This is a short history of the weapon and its use in both world wars. The German 353 Infantrie Division was issued large numbers of Madsens as a primary infantry squad weapon when it was last refitted in the Spring of 1945. The Madsens were captured from Denmark after the 1940 invasion and keep in reserve. In the closing months of WWII, these weapons were issued due to the shortage of German-made weapons.
