Lighting reflective subjects.
In this video I take you step by step through the process of making creative still life photography.
I will demonstrate how to use a diffusion material to produce a controlled gradient on reflective still life subjects.
From the studio lighting using just two flash / strobe lights, through the tethered capture in Capture one software, to the final image in Adobe Photoshop.
Every stage of the image creation is covered.
I'll use a Canon DSLR, tethered into Capture one software to show you how to capture your subject from basic image to completed photograph.
Ideas for art photography.
Profoto studio flash.
Canon 24-70mm f2.8 Lens.

Excellent demonstration playing around with light. Something I learned from this is that I need to dedicate a larger area for building a set. I usually try similar photos on a computer desk and feel cluttered or unable to control my lighting enough. Thank you!

Very nice video! Thanks for doing it. I've been trying to duplicate this kind of shot with wine glasses. Controlling the reflections off the glass is a real challenge.

As always excellent demo. Could you do a demo with splitting white light through a prism to show the split in colours?

Very useful video on how to work with reflective surfaces without getting unwanted reflections. I'm particularly interested in your kit ie the diffuser panel. Is it home made? And how it's attached to the C stand. Do you have a video which goes over this type of kit?

Nice tutorial … can you share the histogram of your image in upcoming tutorial? I am always getting confused with histogram when using a flash … thanks in advance

The histogram is visible in the top left of the Capture one screen shot.

Hi , how to find this black/dark mirror, how this is called? Anybody know what I can use to get similar effects? Thanks, brilliant video as usual.

The material is Gloss Perspex, also known as, acrylic, Plexiglas, Poly(methyl methacrylate) (PMMA), etc.

What is the name of the black ? that you are setting the objects on?
@CameraClubLive
@CameraClubLive 2 года назад
The black surface is a 3mm sheet of Perspex, you could use acrylic or ant plastic that will give just one reflective plane.
