The GX 470 is truly a great car. Unlike most 4x4 trucks, it rides really nicely and it’s very affordable. I just wish I remember what it felt like to ride in my parents’ GX when I was 3.
My dad has an 04 GX in black and I think the 1st gen is the most special. Can’t go wrong with the off the line torque and usable 3rd rows. Putting my foot down, the kickdown shifts are really satisfying. Great for Michigan weather that’s for sure. Awesome video Topher!
We spent a week filming all sorts of stuff we can’t get out here in MI - Rivian, some exotics, personal cars like this. It was a fun trip, will definitely be back again to do something similar.
Did the exhaust manifold crack? I thought I heard that sound but I wasn’t sure. That is one of the few common issues with these. I was hoping there was a set of Thorley headers to hear a bit about.
Awesome ride, I have been rigging out my 07 GX. Could you explain a little further your Ipad and Garmin Setup? So the Garmin allows the Ipad to have gps data for Gaia but then how are you getting engine data? A Bluetooth OBD2 and an app?
Hi there, I’m the owner. It was running an iPad Pro 10.5”. The Garmin connects to the iPad to provide GPS data and I use a Veepeak OBD reader that transmits vehicle data via Bluetooth. To tie it altogether the iPad is running the OBDFusion app to display the info. Hope this helps.
