The only way forward is to keep religion away from education and out of politics. All big religions are patriarchal and struggle with the fact that modernity (contraceptives) freed women. They want to undo emancipation and equality of the sexes. Therefore, there has to be a battle (protests, people leaving their churches etc.) till religions reform, give up their "male supremacy". E.g. the Catholic Church has to be forced to allow contraceptives and legal abortions. This fight has to unite all good people, atheists and secular religious people alike.

I agree that it would be productive for votes to be founded on policy and ideological preferences, but the amalgam of preferences that go into each individual citizen's vote is the citizen's own. Some vote for a proxy parent, some for a proxy spouse, some for a functionary, some for an exemplar, some for a party, some just for spite.

My stance would be getting rid of all religion and big business from influencing our meritocracy, I would then get rid of all guns, create a universal minimum wage and only reward states with federal funds that meet certain requirements such as supporting federal healthcare for all and minimum wages that not allow for survival but give everyone the ability to not become a burden on society in the future which in turn feeds a modern form of capitalism. Women/LGBTQ rights would be ingrained in the Constitution and no laws influencing governing anyone's body would be added to the Constitution as well. I would cut the military down to it's effective size which is somewhere between 15-20% of its current size and modernize our transportation system by going 100% into Electrical vehicles and Hydrogen. I would modernize our power grid by leveraging every household in the US to be a solar farm and subsidize the industry. All businesses must adhere to a 5 year policy to switch to carbon zero and energy surplus. All of this can be done with a large initial budget that would curve debt within 10 years and have a upwards curve towards a sustainable debt free country in 20 years. At this point we can start talking about other countries because until you have your own house in order you should not even think of telling other people what to do. I could write all this policy in few months, why can't any of the candidates?

The primaries are so convoluted because of the electoral college, which complicates the selection process for a candidate that must win States and not the largest number of human voters. Secondly, the states have ridiculously archaic systems for selecting the winners: Washington State holds a caucus and then a primary, Nevada has voters select delegates, who then have to show up (many don't) for a secondary vote to select a candidate can cut down the margins or even flip the state.
