Overcomplicated is an understatement!😊. This is at the point of being rediciolus! No wonder Porsche says 36K! miles between replacements. When in reality it should be more like 10-12K miles between.

If that air comes from the side panel scoops, then it makes sense. They are low & the front tires throw dirt in them

It is satisfying to do these sort of things.

It takes incredible engineering to get everything to fit into the small space that a mid pancake engine has to fit into. It always looks incredibly hot 🥵 on your concrete working area, the veins in your arms can barely contain themselves. Kurt (Curt) thank you so much for sharing these awesome videos that show that with a small number of decent hand tools, a lot can be accomplished.

The only suggestioon would be to vacuum inside the filter housing just to make sure no debri was left inside.

I have never seen such dirty filters before, have they ever been changed I wonder????? While I was writing this, you mentioned they are changed every 36,000 miles. I would change it every 12,000 looking at those!

Amazing!…I’ve never seen intake filters that bad before. I’ve owned a Boxster and they never looked like that and then a 997 and also when changed, never looked nearly as bad as that. Those look like they’ve been driven in a dirt storm! I bet you just gained some hp from cleaning those out. LOL.

I’m always nervous using trim removal tools as it seems that a plastic grommet/fastener always snaps in two. The plastic is so brittle ( I guess with age). Nice video!

Trim removal tools will not cause any damage. It's when they are used on cars usually over 10 years old. The plastic grommets are much more likely to snap due to brittleness from age, rather than the tool itself!

Less trim to remove on a Boxster 😁

Do you mind me asking how many miles you had done at the point where you changed the filters and they were black? I just changed mine at 35,000 kms and they were not very dirty at all.

Where do you get the maintenance schedule and instructions from please. Thanks

Insanely complicated. Like other comments here I’ve never seen filters that look so dirty. The colour looks like soot or brake dust.

Seems like a missed opportunity to throw some high flow filter elements in there. Then again, that’s just conventional wisdom making me say that. Maybe these paper filters flow just as well.

According to flow tests done by Jake Raby from Flat Six Innovations, the standard filters are as good as those that cost 5 - 6 times as much. I have tried many supposedly improved filters on motorbikes and never found much improvement in power and several looked like they would not stop much debris on its way to the innards of the motor either!

Those are a bit complicated to get at. I can imagine you have to be a real contortionist to get at the cabin air filters. The debre filters on my mercedes are behind the glove box, so not to bad. But the carbon filters are under the dash and you have to be able to work almost completely upside down just to get at them. Lol
