I try to avoid working when there’s customers so it’s definitely nice. Our shifts at Walmart are switching to 9-8 instead of 10-7 though so there will be customers for longer and customers who are older can come from 6am on Tuesdays. Still not very bad at all though!
It’s a very good job if you arent a people’s person or as someone else said suffer from ocd , the end product is satisfying but the hours are long and the work is hard it isn’t easy, lol it looks it but it’s not I’ve just done my 2nd week stocking shelves at tesco on night shifts and the thrill of looking at it all pretty has gone😂😂just about getting the 100+ boxes of product on the actual shelf before my shift ends lol of course you have to make it look nice but it doesn’t cross your mind to do as much after the first week or two haha
Much respect for you guys. I worked that shift for several different companies for 16 years and it's definitely hard work but it was specially hard for my wife being home alone with my kids for nearly 2 decades. Now I work days as a manager and I treat my night crew as what they are. The back bone of the entire operation and I frequently visit them with pizza or subs.
@@CristoferVidz showing up in person a few times a month to talk to the crew and bring them lunch is the least I can do to show appreciation for their sacrifice. A small gesture that has worked wonders for team moral.
That’s dope man, overnight never gets recognized for anything we do and it’s a lot that we have to work with and look out for. Right now I’m a stock controller but My goal is to be a manager and I’m going to do the same for the guys because the sacrifices and hard work they put in. Big ups to you!!!
Today was my first day at Kroger, I'm in the grocery department as well. It's actually harder than it looks, almost no downtime , but with the good pay it's definitely worth it
I’m at Kroger night stock. It’s really tough right now. I have experience and knew they wanted 50 cases an hour so I was like no prob. But you have to “condition” as you go like blocking and making the shelves neat and keep you’re aisles and cardboard cleaned up and make bales in the same time. I have the baking/oils/jello/spices and canned meat/veggie, rice , Mac and cheese aisles. Only good part is my coworkers and they will definitely make sure you know you have room to improve
I needed to watch this from someone else's experience because I'll be doing the Walmart Overnight Stocking soon and I needed to see someone's perspective and how it works there. :)
I usta be overnight at Walmart on the inventory management team, mod team and we stocked the shelves aswell on the side. Now I've been hired with Kroger for overnight stocker.
Are you still at it? Going on 5 years myself. I don’t blame people wanting to get off thirds and wanting to go back to days but myself personally I enjoy stocking so much as a job I wouldn’t/will not look for something else right now. Maybe after another 5 years of doing it but for now, 5 years in, I love it and it provides my livelihood thankfully and then some.
I work for Albertson's in Arizona. What we do is get a big trash bag and tie it to the back of the cart. Then we get a milk crate and put stacks of cases on it. Its easy to move around and good on your back.
Thanks for the video! I’m an overnight stocker at Walmart and I got written up for my speed the other morning and a couple months or so before that I got talked to without being written up. I’m watching videos to try to find better strategies, I should start stacking things like you do and opening them instead of doing them individually. I don’t think anyone else does this at my store that I’ve observed but maybe I should start staging like we do sometimes in frozen, only when the store is closed. The main issues with that would be when maintenance is coming through with the buffer or a push broom and then when the online grocery pickup workers start at well. Maybe that’s still fine if everything is very close to the shelves, I’d have to ask a manager.
As a day stocker, it looks nice without people during overnight. While stocking, people would always interrupt me asking where the items are at. I also had to move my cart out of the way when people pass through the aisle, so my cart doesn’t block their way. In conclusion, I still enjoy my day stocking job since I have nice coworkers and my boss calls me a hard worker.
43 years in grocery, 35 frozen food. Working nights is not the opposite of day work, believe me! Sleeping during the day was a challenge at first, darken the room is a must, but i chose night work to get away from the SUITS we called them, management, the no it alls that don't no shit. Each night i averaged 500 cases in 8 hours, just me, unload the truck, break down, and stock. Usually took around 6 hours to complete. So much more work was involved, but i always loved the finished product...Nice.
I miss working at HEB so much. I worked there for 15 years and did so many different departments. I left HEB close to 3 years ago and still go visit the people there.
not sure if you still read these but since you asked, i work at an heb up in austin, im in the overnight frozen department n ive been here about a year and a couple months, started in grocery for about a year before i made the switch. in grocery we're expected 65 cases an hour in frozen about 80, but after getting my aisles down n memorizing most of the product i can throw 150~ in an hour :) your aisles look way longer than the ones at our store thats some good work there my man
I work grave yard stocking at Cost Less Foods in Ceres, CA. I average around 177 cases in 39 minutes. so roughly 354 cases every hour and 18 minutes. Thanks for the positive moto in your vids!
Cool vid, I wanted to record one of my own too. Kroger grocery for 4 years. Listening to podcasts like Rogan and comedy helped a lot because I'd run out of music. Spotting the whole pallet perfectly, stocking it end to end, coming back through to clean. Kinda fun on a normal night. Cruising at like 70-80 cases an hour or 120 if I'm motivated but that shit is hard to keep up and it definitely wasn't worth it at my pay.
I worked in pool maintenance before cleaning them and adding the chemicals pretty cool I applied at the heb in palmview as a night stocker hopefully I get the job
I do second shift sorting of the load and prep it per aisle for the night stuff. Do an overnight myself on weekends. Stocking ain't glamorous at all but there's something so satisfying getting shit done
i used to live in Houston..in the late 90s..HEB is a good store. I just decided to finally leave the construction trade and have gone back to stocking here in Maine at a store called Hannafords. they started me out at 15 an hour..great company. Thanks for the vlogs as it was a good refresher course for me as its been 10 years since i last stocked.SHOUT OUT TO HOUSTON AND ALL SURROUNDING AREAS,,THE WOODLANDS, SPRING, GREENSPOINT,NORTH SIDE SOUTH SIDE EAST SIDE WEST SIDE ...ALL THE WARDS AND WESTHEIMER STREET.GOD BLESS TEXAS AND THANKS AGAIN FROM PORTLAND MAINE
I'm a veteran of the grocery life, and I always hated stocking canned goods the most. I've worked on every aisle cans, baking goods, bags, cereals etc.. I have also worked in Produce, Dairy, and Frozen.. My best experience was working in produce.
Favorite was definitely the cereal aisle! LOL 😆, least favorite was definitely canned goods, I hate cans. All in all, I kinda miss it, however I've been in too many accidents, and I'm kinda limited. But, I definitely could work produce, or go back to my first job which was sacking groceries. 👍
It might be my first time working at Albertson's as overnight stocker I'm kind of nervous cuz I've been working as a cook for a long time I decided to get out of the kitchen and try something new so hopefully I get the job I'm excited doing something new but also nervous at the same time
Hi, I work at a neighborhood market Walmart. On my 6th year and 3rd year bakery deli. I stock freezer baker deli goods for my store. Recently I've went rock bottom where I need to prove myself again. How do I stay focused do better with productivity and have them trust my position integrity again? I need to not get in the gossip loop like I am now. I want to show up do it right and go home
I wish to shit we could stock whole case trays at my store!!! we've gotta take everything outta the case to put to the shelf. Been working over night stock for 17 years.
Facing is the best, stocking is meh and Hannaford aka food lion here in the east we stock the product out one by one on to the shelves, we cant just do it like you guys were you just get rid of the plastic and put the whole case on the shelf. But nonetheless it's still stocking and overnight .
I’m working at Kroger’s overnight currently. It’s crazy I liked stocking at Walmart, but the stocking at Kroger’s seem like more work for some reason. Plus I’m not use to overnights I’m about to look for something else asap
I’m sorry to hear that, it’s definitely a very difficult job especially schedule wise. Recently corporate has been changing the procedures. We used to be able to work product off the pallet now we have to spot the entire pallet and then work down the aisle. The older way is less hard on the body/joints but I suppose I must abide by how the company wants it|
What if i fill the rack and some amount of that things lefts in the box ... Do i need to throw them back at warehouse or i need to fill all tje things straightly ... Like i oreo packs just overfilled and some of the packs left in the box what should i do ... ,?
You'll be alright. You don't even need luck. Also, try not to get mad at cardboard, plastic, or product falling. ALSO, eventually when a product falls you'll be able to catch it one handed as it falls. Just don't try to catch falling pallets. Let the products break. Not your back
I work at Walmart. You make it look so easy. I'm only a month in or so. And I'm so slow at stocking the shelves. I know I struggle with opening the boxes so maybe I will try your way of slicing.
I’ve been working at heb overnight stocker here in Texas for about a month or so and knowing where stuff is probably the hardest part and when I stick cereal I hate when other boxes start to fall back and that just slows me down so it’s just little things that slow me down and piss me off during the night lol. Also one of our managers is very annoying because he wants you to be fast but I barely started so I’m Barely getting to know the store and he is never satisfied so he picks at any little thing
I was working at a warehouse when the roof sarting dipping water we look up saw ice hanging on the roof we got a pallet and hack the ice with hammer while standing on the pallet that was lift up by forks of forklift
Been a night stocker at Kroger for 3 years. It's busy work, and being on your feet all night takes some getting used to, but one big positive is that nights seem to fly by. If you have a good crew and the workload is spread evenly, then it isn't too bad. But, if you start off on an understaffed crew or with lazy workers, then you're probably gonna be miserable (just my experience from working at 2 different locations). Just have a good work ethic and try to learn as much from fellow workers and you'll be alright - lazy folks will either quit, be fired or moved to a separate department. Good luck to anyone who's considering working as a night stocker.
g'day bro i've done some awesome jobs that ill tell you over the time as i just followed you bro i'm about to start night packing at woolworths soon and im trying to get a head start on the job i want to be the best fastest and cleanest packer in the store cheers for any tips
I know this is from a few years back, but no, not for all product. a lot of times, dry goods like rice and beans don't come on a truck every week, but are bulk ordered and stocked. meaning all those cans will have the same date and are placed out as the shelves empty, because those items sell quickly. so you don't have to worry about the dates.
Applied for this position a few days ago do you think it’s simple as long as you just focus? Like is it usually cutting it close to being done by the time the store opens or are you usually done with a good amount of time left
Yo man! I haven’t seen you post in a while not sure if you still work for H‑E‑B overnight? Just wanted to stop by an comment that ever since I started overnight I used to watch your videos on how to stock with a system and your videos helped A LOT. Now, within a little under a year, I’ve been made stock controller and it’s a much larger position to fill but man it’s gonna help in the long run since I’m trying to become manager. Thanks for the videos bruh🔥💪
Dale Sweeney alot of work bro! just keep the right mind set and you got it bro! i have lots of videos on my channel if the overnight stocking life! if your interested in watching ! and welcome to our community'!!!
I currently work night shifts but i just started (2 days) and it’s quite overwhelming at first where products go, which is the fastest way to open a case
@@10CPS I’m sort of in between of understanding and still being somewhat confused on the products placements but my biggest weakness is definitely my speed. We start to unpackage product around 1:30 am and on average I get around 160 cases in my aisle. It’ll be 5AM and im still working on the same aisle while my co workers are on another
I applied for a job at Bed Bath and Beyond about a week ago and just had my interview yesterday. Hoping I get the job! I applied for a stock/replenish associate and I'm nervous because I don't know what to really expect.
He usually gets 300+ his isle is always the heaviest, most I've seen in that isle was 520 and he wasn't there so we got screwed, took like 5 guys in an hour to knock it out
I have become a pro at doing overnights im actually doing another one starting Thurs night and goes through til sun morning doing overnights at my work stocking shelves for easter
Roberto Matiella bro, honestly for me it is . Ive been doing this for 3 years and im still not adjusted 😣😣😣but it all about if you can get a strick sleep pattern down
i work at safeway, as a courtesy clerk which includes getting shopping carts for $8.45 when at previous job was making almost $10 gotta do what you gotta do sadly
All Job sucks bro I tried doing like 20 plus jobs in a span of 4 years and it all sucks .. from fast food to retail to laborer to home care .. lol 😂😂😂😂
Is stocking a busy job? Is it constantly stocking or are there moments where you have nothing to do and you have to do something other than your job description?
Awesome! What im looking for, I love busy work. Thanks for replying. I subscribed and i have been binging your videos the past couple of hours. I am applying to Walmart. No HEB in my area of East Texas unfortunately. They are a few hours away in Houston. Wish me luck. Hoping to get as much hours as i can. I hope I'll start out with a decent amount. Trying to pay all of my bills doing it. I need about 750-850 a month to stay in my apartment and pay my bills. Great videos btw :)
Jonathan Vandagriff over night yes you need to ducking go go go cuz ur not leaving till it's all off the floor and the aisles are all pulled forward and sometimes it'll be like 2000 cases on a busy night between 4 or 5 ppl
