landing percentage on fish over 3 pounds this season is about 9.2%. Partially user error flipping big fish but mostly just bad luck

I love reading all the Scott Martin critics talk about what they would do or would not do.... boat flip/don't boat flip.... laziness/Scott loses too many fish... etc.... blah blah blah! The best part of these videos is just that, Scott does not hide behind the camera. This dude has won millions and some of us can't even win the video game version, but yet we wanna give him advice. C'mon man! 7 time Forrest Cup Qualifier who CHOSE to fish the tough Open schedule to qualify for the Elites and now is a 2 time Classic qualifier! I hope I "lose" fish like he does! Love your videos regardless. I grew up along the Mississippi, up near the Iowa & Illinois border (Quad Cities)... and you could just about depend on catching anything there. Striped bass, small & large mouth bass, huge catfish, carp, crappie, bluegill, black bass, walleye, gar, pike, and yeah - sometimes the kitchen sink. It was polluted when I was a kid, tons of factory waste, so we never kept anything. You could see it in some of the fish, but they'd still give you a good fight. It was about the fishing for me. Every summer I and a bunch of friends held a friendly competition where would trust one another to be truthful, and add up the number of fish we'd catch. Then compare numbers to see who was the winner of total fish caught. It was always in the > 3K amount of fish. Heck, I caught >50 fairly large sun fish (bluegill) in one day. That was on a bumblebee lure. Sorry for all that. My road is winding down quick. I just thought I'd post this somewhere.

The carolina rig got me my first trophy and I thought I had a pretty good handle on it. Then you start throwing it in a foot of water. Can't wait for the 20/20 on that thought process and maybe do a c-rig in depht video in the off season.

Man, it seems like you lose 10x the fish you do in tournaments versus practice. It seems like you fight them in a different way come tournament day. I have watched all your pre fishing videos, and you hardly lose any. Matt always fights the fish so calm, and you do too on practice days. I guess you could not show the ones you lose during practice just for production value. I am not trying to be an armchair angler, either way great job this season. Next year if they just stay pinned you will be DANGEROUS.

Who ever makes that swim jig needs to sharpen the hooks or you might want to go back to okuma rods! Seems you lost less fish when you used them

I definitely think the Okuma rods helped him b/c he likes to use treble hooked baits, do sweeping hook sets, and boat flip. All these do better with a more moderate actioned rod. From what I’ve felt, his TCS series was more moderate fast than moderate but favorite rods are super stiff

Love Scott to death but the last two seasons the fish he’s lost is incredible.
