I agree, however if you think about what this really is "an epitaph for the news that is current at the end of each week. It's just a wrap up for each week's important news event; and even some weeks there isn't enough time, like when Bill has to FLY many miles to a live show, in Vegas, or even back east or northern California. Yeah I wish OT was longer but more than that I wish I could get a couple of questions to ask the guests.
@@pakpala1 I am not sure why you say this and since I don't know why, I have to say I totally disagree with your comment. Maybe if you were to elaborate on your point-of-view here I quite possibly would come up to your mindset , challenge, challenge, challenge!!!!!
I kinda see your point but I can't see how making it, say, a guaranteed 15 minutes (which would allow discussions a little more breathing room, especially where there are five other people to involve, like this one) would really eat into Bill being able to catch a flight, since the questions are audience generated and they're all responding off the cuff (i.e. no script writing etc). Sometimes Overtime has been about 4 minutes long - they might as well not bother. I think if it were at least a 10 minute minimum, we wouldn't feel quite so short-changed all the time. It's always interesting to hear (generally) intelligent and/or funny people discuss the news and politics.
Schiff raves about a Russian election interference they can't find all while Donna Brazille admitted to election meddling in the DNC to help Clinton beat Bernie? This show is comedy gold. Clueless...
@@albatros12 so 13 empty chairs of Russians were indicted which made the whole Mueller investigatuion look even dumber than it already is between Fusion GPS, FBI brass putting their thumb on an election, and a fake dossier. McCaskill would still be a Senator if she had run a populist campaign instead of a centrist campaign. We ran a centrist against Trump in 2016 and she lost.

@@jonm7888 Bernie is too old. Also the Dems fucked him over already. He would have beat Trump, but the corporate Democrats felt like they owed Clinton. Goes to show that neither party is for the people. They both care only about protecting their own little corrupt circles.

Claire McCaskill is the one who is still trying to decide between pancakes and Waffles, Democrats need to stand strong and not worry if the Republican Base LIKES them, just do the right thing.
Where do you live, Gm Dave? Unless you live in a predominately red state, you really don't know of what you speak. We have to listen to everyone. She knows what we are up against in the midwest, as do I, and ignoring them, will NOT help us to win.

Thanks for cheering me up Bill Maher you've got the best show going right now. Your wit and humor surpasses all the others. I'm not really a fan of people but you must be a fun guy to smoke a couple joints with. Keep up the great work. Let me know when you're hiring grips LOL
kickenerbutt exactly when I hear so called moderates say come together, I feel like it’s come together so we can continue to get rich by the wealthy donors.
@monokhem Oh, I'm sorry.. .I didn't realize that having a "For-Profit Private Health Insurance" system was "in the middle" When literally every other industrialized nation doesn't have one... Forgive me for my belief that America is better than having a system that is proven both ineffectual and expensive. :|
@monokhem what's stupid is trying to listen to: the person who gave questions predebate to Hillary (who lost to Trump) a deadbeat do nothing (unless you like corporate deregulation and other republican shit) ex senator who lost their race and Adam Schiff who's job is to undermine the will of the people in order to further the agenda of the Dems donors. Call me stupid all you want but I'm not the one trying to get four more years.
Lol it is funny. And the reason is even funnier! The name "Putin" would be pronounced like "putain" in French, which means "whore/bitch/slut". So to avoid calling him President Whore, the French purposely mispronounce his name as "poutine".
Great show BUT Bill needs to slow his roll. He kept cutting Bernard off while he was in the middle of explaining interesting points. BM didn’t do this with the others. Wanted to hear Bernard’s response about the 5 kings. 😼
Why oh why does a national embarrassment like BHL, that everybody knows not to take seriously, is still invited to great shows like this one ? He is a good talker, he says a few interesting things, like that weird friend of the family you sometimes see after he went back from a trip abroad... but no professor of philosophy or history or economy in high school or university has ever recommended BHL to his or her students! And I am French, I usually love to see a pompous fellow French anywhere...

Nope. The corporate masters at HBO would never allow that. No different than Tucker Carlson: A millionaire funded by billionaires. That’s how this corporate con works. Fox News blames all the problems on immigrants and minorities in general. Then the Bill Maher and MSNBC crowd blames Russia and Trump. Then the two sides go back and forth: “It’s immigration that causes all our problems” “Immigrants are great. It’s Russia that’s the problem” “Russia? Did Russia collect all the welfare?” “Maybe people wouldn’t be on welfare if Trump!” The goal of the mainstream media sources is not to discuss the problems; but to frame the conversation that is allowed to be had on the problems. They don’t want people to understand the solutions; because first they would understand that people like Bill Maher and his elite class of wealth are the problem.
If someone from another country, comes to your country and knowingly breaks your law - do you send them back, or expect them to face to face criminal proceeding, and take whatever the relevant sentencing, is?
Looks like Russia and/or gop are now sending their trolls to patrol RU-vid comments. To everyone else, recognize anyone posing as a progressive or Bernie supporter that tries driving wedges between the broad coalition of people that make up the "left" is probably not who they say they are.
moongoddess256 yes how dare someone critique your precious corporate, establishment democrats! God forbid someone calls them out for their failed politics. All they do is try and reach a cross the isle AND EVERY TIME Republicans say fuck you, they get nothing done and then voters get fed up and vote em out. Ban corporate PAC money, have uncorrupted, strong, true progressives that actually fight for real change.

I'm not French, but Lévy is a regular target of notorious pie thrower Noël Godin (who's also thrown pies at people like Bill Gates). He's been "pied" at least 7 times by Godin, and also by Serbian leftist activists.
This segment needs to be longer. Maher needs to broaden his thought process because he is what everyone calls "establishment" and he needs to be more progressive for this show to remain relevant and interesting. It's been the edginess of the show that keeps people coming back and that edge is getting dull. Like Adam Schiff was alluding to...just because an idea seems impossible doesn't mean nothing should be done. Maher is one to say "that's a stretch too far" or "that's never going to happen" and no one is interested in that limited way of thinking. Look at Medicare for all. When Sanders first started talking about it people acted like he was going to destroy the world. Now, it's become a conversation with some real potential.
Yes by all means stay stuck in the same place for decades and then wonder why everyone has moved on without out. I would say fuck you but that wouldn't be kind so I wont say it. @monokhem
@justmemadison You sound like a facile progressive--where does Maher say nothing should be done? He has been advocating for the environment when most new progressives were getting baths from mommy in the sink. Progressive ideas must be rooted in reality--you present big ideas understanding they are starting points and you have to work to make them a reality--to do that you work with those who are involved in the sausage-making of the political system. What do you think Sanders has been doing in the Senate? You think he is a lone wolf? He's made plenty of compromises. Maher calls bullshit on people who have blinders on and just want to wish things into existence. Maher was talking about universal health care years ago. Maybe you missed that.

Is not only Bill. Why all these shows keep inviting McCaskill to ask her for tips of how to win in red states? The woman is litterally a loser! She is a loser that lost her election by a wide margin because she posed as a republican light against a real republican. Why vote for the phony when you can get the real item? At this point you would be well advised of looking at McCaskill and doing the opposite. I suppose that in the end being connected in the Washington bubble pays.

It's called loyalty. Bernie created, and proved, what the majority of Americans wanted back in 2016, but the DNC wouldn't allow it. Now, it's 2019, and those people are still there, but more of them now than ever. Trump doesn't stand a chance. Revolution baby, revolution. FEEL THE BERN YET?
