If it wasn’t for working the overnight I never would have found out that I’m allergic to the sun.

Night shift is a great place to be a new Medic. You get to jump calls for 24 hr units, run weird, exciting calls, and make (hopefully) most of your “new medic mistakes” while everyone else is sleeping. Also a great opportunity for proper shenanigans...good times

Really good overnight tip is to keep to your schedule even when you're off duty. It's way healthier for you. Deli sandwiches are great, but contain tons of salt. Not everything needs ketchup. And unless you don't have a choice, such as those that are stuck out on the streets all night, bring your own bedding. It gives you a sense of home and just might make the plastic hard-ass bed feel a little bit more comfy.

The thing I found about working nights is that the common conception from the day walkers is that you sleep in a fire house in between the "2" calls you do at night. No matter how often I explained to my family that I'm up all night even if I'm just waiting on a corner for the next call they still act surprised or upset when I fall asleep at the wheel at 2pm picking them up from school.

+EM Photo Studios yeah it’s a tough gig. You wonder if they think that so they feel better. No one expects people to actually work at night

Hey buddy, I work as an EMT 12 hours nights and it has definitely took a toll on my sleeping schedule and just life basically. I gotten used to it and there are definitely pros and cons. What I like is being able to drive and there are no traffic and people in the streets. Great video.

I have worked every kind of shift in many different places. It's all about your partner(s). They will make or break your sanity. That being said, I think nights is a young person's shift. You can roll with it easier and you're more likely to adapt as a younger person.
@RescueRandy
@RescueRandy 4 года назад
I’ve had my share of bad partners and the DREAD of coming to work was so stressful. Do you think the night tour is a young persons game more because they have less home responsibilities or because they just physically adapt better?? 🤔🤔.

Oh, nature valley bars are great, but the ultimate chunk of food for the bag to forget til you're starving and getting hit back to back to back is Payday. Durable af and good energy, no chocolate to melt and if it gets crushed it just sticks to itself. Plus you can take it to a school as a WMD because of the peanuts!

Kudos to 9 years. I did 5 years on the night shift. Upside is availability for errands or appointments in the day before I go to sleep. Never had to take a day off for those things.

Before I worked nights I wouldn't ever tried 7 11 food. But it became one of my staples. I lived in Boston, there was some good restaurants in Chinatown that I sometimes treat myself to on payday. One stayed open till 2am.

Awesome video Randy love the channel btw man. As far as the 12 hour overnights go I've only been doing them for 2 years but for the most part I've found somewhat of a balance. I normally get tired around 12-3am but I try my best to stay up so that I can fall asleep easier when I get home. Also cool bag I need to get me one of those!

The only thing in your bag I dont have in mine is the tide pen... gmta... do need a new battery pack, all mine are pretty useless... you dont have an actual USB adapter for the cords, I bring a bluetooth to fm adapter for the front of the bus and a 6 foot extension cord I plug in the inverter to just run everything off wall plugs.
@skrewball
@skrewball 4 года назад
I keep an inverter in my car if I need it but that little battery pack does the job. I have a way bigger one that will last the week easy

Before you promote the tide pens, give them a sniff. That smell does not work in enclosed spaces for a prolonged period of time.
