Hua lamphong station will be closed, after 105 years of operation. The last day is Dec.23, this year. The station building will be used for another purpose and not finalized yet. When you come back to Bangkok next time, the train will go to Bang Sue grand Station. It's good you had a chance to take a vdo of Hua lamphong.
Great you got to experience Hua Lamphong station before everything moves to Bang Sue which is a pretty soulless heap of concrete. Overnight trains in Thailand are a lot of fun.

@@TwoWheelCruise My dad worked for Southern Pacific Railroad in the US, which enabled him to move from Louisiana to Northern California (where I was born) when he was a young man. So I got to visit old stations and take train trips with the family when I was growing up.

Wow! Thank you for sharing. And yes, always carry extra food. My mom always made us eat before every outing and would take a snack bag with her. We’d complain, but her snacks saved us more than once. Be safe. Blessings on your new adventures.
I remember taking the Bangkok Chiang Mai overnight sleeper, fun train ride. Only negative was waking up to find a nice cockroach sharing my bunk with me in the morning! Other than that it was fine. Quick tip: Foot massages! Better than the regular massages especially after a tough bike ride. Trust me 🙂.
Very interesting to know the train cabin in Thailand can transform from seats into beds. This is my first time of seeing such transformation of a train cabin.
It must have felt a bit like being two kids again , sleeping on bunk beds ! So glad you had a host and decent accommodation awaiting you after the exhausting journey and by the look of it, your next rides sound very promising .

That station in Bangkok is being closed soon. A much larger central station has opened. Hopefully Thailand will preserve this historic one for another purpose.

for bluetooth earbuds i recommend `Mpow Flame 2`- they DO have cables, but best bang for the buck... and if they break, it`s no big deal, since they are like $30...
I used to live near Hua Lampong. Let me know if you ever have questions about Thailand in general (including CM). It’s my home away from home. I used to do this 2nd class train all the time. This main train station is based on the classic European stations of yesteryears..

This is 2nd class train. 3rd class train of Thailand = only chair. You will be seated throughout the journey. 1st class train of Thailand = private room.
i have aftershokz bone conduction headphones(different model) i say i use them a lot more than my airpod pros. i mainly bought it so i can listen to music while im cycling but still be aware of my surrounding, but now i use it a lot. it's not the best to be honest if you want to edit or something in a busy place since the volume of the headphones arent the best, but if you want to do other stuff where oyu need to listen to things around you, i say use the aftershoz. but if you want to listen to like your edits i say use the airpods or better yet a proper headphones.
They are really nice and comfortable, but yeah difficult to hear in a loud area. I haven't tried cycling with them yet, but will try once I get used to some usual routes here.
If you are using it with ipad and iphone its best to stay away from other bluetooth as it can be a hassle to connect between devices. If your airpods doesnt fit well you should try the airpods pro since it uses eartips.
Wow, I didn't know it is that long way from Bangkok to Chiang Mai... but the trains look good, even second class, although my partner, who is 6'8" would be sooooo f*cked
