True but i want each kinda balanced on physical and elemental. Some of my job roles matched while i feel if that unit had to fully stand alone with some of these they wouldn't
I hope this game makes Square Enix realise that if they ever want to remake Final Fantasy (at least FF1 through 6) they should consider doing them in this style or better yet let the studio behind Octopath Traveler make them as they did such a great job on this game!
@@cypher838 indeed. They could make it way better by giving the characters' shadows a moving shadow instead of a stationary one, though that's just a small thing.
Ahmed Falahy that seems to be the optimal way to use the Advanced Job classes. At least in my opinion. Lol either that or put Warmaster on H’aanit which also works very well. Although Warmaster is just simple enough so that it’s also versatile in which characters you put it on because it also works with Therion and Alfyn.
Trade Ophilia for Primrose and Olberic for H'aanit and you have my setup. Frankly though, H'aanit and Olberic both work so well with Warmaster, it's irrelevant which ones you choose between them. Same with Cyrus, Ophelia, and Primrose for the Starseer and Sorcerer classes. The only advanced class where one traveler is undoubtedly superior in the role is Runelord with Tressa.
@@sageofanys3476 A pity that the Runelord is where Primrose's final chapter lies, so i would've assume that the class was created for her but considered her low magic, it's not worth it. For damage dealing I recommend Cyrus as Sorcerer because he is the most magical powerful, , Olberic as warmaster and for Starseer Ophilia.
How to describe the travellers: Tressa = Untouchable Ophilia = The Doctor Alfyn = Potions Master (or just spam "last stand") Primrose = The Cheerleader Olberic = The Unbending Blade (I don't think Olberic needs a name change) Therion = The All-rounder Cyrus = OP Magician Haanit = AOE Destroyer Please find some better names. I can't think of some names for some.
If there ever is a sequel just add random party conversations at certain areas, similiar to Tales of, or Affinity Talks with markers on the map like in Xenoblade. The Cast is great and the gameplay even better. But the party has no interaction at all. While this isn't as bad as bad gameplay would be, since a game is all about that, and the story of octopath is good enough to be standalone - Character interaction is important for RPGs. These little conversations between chapters are just a bit too random and too less for my taste.
Those character interactions could have easily had VO with it too. Something I think might be cool for a future sequel is to adopt a Paper Mario: Thousand Year Door approach, where the partner character will occasionally add a line with their personality flavor during a scene. I think it could work to just have the other party members in a chapter stand to the side and each comment on whatever the interaction is. That would help feel like less like each chapter is this bubble.
I feel like the story would have felt less disconnected if they made you go through everyone's chapter 1 stories before moving forward in the game, that way all of the character's chapter 2, 3, and 4 stories could be written with the entire party involved. This is one of my only complaints about the game tbh
I played this game for 7 minutes the other day and picked the scholar bro because he can see enemy weaknesses or whatever. Thought that was a good idea. now I'm not so sure
Thank you for mentioning just about the only thing good about Tressa. Her stats are too middling for most jobs to be good, but Transfer Rune Sidestep and Transfer Rune Rest are both reasons my brother beat Mánagarmr so easily
"only" good thing tressa have? lol she can do pretty much every job because her stats(and because everyone can reach max attack stats easily so she can get the most DPS damage in the game if use all the elemental boost weapon and stuff)and runelore tressa just broke the game(even some post game boss)she can wide party heal+SP+status cure(equip the support skill that increase Sp and Hp healing by 30% while increasing Tressa elemental defense so Ophillia is not needed as much) she can side step whole party so R.I.P any boss that use physical(hehe war master) if you want a short version that Tressa can deal the most DPS if gear right and can heal Party Hp+Sp+Status and the most famous is tranfer rune side step whole party to make u practilly invinsible against alot of foe it the "only" thing she is good at but clearly this job is made for her
Got the game recently, wanted to do Haanit - hunter/warrior Tressa - merchant/thief Ophilia - cleric/sorcerer Primrose - dancer/sorcerer But you can't pick the same 2nd job twice in your active party -__-
Lol do what I do, save and THEN you steal. If you keep failing keep reloading your save, your reputation will still remain untouched. That's how I got all my good shit at least.
Way too late, but if anyone feels generous...what was that max defense/evasion build on Olberic? Particularly asking about equipment, but it looks like he's a dancer.
I be doing the same thing they say in these videos and can NEVER get to 70,000 plus damage per hit 🤦🏽♂️ that’s insane. I have an olberic build with almost 900 elemental damage, the most powerful weapons, have rotated all these buffs like surpassing power, elemental aid, edge and fortitude and he STILL will not hit past more than 15,000 per hit!! What am I doing wrong?!!
I use Sorcerer Cyrus Runelord Therion(yes tressa is better but I like therion more) Starseer Ophilia Warmaster Haan'it Only around 70 but no where close to those damage outputs
Alfyn is alright, I just got my grinding out in No Materia FF7 where I got 99 X Potions, 99 Phoenix Downs, and a few Elixers and 6 Megalixers (No W-Item Glitch) So No I'm NOT grinding for the Alfyn Shit
Honestly, I don't get why anyone would bother w Nightmare Chimera, unless maybe it helps do more damage during speedruns where a characters is ultra low statted & leveled or something? The damage isn't any better than min maxing w other moves that don't break ur stuff from what I can tell.
It's kind of crazy how good of a Dancer Therion is! I mean you need Support characters, so why not have one that can do pretty much everything from buffiing to debuffing? @ the same time you probably want 1 character who will buff and another who will debuff, so ya I dunno... But still, Dancer also increases Speed a lot, meaning he will easily be able to do crazy damage w his Divine Skill, and also easily divvy out the Dancer Divine Skill. I kind of hate to make him a Sorcerer when there are so many other good Sorcerer options as well, and he really is a fantastic debuffer so I kind of like keeping him in that role if possible. It would be kind of crazy to give your debuffer such an essential job as Sorcerer so he has to waste turns debuffing before he can deal damage.... Am honestly having a hard time figuring out what to do w his 2nd job in the late game!
Can someone help. I have all my main characters over level 80 but im struggling to find weapons for them. It just seems like getting the items is such a grind and that the developers make it so time consuming to collect materials to unlock weapons from vendors. What am i missing?
Man. I just started this game for the first time today. Are there any strats for getting leveled up fast early on? I started with primrose. And have alf and tressa so far.
@@Drayleb therion and cyrus are good early for chests and exposing weaknesses. i made therion a scholar and cyrus a hunter for aoe break and double magic which has made farming xp and jp easy for me
How did you possibly do 99,999 damage?! I have characters in the low 90s level wise with all the best gear and I’m doing hefty damage but now where near that. Why didn’t you explain how you managed this output ?!
How come no Surpassing Power on Ophilia? Is her damage potentially really that bad? Surely she could be doing significantly more than 10k per hit there I'd think!
They really screwed up with the colors, aka not giving some sort of different color to weakness hits and Crits, so you can tell when a crit hits when the enemy is broken. That or broken hits shouldn't be the same red color as the rest of the stuff. Kinda makes no sense to do that. Hope the 2nd game fixed that.
If you liked Octopath Traveler then may I suggest a similar looking game? In case you haven't heard already, the original creator of Genso Suikoden has launched a new project called Eiyuden Chronicle, a true spiritual successor to the series. The Kickstarter campaign is in its final week and it really needs a strong push for it to reach its stretch goals. So far they have been very transparent with the funders by doing AMA sessions and weekly updates. In addition, Gematsu has some impressive footage on their YT channel and this project has been endorsed by big names like Warren Spector(Deus Ex series) and Obsidian Entertainment (Pillars of Eternity and Outer Worlds). Please tweet out the Kickstarter page if you like what you see and hear about it. Thanks!
For Ophilia I would have put Warrior insteed of Starseer (starseer is kinda overkill on her) And the same could be said for Cyrus and Sorcerer (it just kinda overkill for him it make his frist classe pointless the best for him would likely be starseer or apo (runelord can work useing his weapons to break and than the magic hit like a truck))
I fail to understand how Ophilia is overpowered. I saw nothing in there that she can do that another Traveler can't do better. Tressa makes sense, NO ONE else can do what she does.
@@Valefolken, um, I'm at the true boss area as we speak. I don't think it counts as a "newb" lol. But the game encouraged to test out many different tactics. I like Ophelia because of her heal, reflect, and divine.
Can anyone judge my subclass picks? I’m not sure if they’re good anymore after this video. Ophelia: Apothecary Cyrus: Dancer Tressa: Thief Olberic: Hunter Primrose: Scholar Alfyn: Merchant Therion: Cleric H’aanit: Warrior I hope it’s decent, but I doubt that. Hope I don’t have to change a lot. Most of them has the subclass divine skill ready to learn.
They're all okay as long as it fits your playstyle. Just started the game days ago and only playing the 4 chapter 4s. My Build Btw: Team A: Ophelia - Scholar Prim - Merchant(Best Support for me) Haanit - Warrior(Thy Wrecker) Therion - Apothecary( Gonna make him a sorcerer) Team B: Tressa - Runelord Olberic - Thief Alfyn - Warrior Cyrus - Cleric
nice vid, but the mic work (bass/treble is extra) and background music need tweaked. Also, the lack of info on why/who is overpowered really makes this video pointless - it's a twitch stream and not information with background.
hello everyone, im fairly news to this game, and i wonder, dont i need surpassing power passive from warrior? to do over 9.999 damage? i see this amazing vid, but i am a little confused now a little help in this would be very much appreciated. thank u in andvance
A year later, but yes, you need the Warrior support skill to go over 9999 damage. You can achieve this by making everyone's subclass a Warrior at some point and unlocking the skill for them so they can benefit from it as they go to any other subclass
I feel like some characters are more useful for their starting Primary jobs and some are more useful for their Path Actions. Therion's path action is great but Primrose's primary job makes her almost necessary in any team composition. I guess his Steal SP skill is decent though. H'aanit is probably one of the best characters in the game with her summons but Olberic's Path Action has no penalties or restrictions. Ophilia has both a decent Primary Job and Path Action. Tressa's path action is something i rarely ever use but she has some nice skills and abilities for late game.(also free money) Cyrus is just all around good damage with a decent path action and Alfyn out of all the characters feels like a leftover for me..
I have a question, if I want to use a rune on my caster, and it has an elemental boosting weapon, do I need that weapon for the attack to get the elemental bonus? Or can I use my strongest elemental atk weapon and still get the bonus?
