Moira's VA is literally doing the best job out there, she doesn't have to pretend anything because they picked her so perfectly. She was even born in the same country and city that Moira was! Perfection.
I mean that first part is true. But plenty of the VAs of these characters were born in the country they’re from, and I’m willing to bet they just changed Moira’s city of birth to be whatever the VAs city of birth was.
The same situation with Zarya. She's voiced by a Bulgarian. That's why she sounds so strange in the original - in English, she speaks with a Russian accent, and in Russian, she speaks with an English one.
reins "immer feste druff" actually translates to "always solid on it" (the druff being drauf) meaning sonething along the lines "Let him have it!", "Get stuck in there!"
depending on the charcter and nation, the supposed accent would be strange enough to do,(im brazilian). so while I understand BR venture having some good lines with a mexican vibe, someone like sojourn or cassidy wouldnt really be good specially because were talking about bringing north american accent to the table, while spanish's venture and sombra is closer to our language
@@twozflil cass has a pretty strong southern accent, hillbilly is an entirely different archetype of southern so that'd be really out of place/character and go against the archetype he's based on
Like a Russian, I will say that the Zarya's accent is not Russian at all. it's too much tied to the stereotype of bad Russians, so I don't play in English. Just listening Zarya in russian language, It feels like she's strong, but kind.
Fun fact I believe it's true, take my words with a grain of salt: Pharah and Torbjorn are the only ones that don't have voicelines in their native language. Or at least I think so. I haven't heard anything from them
Pharah is half Canadian so it is possible that she doesn’t know her mother’s tongue. Same applies with reaper he’s Mexican/American but doesn’t speak Spanish
Ana has a different enemy ult line for female and male heroes (“your” is gendered). if she says. “Warihum owitak”, it’s a male character. if she says “Warihum owitik”(the one used in this video), it’s a female character. could be useful to know, like if the only female character(besides Ana obviously) on the enemy is Junker queen and therefore you know how to counter her ult early without having to hear her nano boosted voiceline.
mauga's should only be one word at the end, "koekiki." i don't know why it's often put as "koe ikiiki" but that's not how it's spelled in samoan. mauga's translation is basically just "stay a little while / stay a little longer." # 685 to the world 🇼🇸
Same for Baptiste, Even thought Haiti is a French-speaking Country, he also speaks Haitian Creole and you can hear him speak it in some voicelines as well as his ultimate if he is in the opposing team.
Whats funny is Chloé Hollings actually voices the French dub of OW as well as the English. From the sound of it, Illaris voice actor does double duty too.
Yes she did! Actually, Andre Cisneros is the only person that repeats her role in both the Latin American Spanish version and the original English version
Ashe has a very clear southwestern American accent which while not quite another language has quite a bit of differences in vocabulary and pronunciation then say British English
Would've been nice if english speaking characters had english voicelines in other versions of the game. I play in French and we never ever hear any english speaking characters in english... I just think it's a missed opportunity there tbh
"enfrenten el amanecer" is actually "face the sunrise". "down" would be something like bajo, abajo, etc. you can look at the subtitles in overwatch to see what the hero is actually saying. (for example, in the english version, illari says "inti lluqsimun!" which means the same thing
But that's only heard when she is an enemy illari. But yeah, you're totally right. Coolest thing is that the voice actress did the job for both versions
Zarya`s line is wrong. "Огонь по готовности" means "Fire at will", not "Fire software ready". Your translator assumed for some reason that "по" is an abbreviation for "Программное Обеспечение" (Software), but in reality it is a particle that means "at", "on" or "over" depending on context
By the way, Orisa’s I believe is wrong. It’s really difficult because Cherrelle doesn’t speak Yoruba and there’s a filter over the voice, but I believe that what she’s actually saying is “Bayanmọ rẹ o!” I’m not sure about the o at the end, but there’s an additional unnecessary syllable there and to me it only makes sense that it would be smth like that. Pade does mean “meet,” however, Ba can also mean “meet” depending on the context, and to me, it sounds like she’s making a “B” sound and I don’t hear the “D” at the end. Yoruba is funny because you can merge certain words together if the first word ends in a vowel and the second word begins with a vowel, which I believe is what she’s doing with “Ba” (meet) and “Ayanmọ” (fate). Although it usually wouldn’t be written this way, “B’ayanmọ rẹ o!” is a good way to write it to indcate the merge. Also “o” at the end is just adding emphasis to the phrase. It sounds like she’s adding another “e” or “ẹ” sound, but that’s isn’t an emphasizer in Yoruba to my knowledge. Also Yoruba’s tonal, so there should be tone marks, but unfortunately I don’t have the tones for “ayanmọ” memorized, although I believe “rẹ” is just a “re” tone which has no accent mark, so it should be correct. Edit: meant to say that the second condition for word merging is that the second word has to *begin* with a vowel, not end.
ah yes, les langues Canadian Samoan venture edit: i JUST saw that Venture was covering up the majority of their flag on first glance i thought it was funny that the other 2 in the thumbnail had icons and then venture was there just standing on a blank canvas
Actually, Haitian Creole is very different from French, now. A language all it's own. So the original dub Creole dub would have worked fine for Baptiste. Aside from a few other translation errors, this is still a pretty cool video. Thanks for sharing. Edit: I also wanted to mention that I wish Doomfist's ultimate voice line was also Yoruba. Would be cool to shed light on lesser known languages in the West. It's why I keep out hope for an Amharic speaking Ethiopian hero. :,) Edit 2: I also think it's pretty lightly implied that Ramattra was built in Egypt, and probably deployed there if so. Maybe giving him Arabic/Coptic voicelines would also be pretty cool. :)

Honestly it's really cool that there are so many characters of so many different cultures and it's cool that they actually speak their native language too!
Reaper is a funny situation, everything about him indicates that he is American, the name (which is actually my name in real life) refers to something Latin from the south of the USA. But on the website it says he is Italian
to get the pronunciation correct, for example Lucio, he speaks Portuguese in the original version but his pronunciation is bad (I have a place to speak since I speak Portuguese)
What does native French mean? People who are native (whatever country) what on earth does that mean? For example "native indians/amercians" in like cowboy movies.. what the heck does native mean?

One of the main languages in Nigeria is English, making it very possible it is actually his native tongue, but I don't doubt he natively speaks Yoruba like Orisa does

Isn't illari trilingual? Seems strange to only pick one of her two native languages as the correct one, in the English va it's her other native language that is used.
One of their parents is Mexican. Even on the Dorado map, which is supposed to be a town in Mexico, they says that they is going to visit their "abuelita" which means grandma
