I've been off Kendo for nearly a year now, just never had motivation. I'm not bothered anymore about winning Taikai's (not that I have won many, only 1) or progressing further (for my age (18) I feel Nidan is OK for me for now, especially since I am one of the youngest Nidan's in my country). I wanted to start again just to find my own Kendo and to find myself, my purpose, my friends, family, relieve stress and anxiety, meet new people, re-meet old friends and to improve my health most importantly. I am currently helping at a beginners class that is going to be for the next 5 weeks, which is being led by my mum, so I am helping. It really has motivated me right now, and it feels good to break kendo down and learn it all again from scratch. It really does feel like a new page, and I feel that I can use this to get back into it! I stumbled across this video by chance - while I was researching Iaido - and it is very very good advice!
