In a significant move highlighting international cooperation and support for Ukraine’s defense capabilities, Sweden has confirmed the transfer of 239 Pansarbandvagn 302 (Pbv 302) armored vehicles to Ukraine as part of its 16th defense aid package. Developed by Hägglund & Söner in the 1960s, the Pbv 302 has long been a cornerstone of Sweden’s armored fleet, serving dutifully until its retirement from active service in 2014.

Ukraine needs anything they can get their hands on, when NAFO is sending trucks cause Ukrainian units ask for them, then APC not IFV is more then welcome. Especially the 20mm Cannon, they are using M113 for some recovery and assault roles. enough TDF forces don't even have APC/Trucks. so anything that works and is free they are grateful for in year 3 of the war. cause they still need to equip NEW brigades with the new mobilisation. So ignore those Trolls who says they are not needed, the time of short war is over, this is a long war.. till Putler is gone.

Myślisz dlaczego dużo krajów rozwija wreszcie produkcję broni?. Stworzenie linii produkcyjnej trochę trwa. Od prawie trzech do czterech lat. . Linia montażowa to finalny cel. Trzeba współproducentów,dostawców podzespołów, wyszkolenie pracowników.itd.

They better use it as a battle taxi up to the front line and NOT beyond. It isn’t well armoured.

They will. Come on, they have been fighting this war for 3 years. If you pay attention you could have seen multiple drone movies of them doing just that with the ypr and m113.

Either that or maybe a scout vehicle. Potentially they could also be used in their former roles as mortar carriages and light AA units with RBS 70. But yeah, there's a reason Sweden developed the CV90 instead of just making some cheap and cheerful upgrade of these.

@@dennistofvesson6351 Yeah we hit the tree on the left side, our gunner got a real funny double blackeye outlined by the periscope sight, the machine gunner was thrown forward with the other machine gunner and medic hitting him. He hurt his back pretty bad and the driver hit his head on something. Me, group cmmander and the other Carl gustaf gunner together with the wagon commander (right side) was perfectly fine. I was pretty torn between helping the wounded or get out and stop the next 302 trailong us but I took a split decision and ran straight out stopping the other 302 I knew was not far behind us making him slow down to avoid a collision. Felt so bad jogging down the road when my comrades were hurt behind me but turned out to be right decision since I prevented it getting far worse. But I felt so bad leaving them right then. But everyone were glad I did it afterwards and supported my decision.

Classic political talk and marketing, it's still a 60 year old vehicle, its armor isn't even as good as the M113 they're getting. The main weapon has no stabilization. Swimming can be useful, but so can the BMP-1. It has slightly better conditions for soldiers because it is higher, but that's about it. Sweden brags about how determined it is to help, how it pushes the boundaries of aid, but it sent old scrap from the warehouse. If they really wanted to help they would send a CV90, even the oldest model CV90 is many times better than this vehicle. It was good for low-intensity conflicts and peacekeeping missions such as Kosovo and Yugoslavia, but for high-intensity operations in Ukraine, it is suitable only for the rear, not for combat.

It is still an armored personell carrier, armed with a 20 mm autocannon, that can make sure rear positions are able to uphold protected transportation, potential fire support and hit against break throughs. Also, the government doesn't send anything Ukraine didn't ask for - if the Pbv 302 is handed over, Ukraine wanted it.

It is very clear that you actually do not understand military vehicles at all, or what kind of aid that has been sent to Ukraine so far. 1. Sweden actually thought about the M113, but decided to go another way instead. Any source you check (which have a comparison) states that the PBV 302 has a better armour than the M113. Sweden deemed the capacity as "acceptable against 84 mm HEAT" (which means that most same cold war era russian IFV/MBT/RPG would penetrate the armour) 2. It is an APC, not an IFV. It is not meant for fighting, it is for safe troop transportation. It would clearly not fare well against any modern AT weapon or IFV, MBT. Not all vehicles have a frontline fighting purpose.If you have to make a comparison, use the Russian BTR-60 instead. 3. You clearly missed out on that Sweden sent 51 CV90 (the best 40mm version, with various upgrades and additional armour) to Ukraine in 2023. Sweden and Denmark made a joint decision to send additionally 35 more CV90-35 (35mm Bushmaster), date of delivery have not been disclosed. So that means a total of 86 CV90. Sweden sent about 10% of their total storage of CV90! Sweden also sent 10 Stridsvagn 122 (Leopard 2 A5 with Swedish additions, extra armour etc.). 4. I am absolutely confident about that Ukraine by all means tells their allies what kind of things they need. It's not like Sweden "dumps" old crap to Ukraine. You are delusional if you do not understand that war is a very complex machinery. Therefore you need e.g. APCs, terrained vehicles etc. just as well as everyone can't be infantry either. So therefore you have everything from cooks, mechanics to medics. If you do not have a proper supply chain it is game over.
@KorbenDalasCZ
@KorbenDalasCZ Месяц назад
@@74Darkman you don't have to teach me about military equipment, I graduated from a military school and served in the army until recently. I know both Russian and Western techniques. I see what is happening in Ukraine and the fact that mechanized brigades do not have IFVs, they do not need APCs, but IFVs, and this vehicle is unsuitable for any deployment in Ukraine, even as an APC. its protection against artillery shrapnel, against drones against anything is crap these days. Yes, I know they sent CV90 but there are few of them. Look at the mechanized brigades of the UA army, they are basically infantry brigades, they do not have IFVs, only the only fully mechanized brigade is the 47th mechanized brigade, which has M2A2. the worst thing is that the command of the UA army approaches the mechanized brigades as if they were really mechanized, assigns them tasks accordingly and plans combat deployment, but those guys are just infantry, they don't have armored vehicles, then it turns out very badly. On the newly opened northern front, they complain that they do not have equipment, there is no defense and they have high losses that no one replenishes, and that the Russian army is very well prepared, equipped and professional. this is how the Ukrainian soldiers end up, because they do not receive enough equipment and the necessary IFVs. :-(( (adjust the spaces in the link, YT deletes the links so I had to change it) http s: // southfront.press/in-video-18-destroyed-ukrainian-position-on-zaporozhye-front/
