Im an astrophotographer. The green tinge to the sky is called airglow. Basically, the night sky is never truly dark. Cosmic rays striking the atmosphere, collisions between the atoms that make up the atmosphere, and the changes in atoms and photons in the atmosphere cause a slight glow in the sky. In laymans terms, the Earth's atmosphere is glow in the dark. We just dont see it because the light that we create obscures it. You need to be under a sky that is essentially untouched by light pollution to see it. Unfortunate you've not got to see the aurora. Keep trying mate. Its truly a wonderful sight. As the great Carl Sagan once said, astronomy is a humbling and character building experience. Safe travels, and clear skies.
Currently in Norway with the military… to see Simon walk in bare feet on metal cracked me up! I’d have been thrashed for days… no skin uncovered when outside 😂😂😂
Such an inspiration have traveled a little bit myself since I lost my kids and your vids have kept me going spent the last few months in cyprus and since coming back to ireland has put me on on the spiraling path back to the wrong head space going to work the whole of December in cafe en seine to afford to go traveling again your vids honestly keep me going the only thing I have is to try save and go on a budget by myself to see the world
Love your mental health comments Simon..I've travelled a lot like you & want to more but now looking after elderly family and it's rubbing on my mental health a lot, your vids are fantastic, keep my travel buzz going but now i do what i have to do.. Regards
We stayed at this very place in Rovaniemi last January, I think it was exactly the same Jacuzzi that we used and we definitely had salmon in that restaurant. Brough so many happy memories back, an amazing place to visit and we saw the Northern Lights when guide took us on a late night picnic to a random wood about 45 minutes out of the city!
Can’t wait to see your next journey mate, been great seeing you back lately, watched you since the no money America challenge and just love your a genuine guy and showing us your new experiences, keep it up, love from Scotland 😜🏴
Simon, can you do an EDC/What's in my bag video? I see your new bag is the North Face Base Camp Duffel, right? We'd all love to see what kind of gear you bring along for your adventures.
So exciting you're visiting my home country Simon! I've been following you since the start and almost got emotional when I saw you're finally visiting Finland.
I went to iceland last february and stayed in a glass igloo to see the northern lights, it cost thousands, didnt see them because it was cloudy, got back to the UK, and the news said that when we were in iceland, you could see the northern lights in the UK …… Almost had a stroke. Still haven’t seen them.
Simon you have literally been on a role which is why I'm guessing we won't see you for a while now and having a break well deserved. Can't wait for new content next year. Monopoly series was the best of 2023 in my opinion.
😂 where duh ya fine a taxi in this airport? (As he stands next to the sign pointing to the taxi's)... 😔 It always the ground level by the baggage claim btw.
Bet it’s amazing to say to anyone “where are you from” and be able o tell them you’ve been and able to speak to them about their own stomping ground, sent from the not so sunny coast of North Wales 🏴
Top video as always mate and can I personally thank you for choosing such a sponsor as mental health has been an issue at times as it is for so many!!! Credit to you Simon keep it up and remember guys you’re never alone!!!
I don’t normally comment here on RU-vid. I’ve been a subscriber to your channel for a good while now and love seeing your adventures. This adventure however has really hit home for me. See, I have been with my partner now for 20 years and the one place she has always wanted to go is Finland to a glass igloo to see the aurora and as much as I hate the cold and the snow, I have always said that I would do it one year. 3 weeks ago however our world was tuned upside down with the news that she has stage 4 colorectal cancer and will be starting chemotherapy in the new year so it looks as though we will have to suspend the idea for some time. Such a shame you didn’t get the true experience but it does look like a beautiful place and I too would have been happy with the just being there. Hopefully we see Christmas 2024 and she is well enough for us to give this a try. Thank you for sharing this insight and look forward to where ever you end up next. ⛄️ 🚆 🧊
The woman at the front desk didn't seem happy at all being in Finland from her reaction. Makes you wonder how she ended up going from Spain to the north of Finland in the first place.
Oh im sad you didn't get to see the Northern Lights, but nonetheless i really enjoyed this video. Keep up the good work Simon i wish you nothing but the best.
