@@S0LIDSNEK ehhh, sort of. LW's biggest thing is game sense, which is something that every role in OW needs. Sure, ML7 would probably be better than the others, but I wouldn't think by a huge margin.

I had that too with Brig in earlier seasons. Worst part is that I think her ult and kit was actually stronger back in S3 than it is now...the instant 100 armor and 750hp shield recharge is nice, but honestly it's hard to think of a situation where I'm being pressured so hard that I'll be saved by those things. Having that old 30hp/sec overhealth and higher movement speed was really huge for making plays on Brig. But the stun on shield bash during ult is a nice thing to have, and it really rewards gamesense. You need to rally around 0.5+ seconds before something important happens that you need to stun, which I think is pretty cool. I just wish the radius of Rally was increased because 8.5 meters is crazy small. Especially on a lot of the huge OW2 maps.

@@kweechy i also find the double hp regen to be so much more useful. But now I save my rally to counter mainly. Even if genji nano blades now he can’t dash n slash one hit combo you anymore so if he does dive you he’s gonna get stunned and if ur team can focus he’s an easy kill. Even if you just stun and then ur Ana sleeps the immobile genji u just traded 1 ult on ur team for two on theirs. It has its pros and cons but I do prefer old rally for sure. Thing is they probably spent some time designing the big shield and everything so it’s probably never going to be reverted. Just gonna have to live with it

Doesn't count how? If LW was weak then he would drop out of GM. That's how ranked works. You're the only constant. Everything else changes. Therefore, if you win more games than you lose, then on average, you playing better than the opponents. It's not possible to be carried indefinitely by random team mates (if that were true, the entire playerbase would infinitely rank up).

Which wouldnt be possible if the hero didnt have that capability.

I agree a lot with that take. Heroes like Ram, JQ, Zarya, Rein are built around burning cooldowns/resources to push, but also retreating again before they have no resources so they don't die instantly. That's why things like Nano are so powerful...you can instantly give them a huge boost once they are pushed super far in. It's also why Primal and Meteor Strike work well for Winston and Doomfist...when you have them, you can truly go all in for a play knowing that you can save yourself and help close it out. So yeah with Ram, JQ, Zarya, Rein, a Lifeweaver could have huge potential to let them go absolutely all out on a push with zero plan for how to escape safely.

@@kweechy Problem is... Why not just pick something else? With a hybrid style composition like that, all you're really doing is splitting your resources and blunting your own win condition. Let's say you have a Ram alongside a more typical poke comp, with a Lifeweaver and Ana/Zen. What value is Ram actually going to get? Sure, he could int into the enemy team, but how much time would he actually buy? Plus, once Pull is used, what other value does LW really contribute? Frankly, you'd probably get more value by just committing to a full rush with a Moira Lucio.

@@blazefactor6849 I guess think back to those old OW1 comps of like Ball, Sigma, Tracer, Ashe, Brig, Zen...on paper it's not dive, it's not sniper, it's not rush, it's not poke, it's all pure hybrid but it worked extremely effectively. Now definitely in OW2 with only one tank you can't split the tank role into multiple playstyles (well, not entirely true since several tanks can have hybrid playstyles like Winston) but I think hybrid comps would still do solidly in OW2.

@@kweechy I think you're misunderstanding exactly what that hybrid comp aims to do. The reason why this was effective is because the actual core of the comp is primarily poke, it's not that potent of a dive comp. Their flankers are used more to disrupt the enemy's poke rather than to use the dive as a win condition in itself, or as a way to clean up after the Ashe-Sig-Zen did important damage. However, even if you did try to slow LW into that kind of comp, you'd struggle a lot, because again, LW doesn't really have a win condition to play to. Both Brig and Zen are picked in this composition to reinforce the comp's main win con, being the ranged poke. Zen is a source of poke on his own as well as allowing the dive unit to still function properly without a huge amount of support, and Brig works to stabilize the otherwise squishy backline. In what scenario would LW be able to fit into that kind of setting? He doesn't get any value as a poke support, and basically only exists to save the brawl unit if they get into trouble. As a result, no matter your other selection, one half of the hybrid comp isn't getting the extra help they need. The brawl core needs sustain to function properly, and the poke core needs durability and stability. LW provides neither. He just enables a gimmick. Instead, you'd want to run something like the current OWL standard for Ram Brawl. It uses Hanzo/Ashe/Widow as a standalone poke unit alongside a Brig/Ana for sustain and for explosive cooldowns to break down a durable core if the brawl group (Ram/Mei/Ana) doesn't have enough punch.

@@blazefactor6849 I could maybe see LW similar to Brig though in that lineup potentially. Helps enable the Zen, helps the tank live, keeps DPS alive even if they're playing far and often LoS. But LW is just tuned poorly right now. If his heals per sec or damage output (or many other things) were better than maybe he'd be in business. My main thought for him is just add more downtime between heals, but have each heal give the same amount of health again over 1.5 second. So a full charge heal is 65 up front and 65 over 1.5 sec. That would free him up to focus on movement, peeling, platforms, damage, etc in between heals.

I hate when people use this excuse. I don’t even think I recall a moment when a brand new hero wasn’t atleast one-trickable in competitive. By now the character should already be fitting in comps and adjusting but right now every video is about how to rework him to make him work. 💀

@Fultonian I'm sorry, but LW has nowhere near the same skill cap as old Doomfist. Old Doom had tech, incredibly potent strengths, and most importantly, a really powerful win condition: un-reactable burst kills. What win condition does LW enable? He can't rush like a Moira, he can't poke like a Bap or Zen, he can't farm a strong offensive ult or land team-breaking cooldowns like Ana. At best, he has a single part of what Lucio can enable, a quick retreat, except he can only do it for a single team member. Seriously, what else does he have? His heals are auto-aim and generally mediocre, his weapon is weak and inconsistent, his mobility is poor and his hitbox is massive, his ult is one of the worst in the game, all he has is pull, and while it has a skill cap, it's not somehow larger than old Doom's entire kit.

It's the opposite of what you say.. ignoring that he's duod with a top 500dps as well** , climbing and staying somewhere are 2 entirely different things when it comes to one tricking. Especially in high elo where he is. Going through metal ranks is a miracle for lifeweaver which is why other VERY GOOD top500 players have tried and failed lol. I'm not discrediting ml7 cause he's cracked but let's not be disingenuous here..

@@tugh34 False, mercy provides damage boost which is more utility than lw entire kit lol. It forces your (presumably bad in metal ranks) to win their trades. Which they are GOING to take regardless. Most lw can do is pull someone back and just 'reset' the trade. Her healing also goes through all shields without having to aim around them so out of position teammates can get healed. Even if ally loses trade or gets picked, just rez and make sure they win the next one. Lw has too many thing to consider for a team to play around him, mercy is free value. Obviously it's possible but its nowhere near mercy level of value especially in metal ranks.

100% agree, to climb out of diamond you gotta carry your games which Wifeleaver can’t do bc he does no damage and loses every duel. That’s why even dafran gave up his LW unranked to t500, he can’t carry bc he can’t kill anyone. When he was doing his mercy unranked to t500 he would just valk and kill everyone with the pistol lol, LW doesn’t have anything like that

I mean i was used to it because of the LW and Bob mode and decided to keep it but when i played with LW in a real game i switched to the Left/Right click because its so much easier with that even tho i prefered the weapon swap one I know im not ml7 but he plays with it too so i'd say that he would recommend the Left/Right click controls

The new controls doesn't allow LW to escape Ram's vortex so it effectively hampers your options. Not to mention you also can't gain extra distance with the dash either.

75-80? Holy crap! He already has healing on par with everyone else, his damage is his sole problem (if you get use to charging his heal...it's clunky at first.) There is a reason he has one of the lowest deaths in the game rn, according to the developers. Simply put, other heros have a fight or flight when in a dual or 2v1 they either stand their ground and fight or run...and LW is well equppied to survive. So 9/10 times you escape/survive because what else are you going to do? Same logic applys to mercy. He is not properally equipped to win duals, doesnt mean you cant, just means that it is difficult

@@primadiputra274 he duo'd with EQO for a small number of games, other than that he tried a duo with SVB on support, when his SVB's main role is tank, and then the rest were solo. Even when duo, he's in the highest rank games and would get punished much harder than he would in plat if he doesn't play well.

It doesn't need to cleanse. It has massive range and makes them invincible for the duration of the pull. People really ask for too much. Not to mention he can heal them while they are being pulled to prevent them from dying to Dynamite or Venom. If your teammate runs back in while they are anti'd then they are just bad imo.

i think considering kiri can do it, and that lamp can technically save an entire team, i don’t see why not, it’s one person for that long a cool-down tbf

​@@bendj3186 The difference is. Those two abilities don't reposition the targets of them. That's being woefully underestimated here. You can cleanse a bunch of people near the enemy but if they are in poor positions they can still die. Same with Lamp.

People just think his healing is bad which it really isn’t. Also people comparing ML7s Ana to his Lifeweaver are being ridiculous. We’ve all had years to learn Ana I think we are still going through growing pains with Lifeweaver

His healing isn't bad. It's not amazing, and it's relatively limited in terms of viable comps it works well with, but it's not terrible. The problem is, that's basically all he does.
