I really wish Lifeweaver's controls were similar to Kiriko's where healing and damage were bound to left and right click simultaneously rather than switching weapons like torbjorn

I really wish his flower platform would descend when a person gets off it, the way it works now just makes it seem like a personal one time use

Pro tip, make sure to teleport your tank behind your team during a fight, this will help your tank escape easily, also make sure to teleport your Widow into the open so they can hit more shots easily

Lifeweaver is what early OW1 Symmetra should have been.

I’m not the best when it comes to game sense, but I feel like this hero really does incentivizes you to think outside the box and think of what your enemy and team does, which then carry’s over to other heroes for better game sense overall.

Playing Lifeweaver during training, I managed to find the best mouse settings. I swapped right click to switch weapons because I sometimes panic and hit right click to shoot as if I was Kiriko. Life Grip is swapped to scroll down and it feels better since it's like you're actually trying to pull your teammate to you. With mouse with extra buttons, I put petal platform on one of the extra buttons. This works for me, but I'm not sure if it works for everyone.

Although lifeweaver’s petal blocks Ramatra’s ult his punching attack will still go through the petal and can damage you so don’t just use it in the middle of his ult and stand on the petal thinking that he can’t damage you.

That last bit at the end, for an advanced guide, it would be great if you could give an example of good vs bad comps to utilize them in.

Ball seems like a nice life grip target because u can save him quicker than he can save himself but he can also get back in the fight quickly as well and won’t be too perturbed if he’s not where he wants to be

his damage is not only too low, but swapping between healing and damage slows down his potential quite a bit

Really one of the best new characters that the dev team has introduced, the repositioning capabilities are exactly what was needed to distinguish this support from the others.

I know it's an old video, but it's been the most helpful so far. Surprisingly rarely guides provide a detailed mentality of the good [guide subject] player. Not just "Do this and do that", but rather "This is __why__ I'm doing this, and this is __why__ I'm not doing another thing." Despite many changes to LW, not to mention the entirety of Season 9, this video's been a blessing. Thank you for the insightful guide!

After some playing of Lifeweaver I find him very fun but don't really strongly like his primaries yet. Think they are more on the weak side (still very fun just not as fun most other hero's primaries to me) Especially compared to someone like Kiriko Zen or Lucio, even Moira. But this is only my initial impression I am sure I will get more used to it over time

This character seems so awesome to me. Mei's wall was amazing because of its mobility options and vast creative utility and I feel like Lifeweaver is like the support version of that. Amplifying the mobility and life-saving aspect at the cost of fewer attack and enemy manipulation tactics.

I've been using his Thorn Volley as a sort of suppression tool on enemies hiding behind cover.

Low healing numbers on any support piss me off.

A keybinding that I encourage people try out is to change your right click to "next weapon" and have your petal platform on some other key, I have mine on "C". The advantages of using this setup makes the primary fire a lot less clunky. Unless you're a weirdo who plays with your index on left click, middle finger on mouse wheel, and ring finger on right click you'll have to lift one of your fingers and move it to the scroll wheel just to change weapons. This keybind changes that, being able to switch weapons on the fly with one mouse click. The alternative would be to not use scroll wheel but 1 and 2 to switch, but I personally find it more intuitive to have everything "aim related" on one hand instead of juggling and coordinating with both hands, this also helps relieve your left hand from having to do movement, ability casting, and weapon swapping. Keeping it strictly movement and abilities. A neat side effect for this keybind is that you can hold down primary fire "left click" and use "right click" to swap and the weapon instantly shoots (or charges when healing) when swapped. Making it feel pretty seamless. It'll take a couple games to have this muscle memory down and just having an unconscious awareness of which weapon you're holding. But I'm a couple hours into it and already getting pretty nice frictionless swapping.

I love him, it’s a bit funky to get his kit comfy but after a few games and maybe a couple remacros I enjoy him

You can also use the pull to bring respawning allies back to the front lines faster!

Loving this hero so far. So much more fun than kiriko in my opinion. At first I was like ‘oh no, a magic, flower man, pretty boy’, but after watching his origin story, I’m digging his aesthetic, and character design and the style of his abilities. Loving that he’s a big-brained hero so far as well, in terms of playing him.

On console, change previous weapon to L3, and interact button to anything on your d-pad, it will make switching weapons much easier

We tested in firing range it doesn't let you drag your tm8s over edges, so don't worry about the well

Nobody talks about Overwatch the way you do. I’m always learning something new.

Something I found helpful if you are on controller I binded my weapon swap to the Y button and I made the ultimate right on the dpad. Since it’s an ultimate that makes you also hit right trigger to build the tree, it’s pretty easy to get used to. Especially if you play shooting games where Y is weapon swap.

I’m confused as to why his dash mechanic isn’t like hanzos so you could have an alternate fire instead of swapping weapons

Highest skill ceiling in the support role to date. The playmaking ability is top tier clutch.

After some calculations in a 60-second period, releasing the heal at 0.5 seconds (37.5 HP) provides 3600 HP of total healing, while waiting for the maximum charge of 1 second (65 HP) results in 3120 HP of total healing. Releasing the heal earlier at 0.5 seconds yields a higher healing output over a minute.This is including the time it takes to deplete his ammo and reload.

I actually found him really fluid, but I also play Val and switch my weapons with scrolling all the time, I think the biggest issue with them maybe making his healing and thorns primary and secondary is his weapons auto reload when you swap off, it would mess up that rhythm

Lifeweaver is soooo hard hero to play properly. Gotta stick to my brig and zen on comp for the next month before I even think about trying him there.

The first thing he needs fixed though is dropping the healing flower on death. Supports have enough of a target on their backs.

He still feels very clunky to me, but this video helps a lot. Another issue I have is I wish his flower platform was positionable like his ult or torbs turret. The charge to heal thing is weird, but maybe having more than a 65 output would be nice.

Who do you think is the best support partner for him? Ana for healing plus repositioning? Or Baptiste for pulling into immortality fields and high ground lanps? I feel Zen and a Lucio would be too slow for heals. Brig protecting him with her buffs? Or Just do Mercy or Moira to make up for his low healing?

So far my take is that you can absolutely tell if the person trying out Lifeweaver is a healer main or not.

I’ve had lifeweaver save me so many times when I’m in a team fight and suddenly everyone else is dead and it’s just me and lifeweaver is able to pull me away so I don’t instantly die as a result, it’s great!

Some tips on tuning the controls would be nice. Found defaults a bit clunky.

people are going to troll with life grip just like mei's wall... sure there will be times where they will make things worse... but when they save you... it feels so good

If you do bursts of 40 health you can do more imo instead of a full charge

His heals feels really low and on top of toggling between heals and dmg it feels even worse. Pull and lift are awesome tho! I had to change heals and dmg to right click and the lift is on mb4 now

I think life grip would be less trolly if it was a channeled ability with like .5-1 second channel (but with a lower CD to compensate) so they know that they are getting pulled soon

I'm finding hes good at healing in dive comps as long as you can prioritize your own safety, because his auto aim heals are amazing at keeping, echos, tracers and genjis up, and junkrat is always a pain In the ass to heal because of how erratically he moves while fighting but with life weaver I can easily heal him even as hes flying upwards off his concussion mine lol

I don’t understand why the dash isn’t a double jump. That would free up a button/key so the needler could actually be a secondary fire.

I personally enjoy ulting and then switching to full dps unless emergency heals are needed

This character is the "just make sym a support already!" character.

The controls with the weapon swapping feels off, not smooth at all. Breaking the lift with a different buttton is also a bit weird. I think it would be a lot smoother to have the dodge like hanzo, healing and damage like most other healers, left and right buttons and the lift break on the same button, like sigma.

After playing a few matches with him I found that lifeweaver is a very team focused hero. He doesn't have alot of damage output or healing but his main strength is his utility which helps him enable his teammates to make plays while keeping them alive. He's going to be really good in teams that communicate with each other and almost useless to players who play solo

i love the character cause he is my play style all the way. my friends all said it when they saw him. Yup we know who you maining lol. the buffs make him alot better i dont know if he needs a heal buff. if so maybe a 10-15% increase the most.

I'm sorry but I can't see LF as a main heal in my game with a lucio zen or brig with him... Idk, feels low heal no?

Already getting trolled in some ways by a Lifeweaver (or unintentional, I dunno). Was gonna charge a hog off the map and he pulls me away before I fling hog off the edge

I can understand people worried about LW and his griefing potential with his grip. I had wondered how it would be, and literally in my very first game with one today, they yanked me off my high ground perch as Cass on numbani defense. There was no reason for it. Round was just under 10 sec from starting and we were all set up and ready. He just decided at that moment to pull me down, then use his lift to get himself up there.

Why do i love playing lifeweaver? 😂 I have 10 hours on him now and im starting to understand how to utilise all of his abilities

Everybody says “I’m a support not a healer” and I think that saying should shape the way future supports are made. We have tons of high healing supports, I think we should have more supports that do very little healing but have tons of utility. Hell if given the right abilities I think it could be possible to have a support with such good utility that he doesn’t need healing. Idk just a thought.

I pulled a Soldier to high ground, he looked at me, and then Leeeeeeroy’d right down into 3 people 😂

Can you generate ult charge while tree is up?

Life weaver is so busted against Zarya. Petal platform completely negates graviton surge. And if you don’t have your platform, you could always pull out a teammate with life grip

I'll preface by saying that I am excited for Lifeweaver and I don't think he'll break the game, but... I think a lot of content creators are missing that the "trolling" aspect of Lifeweaver isn't going to come from people making genuine mistakes or misplays while otherwise trying to play him well. What most people are afraid of is intentional throwing and trolling. If you happen to piss off your Lifeweaver, he can most certainly re-create the example given in this video with Aspen. There's nothing stopping a LW troll from intentionally pulling you into danger, off a ledge, or away from a good spot mid-ult. And on certain maps like Midtown first attack, you can quick-swap heroes to reset the cooldown on Life Grip and repeatedly keep you in spawn. Again, I don't think it's going to kill the game, and ultimately I think Lifeweaver is a good addition to the game, but a lot of takes I see seem to have the assumption that your Lifeweaver is always acting in good faith.

To me, the best thing to do is to change the keybinds immediately. holy moly the default binds are so clunky
