When my boy's left, it nearly killed me. But I still had my husband. We traveled and stayed very busy. Both of us were missing our kids. After a few years it did get better. We settled in and was doing ok. Then it happened, my husband died. I was left totally alone. For the past 6 yrs I have been dealing with loneliness. I am a part timer. Camping/traveling has been my savior. You were part of my healing process. I loved watching you travel. I do understand how you feel. As I age and know my camping will come to an end, I know I will go through more loneliness. It is a huge problem today.

You are a beautiful person. You are assessing your life and it is normal. You have given so much to the world on RU-vid; it has been a wonderful blessing. Thank you for your wisdom. I know that you know the Bible very well here it is "Matthew 11:28-30 New International Version 28 “Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. 29 Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. 30 For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.”

I live in my car ,only a year and a half . I like it . I am older then you and retired. I like being alone i enjoy my own company. I do not feel depressed or lonely. I am sorry you do . I feel the ability to go anywhere and anything I want to do id magical. How lucky am I. I never married or had children. I had 24/7 job in the operating room in Baltimore City. They never stop trying to kill each other. After 42 years every minute every second each day and all nights 365 days a years. I love to peace and quiet. No rush to do anything . I stop and smell every rose I find along the way. Pure joy and happiness is a gift . I have so much strength that come from in side me. The powerful and positive thoughts . Your brain must keep sharp. I become the sun keep rising everyday .

I deal with depression too. Thanks for being vulnerable. I think many of us seek distractions to not think about depressing thoughts as a strategy. So sometimes we sit back and say “is this it?”…is this my life? Will it change? What if it doesn’t? And we contemplate how content we are with that. I understand that loneliness amidst relationships.

I am in a similar place Allison💗 I am especially having a tough time watching my grown daughter (25) start her own life - getting married in Dec. I am so happy for her, but ashamed to say that I do not know where I belong in her life - as her mother. My son is 16 and still needs me, but he will be graduating in less than 2 years and moving forward in his life. I am 57 and can totally relate. I have taken medication for depression since my mid-thirties. I struggle when I am not busy and am not focused on a purpose.

Hi Allison, J'nia flower girl Fowler here. Been following you for a few years so I get what you are saying. You are in a transition phase, self reflection, evaluating phase. That's healthy. We need to stop and take stock once in a while. Not going to try to figure things out for you. You can do that and i believe you will. Depression and anxiety seem to go hand in hand especially for us artistic types. Melatonin and Ashwaganda have helped me immensely, all natural. I recall that you love to sing and you have a beautiful voice, solo or otherwise. I suppose fining balance in life is important but then so is discovering trajectory. You know this. You are in my prayers Allison, as always. I love your honesty. much love from Canada, land of the not so free or brave. < LOL

Just want to say that as someone whose body just does not produce enough serotonin, taking 100mg per day of 5htp (an amino acid) has been incredibly helpful for me for over a decade. However, I am NOT a health care professional of ANY sort, so I do recommend running this by a trusted health care professional (for anyone interested in possibly trying it). Not that one supplement could combat depression and loneliness, but getting enough serotonin can really be helpful in the battle. Also, I'm still rooting for you, Allison!! 🤗💜 I've commented previously that the religious content isn't my cup of tea, but I think if that is what you feel compelled to share some (or most, or all) of the time, this is your channel and you should follow your heart! I think many of your subscribers can benefit greatly from such a message. I will still keep tuning in and watching when your content resonates with me. Sometimes the inet is not such a bad place. I totally relate to your story and am fighting the loneliness and depression and anxiety as well. I have said more than once "people see what we let them see" they really have no clue what's really going on in your head because we put up the "Oh I'm fine" front. I hope to follow along as you fight this battle your in to get your peace and joy back in your life. I think you are right about the always being on the move. Its easier to avoid and deal with stuff when your constantly go go going but it is still there and the being in one place being still really lets the issues come back to the forefront of the mind. I hope and pray you can find your peace and maybe so will I. God bless us both..

Great heart share, Allison. I watch your videos because I relate to you, and your life feels somewhat like mine. I pray that you take this time in your life very seriously because one thing we can never know is what the effects of growing older actually have on us until it happens. It's uncommon for gals like us (I'm 61) to be "unsettled" and questioning life at this age. I never ever would have thought this is where I'd be at this point in my life. I at 50 had these same questions and thought I'd made changes to better things. Turns out ten years later I'm more alone than ever and the scarry part? I'm losing the fight.. that part of me that cares to keep putting forth the effort for minimal to no results is fading with each passing year. DON'T WAIT.. DO IT NOW. Whatever it is you need to do, I pray you get it done. At 10 years your senior, I can tell you age does something to your will to fight. At least, that's been my experience. I totally relate to all you've shared here, and I'll be following along with you, sister. Thank you for sharing. ❤️💓❤️

I went thru the empty nest depression when my daughter graduated and went straight into the Army. I didn't get to spend the summer after she graduated with her. She graduated high school then was gone and my son had already moved out 3 years prior. I went thru the "who am I?' phase because I was not the same person at 47 than I was at 24. I started yoga and jogging and reading more and got thru it. It's now 10 years later and I'm spending time with my daughter again and granddaughter now. You are so strong and Jesus is watching over you, you will get through this too ❤️

I can relate to a lot of what you said. I'm also approaching 50 in month and it feels strange. Although I don't feel like it's a crisis, I do feel like I'm in a mid-life "situation." I feel the loneliness and other things you've mentioned. I think the worst kind of loneliness is having people around, but having no one really be "there" for you. The loneliness from betrayal is on a different level. I think you should pray about starting some kind of support group for women like us. You have a everything it takes. Thanks for opening your heart to all of us. You ARE making a difference! 🙏❤

I can so SO relate to this more than words can express. I’m sure I’m not alone in feeling this. Thanks for being open, honest and explaining what your experiencing as it helps many of us to not feel so alone. This video didn’t seem “unedited” in any negative way, it seemed awesome like they always do to me! I have always felt profoundly alone for so many reasons, that’s a long story. But I have this theory that God allows this for many (if not all of us to some degree) so that we feel incomplete without Him and draw near to Him. It’s an emptiness and longing that ONLY HE can fill. Now see, I know this in my heart mind and soul, but I haven’t been able to come out of it to the degree desired as of yet. So many of us don’t have close community/family etc like there used to be a long time ago when families were closer together, when neighbors HAD to rely on each other for survival, when things weren’t so evil and offended and more HUMAN for a better lack of term, when all this technology and busyness “I culture” didn’t overcome us. There’s so many factors. Praying that God will heal all of our “inner aches” in Jesus’s name. Thanks for sharing this important video with us Alison! Sending you and everyone reading this virtual hugs 🤗🥰🙏

I love how you are so open and honest, Allison. I have been depressed at times for sure. For the past two months I was stressed. So I asked God to show me why I couldn't seem to trust Him and accept His peace. When I started asking God to show me what was wrong He actually showed me something that I really needed to know about myself. That realization brought me to a more right and closer relationship with God. Allison, you may need Christian counseling, you may need meds (premenopausal depression is real), there may be something God wants to show you. Truly ask God to show you yourself and what is the issue(s). Did you find a church that works for you yet?

I read a lot of the late Catholic priest, psychologist, and author Henri Nouwen. He constantly suggests that the most spiritually dormant times of our lives is when we travel. He travelled all over the world, and didnt write his greatest books until he was in his 50s. This was after he left all travelling, teaching etc... to become a pastor living with people with mental disabilities. Serving others was his therapy. Thanks for sharing your thoughts. I'm guessing midlife crisis and empty nesting is one of the worst times in one's life. Especially after a long time of travelling and posting the fun things.

Allison, obviously we aren't BFF's BUT: I have struggled with Christianity nearly my whole life, from full-on believer, to atheist to agnostic but with enough training to always thank God for every good thing that has happened to me. I like your vlogs because you aren't pushing anything. You are real and I get to think for myself with some help from you. About loneliness and anger: I truly blame the political scene for the division of our country. I never felt mean or mad at the opposing party of my beliefs, but I admit that I do feel that way now...and it is the worst I have ever felt about life in general. I don't even know how to describe the feeling but woof, it is so uncomfortable. Thanks for this video.

Allison, it's so great to see you!! You are one of my favorite people. I want to thank you for sharing this. First, you look great!!! Turning 50 is a good age. I'm much older than you but around the age of 50 I started coming into my own so to speak. I had a life full of anxiety, relationships relationships that never worked out etc. I started spending alot of alone time and this helped me tremendously. I don't struggle with loneliness. If I get lonely, it's very seldom. What I had learned was I was running away from myself when I thought I had to have lots of friends and always socialize. I had to take some hard looks at myself. I feel growing older, one is always learning something and we have more wisdom!! I do have OCD myself which is not pleasant. That's always a work in progress. I hope I'm making sense here. Lol. I'm interested in watching your videos and you sharing with us through your journey of discovering yourself and you will!!! I'm so glad to see you! You are an awesome person. Hugs and ❤ to you! 🙏

I hope you find clarity and I hope that you start to feel better. I am 55. I went through some years of reflection. I have come to see depression as a weird version of mental self harm. But, you do that compulsively, so you can’t easily stop. In that way, it is loosely related to OCD. A sibling of mine is truly OCD and the casual description of OCD doesn’t even begin to describe what my sibling has gone through. It is such a blessing for me to have good people in my life. I started a meditation practice. I believe in it but I haven’t been very successful yet. I am just going to continue until I am successful.

Hey girl. I’m 30 years your senior and I can say depression and anxiety are very real. Not sure how it happens. I suspect some mistreatment in our formative years. Anyway, medication really helps me. I’ve never gone the psychiatrist or psychologist root but, my regular GP was helpful. And, talking to others I had an idea what might work for me. I take an antidepressant and a mood stabilizer. Major anxiety can hit me out of the blue and not often and I take a dose of over the counter sleep remedy. Does the trick. Loneliness just is. We come in alone and we go out alone. You’re good. Help awaits just go get it. No shame. 😊

I went though a divorce and lost the role of wife, I went throw the empty nest thing, and then I retired from a 38 year teaching career, and I felt like I was erasing myself a little at a time. I’m guessing it comes down to finding your worth not in what you do, but just in being a child of God. It’s very hard and I still battle loneliness but I found out in my failed marriage that you can be lonely when you’re married too. Maybe that feeling of loneliness isn’t meant to go away while we’re here on earth, but only when we’re done here.

Thank you for sharing. Being alone after your kids have grown is hard sometimes but only sometimes I am speaking for myself of course. I have a saying now: and that’s…ok. Sometimes I feel bored or meloncholy and that’s ok. Sometimes I am lonely but then I question myself: lonely or peaceful? I choose peaceful with a dash of gratefulness on it. I have peace in my life now I didn’t always. Some people do not and I remind myself to appreciate it. I allow myself to cry or feel down momentarily but to be honest those activities bore me and I can only do that for so long then I am onto something else. My life is not perfect because it is not supposed to be. And that’s ok. I am headed towards 60 now and that’s ok too. I have my sense of humour I have my faith in God and Jesus 🙏 I also maintain agreat sense of curiousity about the world. For that I am grateful too. I also regularly remind myself it’s better to be solo than with someone wrotten and being abused. Every day is a gift and an adventure.

Like the old saying goes . You can be in a house full of people and still be lonely. Hang in there sis , there are a lottttt of people more lonely than you. Young , old, middle aged , teens , etc . May God bless you with the happiness you deserve. 🤗❤️💯😇🙏

I am a firm believer in feeding your gut bacteria to improve your mood. Remember that roundup is used on wheat products, so it stands to reason that the roundup can also harm your good bacteria. There is a direct correlation between your gut health and your mental health. There is organic wheat for wheat, pasta, or bread lovers...I will eat junk but I pull back the following day and make it a point to eat better. Walking is a life saver as well. Good luck on your journey. Remember this life is hard and sometimes we need to accept that and be thankful for what we have.

I think everyone suffers from loneliness and depression from time to time. But I think there is loneliness and alone-ness that I think is somewhat different. I have a friend who used to tell me that in those times no one else is around and you spend the majority of your time alone, you have to learn to become your own best friend. I do know people who are alone, but not necessarily lonely. Over the years I have learnt that happiness is an "inside job". Only you can determine what it means to be happy; the answer lies with you. 50 is a mile marker, definitely. I understand why you would be evaluating and re-evaluating the whole of your life's journey. I hope you find and make peace with your life and your situation or make the changes that you need, to get to where you want to be.

50? They say black don't crack, you'll have to find something complimentary for the white girls to say lol, looking good over there 💪🏽 still got your innocence & youthful looks. That loneliness & sadness is REAL. 4.5 years & counting over here. Thanks for the truthful transparency!

Perhaps volunteering in some capacity may help to fill the void in you. It will cause you to see things in a different light. It can be helping animals, humanity, trees. You have a lot of wisdom to depart upon others. May God abundantly bless you on your journey.🐾🌲😊❤

Lord Jesus show us the way out of loneliness and unsettled needs for our future life ,as we grow older . Lord we need your wisdom and direction , we believe you will help us find good happy god filled people to share our lives with . Lord thank you are helping Allison , find relief and healing for her needs going forward , I know god she will keep being a mighty godly blessing for us all ,in her you tube following and people on her future personal path today. She is lovely and thoughtful . Thank you for all the things you have brought her thru and lessons she learned and has shared with us. I pray she will learn about spiritual warfare and how to protect her beautiful mind. She is a lovely soldier for herself and others

Have you ever been to Mackinac Island and the U.P.? I know you’ve been to Canada 🇨🇦. You want to truly find yourself , buy some property along one of the Great Lakes, there’s no shenanigans going on up there, you should blend in perfectly. In my opinion.

One of the best cures for being lonely is to spend some time with another person who loves the Bible and share your thoughts on what you've appreciated from your reading. Perhaps that's why we are encouraged "to consider one another to incite to love and fine works, not forsaking the gathering together as some have the custom but encouraging one another all the more so.." Heb 10:24,25. Just a suggestion from someone who understands.

I agree with you about loneliness , it's your mission now , to find awnsers . Hallelujah, you got the right compassionate person for that ! have you thought of finding a naturopath doctor to recieve biodentical hormones . I need that also .I was on biodentical hormon replacement panel of tests , for all hormone levels. It helps with depression, anxiety and better sleep. It helps with your brain wellness also. Have you thought of getting a doc to see if bio dentical hormone treatment will be beneficial for your health ? This is a great video, more than you know .

Being a Christian, you have heard the saying let go and let God. Once you learn to truly let go, it does get easier. I have three kids with a six year gap between my last two. When the first two left home, I had the mild case of empty nest, but when my last left, I hit bottom hard. I tried fighting for them to visit and keep in touch. It was all really in my head though because I was seeing them at least twice a month for family gatherings and we are daily talking through a family chat we started. It took some time, but when you realize what little control you really have over some things, you have no choice but to let go. What you will find out is it isn't what your head is telling you!! Stay strong, my dear, but allow yourself to have those weak moments where you cry and let it all out. Pick yourself back up and realize that tomorrow is another day! My heart knows what you are going through; you are not alone, even if you feel like you are. As mothers, we don't have lives of our own once we have children; we live for them and now it is your turn. It is your time to find yourself again. You are going to be fine Allison!! You will see! Love you and your channel, Girly Girl!!

People say it’s your time now … what does that look like when your identity has always been their mom his wife etc … when no one needs you anymore … how do you find out what that means . At an older age I have to find a new identity ? Everything I was is no longer … I’m finding it very difficult to find that new person .

Hugs my friend. You may be lonely but you’re never alone. Jesus loves you. You have friends all over the place. Let me know if you ever get to the Pacific Northwest again. I finally quit driving a bus 6 months ago after 38 years of driving and I am now a caretaker. It’s rewarding work that God provided me to do. Let God lead you and enjoy the journey. Thank you for sharing. Let me know if you need anything.

The plandemic created a lot of lonely people. People overall have not recovered from isolation. I’m speaking to the ladies here because I’m a woman and know how many of us over 50 ladies feel. Ladies, you need 2-3 rock solid lady friends.. Your tribe is important. Dig deep and remember the things you’ve loved to do in life but as a working mom didn’t have time to do for yourselves. Try something new, then something else new. Sending love and hugs and prayers you find your sparkle soon.

I hope you find the answers to loneliness. My Mother in Law Is 91 and she has always been lonely without a Man in her life. She got Married at 18 was married 27 years and he was 10 years older and he passed from diabetes. She waited a year and remarried he died 14 years later of stomach cancer . She married a guy from church his wife had died so they we’re Married about 14 years and he died from heart problems. She then dated a friend of her husband’s for about 4 years and they were ready to get married and his daughter was not going to let that happen so she put him in a rest home took away his phone so he could only call out from the nurse station and I personally think he died of a broken heart. When I was visiting at her house and he had to go home they would stand out side and giggle and kiss like teenagers. Long story short 🤪🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
