I have an earlier 16G, the first year they put the Kohler Magnum Twin on, and it had bad head gaskets, but ran pretty well. You are right about the steel gas tank. My fuel lines needed replacing. I chose to remove the engine guard and cooling tins to access the fuel pump. The tins came off to replace head gaskets, of course, but you should check the head cooling fins for crap anyhow. I’m having similar problems with my 16G. Mine is, it won’t idle correctly. I constantly have to adjust the idle setting. High speed is fine. So, hoping you might find something with yours that may lead to a solution for me. Thanks for the vid.
i"ve been running non-ethanol in all my small engine equipment for 2 years. I leave the gas in them over the winter (I'm in NE Ohio), and have NO issues with deteriorated hoses, fuel pump diaphrams, carb jets, etc. Both my Gravelys (16G and 8199KT) have metal tanks, with NO rust inside, either. I used to be rebuilding/cleaning carbs, have hoses deteriorated, etc. EVERY year prior. Just my .02. @@DKTractors
@@powrguy1696 : yes. Have been using it for at least a year. Maybe about 8 tanks of gas have been run through the engine, with an occasional half can of SeaFoam. Other lawn equipment uses NE gas as well. Just the 16 is acting up. I'm getting go fuel flow; fuel pump seems to be working, but I still may replace it.
