Actually in my experience as a mechanic, that is a very common continental engine flying, for a non technical look at modern ac engines ... Modern Marvels did a episode on the subject. Tho I have a C- 65 (the engine shown) and a modern Lycoming IO-360 in the hangar being rebuilt right now, and really they are very similar, except for the fact of how the prop mounts, and how fuel is handled.

With today’s labor rates it is more cost effective to have new or overhauled cylinders in the box ready to go. One thing I noticed was they re-used the same nuts on the cylinder studs and did not use any lube on the stud threads. How many A/Ps wear ties nowadays? :)
