Welcome back everyone!

Alot of prep work went into it but we got Barbs ready in time for Southeast Overland & Off-Road Expo 2022! and man, what an awesome time it was, made so many awesome friends and met with so many companies. Most of all, we got to test out the Overland Dodge Dakota we had been building in previous episodes. There will be an additional video next week addressing in depth how each improvement went, however, the entire truck did phenomenal ...while leaving plenty room for improvement, haha.

Great truck and driving! The tent is slick! Will keep checking out the project. I've got an '03 3.9 with a 5spd and 4x4. I love it! Currently on new keys and blocks with roughly stock mud tires for a little extra clearance. Cost and fitment of the spare are so far keeping me from bigger tires.

Thanks! Definetly been driving this truck for awhile, and thanks yeah definitely subscribe then if you wanna keep up! Next video is gonna be a review of the truck’s performance and talk about future projects/installs! And how do you like the 5 speed?? Im questioning if I want to manual swap, my truck originally was a 3.9 but I swapped in a 5.9 I had rebuilt. And yeah idw think about how much these wheels and tires cost… especially since I don’t plan on babying them😅

@@Al.Venture Subbed! I really like the 5spd. You'd have a burnout machine when you want one! It's a joy to drive daily and does good off-road. With good tires and 4 hi it pulls itself long nicely in first, sometimes I get the clutch a little warm on tough spots. I have Hankook m/t's and haven't really needed bigger yet, but the itch remains! I think that our truck's manual trans is the NV3500 but the bigger dodges got the NV4500. If you're going as far as trans swap the big one might fit with minimal modding.

Yeah I actually have my old tires I wanna burn off! Might be a good video haha, and yeah I believe the 4500 is compatible with the 3.9/5.3/5.9 platform, would definitely be sick!

Love the truck! Hey I just inherited a 2000 Dakota 5.9 L 4x4. It has a little over 14k miles on it. I have been scouring the internet for suspension options and not much out there. I'd love to pic your brain on the topic!

I love the way you build your kota looks nice it don’t have to much mods on it. It looks just right I have a 01 kota with the 5.9l I still got a lot of work to it too

Thanks man! I actually am always conflicted between going over the top or keeping the looks simple, I’m stuck on if I wanna go fiberglass fenders/bedside tooo😩

Heck yeah! These trucks live forever! I had a 3.9 as well, I went up to 217k and then for fun swapped in a 5.9 I had rebuilt. What truck did you move onto?

Great video man, your getting alot better at vlog style videos! I'd be very interested in a video of how you went about the 4.7 swap from a v6. Such things as ecm changes and such. Iv got a 5.2 I'd like to swap into a dakota just looking for general guidance haha

I’ve got a 2003 Dodge Dakota but mine is a 2 wheel drive with too low of a ground clearance for off-road. But it has 258,000 miles on it.

I can't believe a Florida truck with that many miles looks so clean, they are usually piles of rust with wheels.

Thanks man! A lot of love and work has gone into it! It’s actually my first car I got back in high school, and is from NY where the rust and road salt is insaaane. It definitely has *some* rust (rocker panels are extra crispy) but that’s gonna be addressed soon as we begin adding fabrication into the channel👍🏻

I actually found it down in Florida! I looked for months and this was the first one that went for sale in the same state as me😂 I’m actually gonna be making an install video on this hood, it’s definitely been a project restoring it due to the previous owner “modifying” it to fit a 3” body lift🙄

What year Dakota do you have and what lift did you get? I have a 2001 and want a suspension lift and am hearing I’m gonna have to swap in a steering box from and older model and trash the rack and pinion in mine

Hey man I appreciate the comment! Sorry for the delay I had to take some time but now we’re back in business🤘🏻 I use an osmo pocket mounted on the dash area. It’s got a mechanical gimbal built in and I’ve used it on almost all of my videos.

So I have what’s called re-indexed keys, basically it allows you to have more preload (which is how our trucks get lift sadly) and I also have cast iron blocks in the rear, I had billet aluminum ones before but I actually broke them (just casual driving before I started actually off-roading🙄) are you on any Facebook groups??

I have an 03 dakota slt as well. It's a quad cab and I am currently running a supreme suspension lift kit. It has 2" blocks in the rear and 3" keys for the front, ran me just a couple hundred bucks for it. I'm waiting for some tires and then I'ma be putting on a 3" body lift with guards.

I have a 2003 Durango and 2003 Dakota quad cab. Bought a tuff country lift (modifying mount for power steering Rack n pinion).

@@kona5853 the 5-1/2" lift? those are for the 97-99 daks, what all did you do to make it work?

@@SoreTv⁠⁠⁠⁠⁠it’s not done yet but the power steering rack needs to be mounted 4.25-4.5” lower on the new front lift crossmember. Assembling a hp44 center into a ifs like the d35 or the aluminum 8” one in my truck.
