Toyota Tundra Overland Rig Build Update:
Installation and initial impressions of the Leitner Designs ACS Classic Bed rack for my rooftop tent.
This is to help me attain more vertical truck bed space compared to my previous rack, as well as additional storage space in order to free up the cab.

This looks like a really well thought out system that creates a ton of practical, usable space. I'd love to have multiple compartments accessible from the outside of my rig like this. I appreciate the modular way you can configure this to your specific needs. Looks like an excellent upgrade, congrats!

Very cool! I'm looking forward to seeing it person next week. Remind me while we are out there to give you my idea on how to lock your axe and shovel enough for when you go into a grocery store or something like that. It won't stop the most determined thief, but the average quick grabbing type. Oh, and I know what new tent you have.....he he!

@@toddmayta7615 totally agreed. The cost of the rack was deterrent enough for me that I went with a Yakima rack. The add-ons would have been that much more.

I have the ACS Forged on my Tundra TRD Pro. Super tough and built to the nuts. Still deciding what I want to do for attachments. I also have the Skycamp 2.0 on it. Need to order the Leitner tent mounts. Had to fab my own because the load bars are so thick. If you can afford it and doing a lot of offroad go with the Forged. If you make it my way into MT hit me up!

I need to know what it’s like with the roof top tent on it. The wind drag and the wind noise. Is it much worse? It’s definitely a far more functional rack. Looks bad ass

You can buy 5 lb propane tanks. They also have shorter 11lb propane tanks like this one: www.acehardware.com/departments/outdoor-living/grills-and-smokers/propane-cylinders-and-accessories/80244?store=16261&gclid=EAIaIQobChMI8retm8r66QIVUPDACh2hRw8MEAQYCSABEgK17fD_BwE&gclsrc=aw.ds To refill, you can buy a hose and adapter from Amazon which will allow you to refill from a typical 20lb tank from big box stores. If you google “propane refill” in your local area, there may be propane refill stations that carry all of the aforementioned items. Best of luck brother. Ps- diggin the new logo! 👊

I presently owned a 2006 6 foot Nissan Frontier that I installed an ACS rack with 48-inch crossbars. I would like to move the complete system over to a six-foot 2021 Toyota Tacoma limited. Is that possible, or would I need to change out the 48inch crossbar to 72 inches?

GoFast has the thinnest and lightest tent that would probably fit in your garage. However they are expensive(for rooftop tents) and have a huge wait time

Hey Edward, thanks for these videos! I'm considering getting a rack for my Roofnest Falcon XL like you have, and I was wondering about the difference in noise between this Leitner rack and the more aerodynamic KB Voodoo that you previously had. Does the taller Leitner with the tent make noise on the freeway that you can hear in the cab?

I don’t notice much noise because my exhaust is loud, but I did notice the kbvoodoo when I have it because the bars would flex a lot

Do you feel like that third gear pod was necessary and do you feel like if you put two on there would there be no space on the decked for miscellaneous items? I ordered one with an XL pod but that’s all I can afford at the moment…. Sick rig BTW! Looks great, well shot video as well, they should sponsor you if they haven’t already.

Hi Edward. Can you give me some thought on your open bed rack, as opposed to a closed canopy - eg. keeping kit inside the trunk dry if its raining. Also, not seen in your videos yet, but do you have a fridge? / where are you keeping it? All the best, Steve, Scotland.

Hey, I keep my gear in the gear pods or the decked drawer. On the exposed bed, I’ll usually carry totes or things like wood, camp chairs, etc that need immediate access and can get a little dirty

@fong_vang each pod has its own set of keys. The xl pod with has two locks are keyed to the same key

Maybe a dumb question but is this system easy to remove if needed? I'm thinking about if I need the vertical space when moving something. Could it be taken off and added back on?

Michael Bingham it would be easy, if you don’t mind unscrewing the bolts . Also, you can just remove the crossbars to give it vertical space in between the side racks

Vandal # Six there is some contact there so there may be some friction through movement. But I placed a magnetic sheet between the tailgate and the bag just in case

Zinc plated hardware may last a year before they start rusting. Stainless would be better. Nice setup otherwise. Enjoy your videos.

This is called Oscar’s Mobile Hideout by LastUSBags. It does have some contact points which I put magnetic sheets in between to prevent scratching

By the way, in case you’ve never been in the military as it seems you haven’t “military grade” just means “trash”. The U.S. military always goes with the lowest bidder and everything breaks constantly. Civilians have no idea that “military grade” is not a good thing. I think it’s hilarious.
