Very good and helpful video! Fantastic photos! I hope y’all don’t mind if I ask a few questions: -How long did it take y’all to drive from Hans Flat to Panorama Point? -do y’all think a stock crewcab pick up truck with 4wd could handle this? (I don’t have experience with technical 4wd roads either) -How many campsites are at Panorama Point? Would there be other people camping there too or is it just the one? Thanks!
Nathaniel, thanks - It is 11-miles from Hans Flat to Panorama Point and it is a 4 to 5-hour round trip. Camping in the Maze is by permit only - canypermits.nps.gov - sometimes walk-up permits can be picked up at the Hans Flat ranger Station (435-259-4351) - so call. A 4-WD pickup should be ok provided you go slow and the road is not washed out from storms. Call the Ranger Station to check on road conditions. There are several BLM campsites along Hans Flat road and I have never had any trouble getting a site and other campers are not a problem. Be advised that from the Hans Flat ranger station it is still 2+ hours and 63-miles back to Hanksville and gas. Great fun so enjoy the ride.
no facilities, only beautiful scenery - Panorama point is in the Maze of Canyonlands and to get a permit and camp there you must have a portable toilet and pack out your waste-no cat holes.
Thanks, shot my video of Panorama Point on 9/14/22. Love the Maze, and I would love to go back but unfortunately, the NPS does not allow shooting video for RU-vid in its National Parks anymore.
I was told that even though I am not making any money from my videos, Google and RU-vid ARE making money from them and that if I film in a national park and don't have the proper permits and pay the fees, that I am subject to fines, and prosecution, so I don't make RU-vid videos anymore in national parks. These are the same NPS Nazis that allow horses in national parks but I can't take my dog with me in the backcountry.
