I use a cleansing “milk” to melt my makeup and then I go in with a wet (knock-off) halo to wipe all the residue away because I feel like it’s a lot softer than a flannel. Then I go in with a cleanser with my hands and once I’m happy with that I take the excess off with the halo again. I think it’s a gentle and eco-friendly tool but I would never use it to remove my actual makeup

respectfully disagree about the face halo. tbh i dont know anyone who is using the facehalo without a cleanser. and you absolutely DON'T have to wash them every time. you buy a 3 pack for only $21 bucks or so and you can send them back for free. its really quite sustainable. I use them inplace of a cotton pad for toners and micellar water. i use one side for my face and the other side for my eyes. I think their branding is off saying you can use it with just water. it's so much more useful for removing eye makeup/replacing cotton rounds. plus if you do laundry once a week you just chuck them in and theyre dyer safe too. ive had a pack of 3 for years, since they launched and have no issues whatsoever. the fibers are SUPER densely packed and never shed too which i find that cheaper cloths are thinner and can shed. Theyre also super useful for makeup brushes and wiping off colors in between uses. and great for travel too. i think they are an advertising fail but def not a product fail.
@artchick07

I use my face halo with CeraVe micellar water to help remove sunscreen. Basically, I use it in place of cotton rounds. I like that I can wash it. Also, I can't find an allergen free cleansing oil and I don't wear makeup.

Thank you for saying that about The Body Shop! As a brand I totally support them, they do some great work. I’d buy their hand cream, soap, maybe make up but not sure. But I have not been interested in their face skin care products for years! I just looked at the ingredients list lmao. It seemed so over priced for what’s in there, along with a load of perfume and colouring, which I’ve always just thought isn’t necessary for skin care. I’m interested in the product, not the scent or the colour. Also about that facial puff thing I’ve seen some products that claim to remove makeup and or clean your face with just water and I don’t really understand how that would work.

About face halos, I use them everyday as a first step in my makeup removing routine and they are great ! Something that isn't talked enough about products we use on our face is that they end up in our water. Oil especially is difficult to remove and has a tendency to clug and cause breackage in waste water stations. Please think about what you use, water is essential to our lives 💧

Unfortunately the Body Shop does have unnecessary fragrance in their skincare, but a lot of their products are actually really good! I’ve been working there for a few years and I usually refer people to the fragrance free products (aloe) but I also suggest some with fragrance, but only if their skin can tolerate it. :) love you James

I love the face halo - but I think you make some fair points. It is a little fiddly to wash them but I don't think it's that difficult, you just quickly bar soap it after using it, and put it in the laundry sometimes, can put it in with your whites if it's white or with your coloured clothes if it's black, but I get you don't need that with an oil cleanser. I think they do a great job getting makeup off and I find them really gentle - I wear Estee Lauder Double Wear which is heavy and I've found this product fantastic. I normally follow up with an actual cleanser so I suppose for me, it is replacing the oil part, but I just don't like the idea of not using a cleanser so I just do that for my own sake!

If you haven't tried Mamonde, I think they do such a good line that definitely helps with oily and dehydrated skin. I love their Rose Water toner to moisturize my skin and decrease sebum production. I also LOVE their Floral Moisture cream moisturizer. I love The Body Shop, especially their skincare, which has worked wonders for my skin, but I agree with you about the Drops of Youth series. The sales people are always trying to sell it to me, and even their social media pages constantly advertise it. I've tried it, it's fine, but certainly overhyped by them. But it works! It's hydrating and soothing, and is great for a damaged skin barrier, but it's also one of the most expensive lines released by TBS, and there are certainly better products out there with a better price point. It's a shame, because TBS has so many fantastic products and effective series that don't get the love they deserve. Please review more TBS products, James, please! They need more love in the skincare community, especially considering their strong social and environmental advocations partnered with effective skincare products.

No face halo. But!- love “gothic” makeup. So a double cleanse is a MUST. DHC oil cleanse and then philosophy’s cleanser. On days i only have eyebrows on- I’ll do a micellar water on a reusable cotton pad (thanks Hyram-!) and then my cleanser 💞 the reusable cotton pads were like 15$ on amazon . There are so many “cotton” rounds that you don’t feel pressured to do laundry everyday. I have enough for almost 2 full weeks AND watching you tubers like you and Hyram have gotten me to stop using makeup wipes ❤️

throwin my 2 cents in here.. i wear a lot of makeup daily and using an oil based balm gently with a face halo (or other microfibre cloth) really speeds up the first cleanse process for me. i feel like it also gets a much deeper clean in smaller crevices like the sides of my nose rather than my fingers☺️

Oh, and ya face halo type deals are microfiber cloths, which attract oil moledules like crazy, and are very soft. So they don't tug as much as you'd think, but I'd say they're ideal for micellar water, or to wipe off oil cleanser. A wet microfiber will wipe off oil cleanser so clean! Without the mess of flooding your counters. Just a thought. I wash my face in the shower, myself 😊

I use an off brand face halo thing - I got a pack of 5 for £13. I used mine slightly damp with warm water, with a good splash of micellar water on the top. This removes my make up. Then I finish my double cleanse with Elemis pro collagen marine gel cleanser. ✨ Squeaky clean 🤩 my favourite double cleanse xx

To be fair, I work with the Body Shop as a Body Shop at Home Consultant, and the reviews I get are insane! The “anti aging” ingredient is the edelweiss stem cells which “stimulates regeneration of dermal connective tissue which is important as it holds collagen and elastic tissue in it. Edelweiss is also known for protecting against UV radiation. It has also been used for its antioxidant properties”
@JamesWelsh
@JamesWelsh 4 года назад
Ahhh i see. Even so, stem cells in skincare is a grey area! The idea is cute but the stem cells in plants have to be alive to replicate what they do for plants, on our skin! It’s more of a marketing gimmick with suggestive science if that makes sense?!

James Welsh thank you for replying!! honestly they don’t tell us anything about the products and so this is just what I had googled! I watch loads of skin care videos and so in reality I know that it may not actually do anything, but when my customers ask what makes it anti aging I have to tell them something! I have to pay for uni somehow 😂😭

Even though I use an oil cleanser every day, sometimes a face halo and some micelar water come in handy. This is their main function in my opinion. Other than that, keep up with the good work. Kisses

I bought the face halo because I wanted to support Chloe Morello who I love! And love the eco friendly nature of it but.. it straight up didn’t work for me unfortunately! Didnt take off all my makeup and I just generally didn’t enjoy using it

Sometimes I use a microfiber halo stile cloth to the last part of the cleaning process, when I'm rinsing my second step. Then It's very useful to realize that you haven't properly clean your hair line or back your ears or part of your neck. And you can do it with this tool and a little of your soap. Then I clean it with a basic glycerin soap and let it dry. Ready to use next night routine. Some days it comes perfectly clean, great. Some others you are not doing a great job. But they are soft, I go very gentle and they work for me. And to take the final part of masquera that gets on your eyes. A little bit of micellar water in the cloth and softly takes off the rest of makeup. No more cotton tips or anything

I love my face halo like towels. I use them damp to do my final dry off and check around the hairline for any left over makeup or sun screen. The damp towel doesnt remove too much water and can help me get the last little bits from places it’s hard to slash water into.

Instead of a Face Halo, I use microfiber cloth (pitched to clean and not scratch cars) from the dollar store here in the US. The cloth is as soft as or softer than the Halo and I use that instead of a muslin cloth. I still use cleansers but find that when I use my microfiber towel my face gets cleaners than when I don't. When done I wash it with a good bar soap. I use my microfiber towel when doing my makeup to wipe brushes, swatches, fall out, etc. Love it :-)

I use a facehalo! But not for removing make up. I use it to remove my peel with a neutralizing cleanser! That's also my best tip for the ordinary peel. Always use a super gentle neutralizing cleanser after you've removed the bulk of the peel. Or any peel

I never realised the actual purpose of the face halo. I don’t have one but honestly learnt a lot today. I have invested in reusable cotton pads, for my acid stage but it was a pack of 20 and they’ve been fab.

I’m starting to see “probiotics” in skincare a lot recently from my understanding of how they work inside your gut and what they actually do I don’t see how they’d be beneficial in actual skincare what are your thoughts?

Hsaenz11 I don't either. Besides that, high quality, effective probiotics *must* be refridgerated/kept cold to even preserve the actual bacteria strains in them.

I have a face halo and I love it! Thing is that I rarely use makeup because of work, but when I do I just put water on it to remove the top layer of makeup and then do a double cleanse. I know that the double cleanse probably would do the work, but I feel like I don’t get as much residue on the towel afterwards when I use the halo 😊

I agree with you about using oil to remove makeup. It gives more slip and not as much friction on the skin. I have used the makeup eraser, it's the same concept as the face halo, it did the job very well I liked it better than expected.

I think with the face halo and wipes, people like the satisfaction of seeing makeup come off, otherwise they may feel like it's still there (even tho with wipes it still is there). Also, I bought my first 2 Korean beauty products because of you! 1 of them being a sunscreen for oily skin. I can't wait to try them. I just bought whatever Superdrug had that was vegan cruelty free before, without much thought of what my skin needs.

I use the Makeup Eraser and it absolutely does remove waterproof makeup with just water. In order to prevent having to scrub/ tug, you just need to use a bit of extra water and soak the waterproof makeup for just a bit. I have to soak my waterproof makeup longer with micellar water to remove it than with my Makeup Eraser. I do use the two together occasionally.

Completely agree with you about the Mario Badescu sprays! I had the orange one and the main thing I disliked about it was that the spray was so "wet" if that makes sense? It just literally felt like I was drenching my face with a bucket of water every time I used it lol. I also felt like it wasn't doing anything for my skin- it didn't even feel like it was refreshing 🤷

Face halo is amazing tbh 😍I’m using it since October, but yeah you have to wash it everyday but it’s not that difficult if you rub it in a solid soap and water.. when I have heavy make up I add micellar water, it takes everything off. Also it is so gentle, my face doesn’t become red, or dry afterwards. For 1 it’s £7 and because you use it for at least 200 times it’s worth it, in my opinion, so you can avoid tons of cotton pads

I bought a small cleansing mitt on AliExpress once and to be honest I was surprised! I user it in the shower so I can wash it right after use, it's pretty good with waterproof makeup and it doesn't need tugging at all, I am rather delicate with my face. I follow this with some other cleansing method just to make sure everything is out, but I wasn't expecting that outcome at all : )

As for the face halo, I do think they are kind of unnecessary because you can just as easily buy a pack of reusable cotton rounds from Amazon for much cheaper (there’s usually 10-15 to a pack as well so they last longer without having to wash them as often). I personally use the reusable cotton rounds for removing my eye makeup (I like to use a separate product for removing my eye makeup, and it’s much easier and faster to use the Lancôme eye makeup remover to break down the eye makeup and remove it than to use my cleansing balm). I generally just use a cleansing balm, though, to remove my face makeup/sunscreen. (My current favorite cleansing balm is the Then I Met You Living Cleansing Balm!)

When I worked for the Body Shop, they got us to push the drops of youth soooo much. We were told to recommend it to literally anyone and even for myself at 21, I was told it would prevent aging and thats how we should speak about the product. I went through like 2 small size bottles and like I enjoyed it but I realized I could be getting so much more out of a serum. I think it was pushed so hard because it is a product that many different skin types can enjoy but it was also one of the more pricier serums so it made us so much money. I definitely think it was pushed way too hard though and a lot of the time I'd recommend other products that were more suitable to the persons concerns and got pulled up on my stats with my manager questioning why I had sold so little. Just some interesting back story as to where the hype comes from - the company just like "hero" products that are pricey and can be pushed on to anyone; as with products like the hemp hand cream and the luxury range of body butters/scrubs

Hey James, love your videos! I personally really like my face halo for a quick makeup removal. I will say I still double cleanse, because I believe that’s the best way to fully clean your skin. It’s very soft so I don’t find myself pulling or tugging like I used to way back in makeup wipes days. I think they can come in handy for nights when you drink a little too much or when you just need remove your makeup for the gym/workout

I'll use my makeup eraser along side with a cleanser only when I want a little exfoliation, but don't want to use an exfoliating product again that week. I also got mine half off because I wanted one for environmental reason, next on the list is reusable cotton rounds.

I use my "face halo" (Its cheap like 5 pack from amazon but the same thing...) all the time. Soak it in water and makeup remover and gently removes makeup then I cleanse. I put used ones in a laundry bag and wash with my laundry. easy peasy. (i am slowly getting away from using toss away stuff like cotton rounds etc)

100% agree with the face halo. I saw the ads and passed on quickly after I remembered my incredibly soft face cloth I bought from yes, Dollarama does the SAME thing. AND it’s bigger so I get more use out of it in between washes. I like to use it with micellar water to help clean the hard to get spots i.e., around the nostrils and eyelids.
