First, ask yourself, if the meaning of that passage is as obvious as you believe it is, then how did it go unnoticed for 1500 years? Did it really take until the reformation for true christianity to emerge? Second, if you take it literally rather than as hyperbole that instructs us not to usurp the role of our Father in heaven (he is rebuking the pharisees after all), then how do you reconcile that with the apostles constantly refering to Abraham, David, Jacob, etc as their 'Fathers', or with Paul referring to the Corinthians as his spiritual children, etc etc? The simple answer is you don't call anyone 'Father' in the same sense that you say "Our Father". Moreover, what about the apostles calling themselves 'teachers', which the same passage also speaks against? Not surprisingly, protestants have no issue with the label "teacher". Why? Because you pick and choose what to believe literally, divorced from the church and tradition that gave you the bible.

I suggest praying to Saints Cyprian and Justina of Antioch. Cyprian was an occultist who sent demons to Justina, but, through her prayers, not only sent away the demons but converted Cyprian. Father Spyidon, thank you for what you do. I know it's not easy for you. I imagine that you think the Fathers of the Church are better preachers and better saints. But, you speak things that are exactly what needs to be heard. I have an absolute hunger to see Jesus, to find him. But, I feel lost. I know there's a path but it's shining and I just can't see it. Hearing your words guides me toward it. That invisible path. What you said about repentance was so spot on. I go to the darkest corner I can find to admit my sins. They're horrible. It's a secret. I can't even tell it to a Priest.

All people who have excepted Jesus as their savior are saints. A name for going through the process of sanctification, which all Christians do. All people are sinners. Including us saints. If saints are sinless then they do not need Jesus.
To have a good relationship with our father in heaven is the most important thing. Do things not as prisoners following orders but out of love gained by following him on the narrow path step by step. He wants us to follow him with free will not because we think we are obligated. Would you want your spouse to have a relationship with you and do things out of love or just empty words and obligations to gain a price from you? Matthew 22:36-40
