Torque that like button😂 very good video! I have this same car/engine at 253k miles on it, original water pump and timing chain, just fixed it’s lean condition, and thinking about doing this as preventative maintenance
@JimmyMakingitwork
@JimmyMakingitwork 3 месяца назад
It is a good idea, since they can contaminate the crank case with coolant and take out the bearings pretty quickly if it isn't caught fast!

@@JimmyMakingitwork could this also be the reason when I pulled my original oxygen sensors they had somewhat of a pinkish reddish hue to them, thank you for replying also😊

You can do this job wit gut dropping the engine cradle. There’s many tutorials showing how to not waste that time for the DIYer. It’s still a big job. Good tutorial anyway and I like your knowledge and care!

I have a more recent video where I did it in the car to compare. I forget which number Day in the Shop, but it was about 3 months ago. :)

You're really good DR Jimmy, it's gotta be so cool to work outside year-round. Hopefully the client went for a premium/OEM part LOL. The trick with these Ford/Lincoln with transverse 3.5 or 3.7 is to buy them used on the low end of the price spectrum and bring them to Jimmy when the pump fails.
@JimmyMakingitwork

Hahaha, buy them and bring them in!!!

You think so? Thank you very much Bill! I'm trying to improve my camera work, but it's hard trying to make a living while improving my YT channel on the side at the same time. I always feel like it should have been better. :)

That's a lot of work for a water pump. How many hours for that job?
@JimmyMakingitwork
@JimmyMakingitwork 2 года назад
It pays 11.8 and took about 8.5 - 9 hours. Hard to say exactly since they kept pulling me off and it was a 3 day process. lol

I have yet to find a single video showing the physical removal of the timing chain cover on a Lincoln MKZ. Most videos are of removal from a Ford Edge. The 2 or 3 that show someone working on an MKZ always cut out the part showing the cover being pulled from the engine bay with the engine still in the car.
@JimmyMakingitwork
@JimmyMakingitwork 2 месяца назад
The cover lifts out the top, catches a little in the bank 1 cylinder head area. But it lifts right out without much fuss.

Great vid! Knowing it was a dumb design, I change coolant religiously. 226k so far. I know it’s coming though
@JimmyMakingitwork
@JimmyMakingitwork Год назад
Yeah, the bearings have a life span. Coolant changes will keep it from speeding up the process though!

Yeap another 3.5 waterproof about 100k is all there good for I disagree that the car is only good for 65k life expectancy. The 3.5 with the waterpump always changed is good for 500k easy
@JimmyMakingitwork
@JimmyMakingitwork 3 месяца назад
My life expectancy is a bit of a misnomer. It’s for when the problems start and medical conditions begin. ;)

Hi I have a Lincoln mkz 07 and I need a new water pump if I’m going to replace that should I get the timing done also?.
@JimmyMakingitwork
@JimmyMakingitwork Год назад
I usually do replace the timing components unless it’s low mileage and everything looks very good in there. A lot of work and not much in parts to do it all while in there.

Those Fords with they’re stupid water pump design
@JimmyMakingitwork
@JimmyMakingitwork 2 года назад
IT amazes me that so many manufacturers are going to similar designs. The real problem is if you don't catch it in time it destroys the engine entirely. :0
