🌎 OUR EPIC DRIVE AROUND THE WORLD CONTINUES
In this episode, we leave the city of Cajamarca and set our sights on the hidden gem of Peru's Chavín archeological site.
🇵🇪 NORTHERN COAST OF PERU
To get there, we travel down the Pan-American Highway along Peru's northern Pacific Coast. It isn't what you expect. This is a stretch of one of the least scenic sections of the Pan-American Highway. Notorious for its lack of beauty and caretaking, we show you what it is really like.
🚨 POLICE CHECKPOINT CHRONICLES
We navigate through multiple police checkpoints, sharing valuable advice for fellow overlanders on how to handle these encounters like seasoned pros. From cultural nuances to essential tips, we've got you covered!
🏔️ But the adventure doesn't stop there! We rev up our Jeep Gladiator and drive back into the stunning Cordillera Blanca mountain range of Peru, making our way to the vibrant city of Huaraz.
🏰 CHAVÍN DE HUANTAR: A JOURNEY THROUGH TIME:
In this video, we go all Indiana Jones. Join us as we explore one of Latin America's most important archaeological sites: Chavín de Huantar! Get ready for an incredible experience as we take you deep underground into an ancient temple which dates back 3,000 years.

I'm with Brittany: there's nothing like visiting the ancient stones in person. My wife and I have hit several in Mexico; it's addictive!

Right? This archeological site was really a 5 star experience for the lover of ancient ruins. Not easy to get to which is why it is lightly visited, but highly recommended nonetheless. ~ Eric

Awesome video as always Hourless Life. Thank y'all for letting us ride along with y'all on y'all's adventures. I agree with Brittany the mountains are so much better than the coast. Y'all always find the most unique places and the markets are so interesting to see all the hand crafted goods.

There is no question that the mountains are the way to go for scenery and beauty and vistas, and color, and culture. But brother let me tell you, first those mountain roads are no joke. Secondly, it is EXTREMELY slow going and these countries are massive. Do an overlay of Peru on the United States on a Google search and you'll see what I mean. Top that off with even on the highways here, our average speed is around 30 mph. So it is a balance of trying to enjoy the beauty, but still make it through the country safely and before our visas and TIP expire. ~ Eric

I loved your visit to the ancient ruins. This is somewhere I’d never had learned about if I had not been following along on your journey. Taking us through the mountains was also wonderful to see. It really added to the journey even though it took longer to travel that way.

We were so incredibly impressed by this site. Definitely an underrated gem in the Andes of Peru! It was surreal going that deep underground and seeing 3000 year old construction. ~ Eric

Very cool places. PanAm Highway is sad but the rest of your stops were beautiful.

Yes, it was a hard thing to witness. Very shocking to see it in person in such an otherwise beautiful country. ~ Eric

Awesome video guys! Really enjoyed seeing it. Many thanks. Could the gasoline smell have come from your cook stove? If I remember right, you use gasoline in that??? Just a thought.

We thought of that and checked it too. No spillage. The fumes were not coming from the area where we stow our stove. So we don't think that was the source. ~ Eric

do you have a mobile printer in case you have to print out more documents?
@HourlessLife
@HourlessLife 6 месяцев назад
We don't. There are plenty of shops all over where you can just put docs on a thumbdrive, or even save them as a .pdf and email them or text them to a number and they will print it out for you for pennies on the dollar. So we don't have to use space to take up a printer, and buy paper or carry ink. I know other overlanders do carry one, to me it is generally a waste of space and weight which is at a premium. But to each his/her own right? Just my .02. But great question. ~ Eric
