I've been watching a few of your videos and I came across this one and thought, "I wonder if he's going to be anywhere near where I hunt". Sure enough, 14S30 is one of the trails I use when I'm deer/bear hunting. As a matter of fact, I was on that trail exactly 20 days before you uploaded this.
I really enjoyed this video. Felt like I was in the driver's seat of my old FZJ 80 with the ARB, limb risers etc. Great narrative, details and good music.
This is awesome! Heading to this area next week. I know this was a long time ago but you don't happen to have GPS coordinates for this exact camping spot do you? Again great video! Subscribed
Nice... we just got our new SR5 and already prepping her overland... First overland is this coming long weekend, from Fresno to San Diego. Will be hitting highway 1...
Good trip, looks like fun. Who was watching the two children? I have just finished (has anyone ever finished) preparing a "97 Landcruiser. Can't wait to try it out. Thank you for the video, All good ideas.
Nice work guys, the USA has some awesome landscapes. So much different to what we have here in Australia. I would love to ship my 80 to the US and overland the country for awhile. Maybe one day. Keep it up,Noel.
really cool vid man, I am preparing our own 80 series, the jolly green giant just for that, me my wife and the kids. I am just waiting for our youngest to be over 1 year old so we can start our trips. The tip about the ice I am testing tomorrow morning.
Love the video! I was recently up in Sequoia with my girlfriend to check out the sites! Unfortunately we primarily stayed around then"touristy" bits. Way too crowded. Man, I want to get into over landing so bad!!!!! I've got an itch that I can't seem to scratch haha.
Great vid. Keep them coming. Question? Why do I see soooo many CB antennas located in the middle of vehicles hoods and not on the side? Thanks for taking the time.
In this case it is the one true mounting point of the ARB bumper, and it is less likely to get hit and bound up by brush you charge through. Totally personal preference though. If you go through a lot of brush, you don't really want it on the side.
Nice! I live on the way up to the national park, and there's a lot of good views up there, you should plan a trip up to shaver lake area and try those trails up there it's beautiful and check out the lakes up there
Clinton Jernigan Hey there! Glad you enjoy the videos. Those are Plano Cases. I have more information on the website here: overlandbound.com/weekend-adventure-supply-list
The world is such a small place. I stumbled across your channel yesterday as I was researching roof racks. There's a used Suburban I'm thinking of buying that has a Front Runner Slimline roof rack, which the owner will include for an extra charge. I watched your Roof Rack review vid, and I can guess what your advice would be on whether I should pay extra for the "modular" Front Runner rack. Today, thanks to RU-vid, your Sequioa National Park vid popped up on my "recommended" list, and I just clicked on it. I'm watching you walk out to the vehicle at around 3:35, and I'm thinking to myself, gee I know a hillside that looks just like that. Funny. And then you're driving down the hill, past the tennis courts, and across the Laurel Street intersection, and I realize that, yeah, I drive past your house every time I go to my buddies' house at the top of the hill. I've watched dozens of overlanding videos on RU-vid from all over the USA and Australia and around the world, and it was a blast watching a video starting off in a location I know all too well, like the Trader Joe's I've been going to for years. I laughed out loud at the symphony music in the parking lot! I love the time lapse on the freeways. Thanks for the nibble on ice tip - the Suburban I might buy is in North Carolina, and I plan on driving it back with my brother-in-law. It will be my first cross country trip. I'm just getting started in offroad camping. I took the Esprit de Four offroad clinic at Hollister Hills in May. Now that I've found your channel, I'm gonna watch every single one of your vids! Thanks for putting out such a quality product!
+Overland Bound my wife and I are planning a epic journey that takes us on a trip like this through sequoia. So you didn't need a backcountry permit to camp? And how did you plan which trails to take?
Overland Bound Got it. Another Michael then. Anyway...we're inland from you over here in Butte County (Paradise). Been Jeep camping a bunch in our high country. Slowly building up my '92 YJ but I think within the next couple years I want an 80's Land Cruiser to turn into an expedition rig. I grew up in Africa bouncing around in Land Cruisers from late 70's through the 80's. Besides, a small Wrangler really limits family comfort, dog portability and gear selection. I have enjoyed living vicariously through you and others like Wayalife and Expedition Overland. Thanks for the videos. Maybe we'll bump into you up here in NoCal sometime. My friend Jason and I do a series of overnight Jeep excursions around Plumas/Lassen/Tahema County National Forest and wildnerness trails. Just got a GoPro...so stay tuned.
Zccbc Its a 96 Cruiser. I chose Mud terrain because I like the more aggressive tread and grip on rock and in mud. Mud terrains can also be aired-down to 10psi easily. It's just personal pref - what I trust.
I would not yell about Tequila up there. Those guys with the hydro suspension in their low riders go up and they known to take it from people. They do not drive up low the whole way they raise up over a few times I heard.
Hey Earl, Those are Plano cases. that's the sport locker. It is a great balance between durability and cost IMO. Check them out here: overlandbound.com/camping-in-a-box/
