I think it just fit a set tone like the world under an actual crisis. All the other ones felt like recent MCU movies where every 5 seconds someone has to quip or make a joke. Crazy how the robots with no facial expressions had the most emotion.
I agree. That’s probably the cutscene I liked the most. It not only does a good job at worldbuilding but gives us a chance ti understand where remattra is coming from and why he’s lashing out and honestly besides from genji he’s becoming my favorite overwatch character. I just kinda wish the dialogue sometimes was a little more mature yk?
@@jerseyhidalgo7421I think Ram could've possibly sent then to get him or something. If they were going to kill him, we would've got hacked or sniped or something.
Don't forget the voice actors too. So much character and lore built in just a series of shorts. Imagine if they had a proper budget and season, it might be on par with Arcane.
@@Madillusionist most of voice actors worked on many other projects, they are pros. I'd say more props to people who hired them for the job, there is really no character in-game that sounds even a little off or boring.
i think the cutscene already been made prior OW2 launch by dev that had left since then, we don't know whats the quality after that as mostly the dev that stick with OW2 might not be as passion as the previous one
Sojourn's dialogue and attitude towards OW is literally the dev's talking to us explaining that the game we knew is dead and although the dev's tried to save the game, it's no longer the same and time to move on.
It is still genuinely wonderful to see these characters interacting, to have the lore pushed forward, to get more story. Like despite all my problems with the game, i love this story. I love this world. I live these characters.
The ending with Sombra and Widowmaker walking up to Zenyatta literally floored me. Zen CAN'T know that Widowmaker was the person who murdered Mondatta, and if he does there is so much stuff that needs to be explained and I absolutely cannot wait for the next set of PvE missions to do so.
The lore is incredible and I really hate that it’s now locked behind poor decision making and a potential paywall. This story, I hope, will help us appreciate these characters more
@@sulwhale3171 The campaign, the talents, the special missions, it's all gone. Now it's just glorified Archives missions that they have the balls to ask money for.
I'll be honest. The only part of the story that I'm interested in is Ramattra and Null Sector. The final cutscenes between Ramattra, Zenyatta and Mondatta proves that they are capable of expanding the lore in an interesting way. Sadly it's locked behind a paywall and they removed everything of what made PVE overwatch awesome but part of me has hope that they will expand the lore of the omnics, Zenyatta and Ramattra specifically but guess we will see how long it takes for them to release cinematics and story missions.
what?? you didn't like 20 minutes of cutcenes establishing almost nothing but ransom killing robot & friends being friends, Also featuring drama spike of "We cant be a team anymore because reasons?!"
At this point i hope eventually this universe gets passed to someone who can produce content for it properly without being tied down to what the actual state of the game is. How long has it been since we got a new comic? How insane have the gaps between character CGIs become? How many years before these few cutscenes since the story actually progressed in any way? These were GREAT, but not enough after all this time. This universe deserves so much more.
Imagine ID or Ubisoft Siege making the cutscenes. Those cutscenes would be great Imagine even Dark Horse or IDW making Comics on Overwatch. I’d die a happy man seeing those 2 comic publishers make Overwatch comics
I can't even watch the end properly when RU-vid have fucking cards blocking the screen.. I know the creators choose to have them there but how the fuck is there not an option to remove them on your phone? RU-vid messing up almost as bad as Blizzard😂
God I just want an Overwatch series. The amount of lore that exists, and even amidst the dumpster fire that is OW2 they manage to produce these cinematics, it gives me a tiny amount of hope that one day we can see a complete story.
Its sad though, because I think we do want to support the artists and storywriters that made it happen, but knowing that our funds dont just support them but also the corruption of blizzard...is a tragedy.
honestly makes me wonder if Reinhardt will be the main focus. like what if his story aligns with Zenyatta's and he begins to understand how similar he truly is to omnics.
Imagine Stylosa who's probably suffering inside, torturing himself to continue playing this garbage to give content to his channel when most players moved on to better games.
The Gothenburg storyline is my personal favourite... ...Yes it's because Bastion is in it but it also made me realize Torbjorn is now my top 3 favourite characters in Overwatch.
It's interesting to see how Torb lost all of his temper as he aged. I wonder if it's because Blizzard wanted to get rid of that part of his personality.
3:54 Brig: Don't worry, I'll save him! *Whip Shot* And Lucio was never seen again. (Thankyou for posting this btw, quit OW months ago but will alays love the lore)
i love this, i love this so much. on god idk why they arent hard at work on a TV show. we've seen what Arcane and Edge runners have done for their respective games and this world and its characters are so good. honestly the best part of this franchise imo
I've been on Remnant2 since it's release and have ditched OW2 completely...now watching these shorts immediately make me miss OW2 again. Hats off to their animation team, really.
@@janvandenhooren9397 exactly man Remnant2 is like what OW2 could’ve been if they stuck with the original idea of having full PVE mode with hero skills progression!
OW2 is still pushing out banger shorts and videos, core gameplay is still fun and familiar over these years. Sadly it’s the direction Activision is making Blizz and the developers take that’s making me lose hope and ditch this game completely 🥲😔
Man... I can only imagine that this content was planned as Sojourn and Ram intro. But this whole plan was bungled. Blizzard should just push these content out as an animated series and hopefully revive some interest in the game.
I was playing the first mission and like I was so excited because I remember watching this mission at bliz con 2019. Now to see it on my TV I haven’t been this happy nor excited for Overwatch in nearly 2 years.
I do hope we get more missions in future updates for this season i really want to know more about ramattra and Zenyata's relationship through this story
13:15 If you wondering what Torbjörn's coffee mug says? In Swedish it says "Världens Bästa Farfar", in English it says "The best Grandpa/Grandfather in The World".
Can't really blame Rein for "not changing" as Torb tried to tell him, in his time with the Crusaders he probably saw enough to give PTSD 10 lifetimes over and that was before he got involved with Overwatch. Man has been through some hell, but nice to see the bromance with him and Torb get some screen time. That was probably the only standout part from this outside of the end bit with Zen/Ram/Mon.
I'm sure someone has already said this, but the only thing I really dislike about this is how long it's taken for the lore to move forward. I've been playing with Lucios on my team for years, and now I'm just meeting him? Kinda pulls you out of the experience.
Cassidy saying Morrison is off chasing ghosts and stating he isn't coming back with such a serious tone, makes me think he did in fact manage to track him down but that the conversation didn't go all too well.
When I saw the ending of demo of the invasion, I was worried but thankfully I’m glad Lucio was able to survive what’s great that Lucio join overwatch. It’s nice to see the reunion of whiston and sojourn. Though it’s a bummer that sojourn refused to return to overwatch, it’s understandable why she choose not because she mention that overwatch that she join lost sight of why overwatch was made in the first place. With that said, in many ways to me, sojourn is a combination Ashoka Tano and Mcu Steve Rogers because the two characters are people that fought for what made them join but overtime, the organization that they once knew became corrupt which led them to make hard choices which is why sojourn refused to return because she doesn’t want to be in a corruptive place again. The conversation between the three omnics is inspiring and heartbreaking at the same time. One that care deeply for the survival of their machine kind while the other wants to make peace with the machines and the humans and the third is the middle ground. It’s the beautiful to see the three omnics together because it shows how close the three are. The way reinheart warm up to bastion shows the progression of humans accepting the omnics while the second war is currently happening. This story gave me the impression that overwatch 2 is doing a similar take dragon ball xenoverse 2 is currently doing. Overall, This great start for overwatch 2 and I can’t for what next for this story.
What's interesting is the ironclad scene as they mention "soul'. I wonder if they still believe in souls (mercy) or are they using it in a metaphorical way .
@@cajunking5987 Based on torb's dialogue we have two routes they believe in platonic thought or it could be something different. "Like the essence of who is-is gone"
God this hurts to see, because I enjoy the story and the cutscenes but despise the gameplay and predatory monetization. Thank you for uploading these to RU-vid stylosa, this is all I need from overwatch from now on.
The shot of the Iris was breathtaking. I wanna play again, but Blizzard's taken too much from me at this point. I'll be content watching from the sidelines
Thing is this was actually well animated and the story was good had me hooked unfutuantely it’s behind a pay wall this gave all the characters more personality
Seeing all of them standing together around the table was really cool. First time we have seen the majority of the heroes together in a cinematic. Like after all that has happened, the Petras act, everyone going separate ways, we finally get to see them standing together, like in the old footage from the omnic crisis. I still miss a couple of the OGs tho, but they have their own personal missions I guess. But hey, new members right. Weird to think about that almost half of the characters was never a a part of overwatch. But whatever, I like this story
Imagine this with talent trees, leveling up your heroes and playing personal singleplayer hero missions like with zen. Blizzard really bottled this my god.
His birth was a war weapon but he chose to live in harmony with mankind Contrary to his wish for peace, the reality was that the deaths of his relatives continued and in such a situation, he must have felt that an powerless ideal would do nothing For Ramatra, it would have been the best realistic option to defeat the enemy with force and find freedom for his kindred people In a way, Ramatra is a revolutionary of misfortune created by society and Zenyata is a dreamer who only dreams of ideals while standing by the death of his fellow people
thanks for this because there is no way i give bobby assdick my money. thanks sty and honestly i really do "appriciate "(i can never spell thid word) you being so honest while there are so many shill ow channels outthere always praising overwatch and getting payed for it.
Kudos for the animation and art team. Also huge thanks for uploading this Sty, cause yeah after how upper management has treated OW2 yeah, I'm not buying PvE.
The omnic scenes are the best imo, maybe its because im a huge robot fanatic but theres just sm story potential behind them. Its a world where the entire premise is people living w robots after the crisis and yet Blizzard has only given us so little, esp after like 5+ years. I really hope theyd be able to expand more on things like Rein's internalised robo-racism, how Numbani works, Zen's reaction to Mondatta's death, Echo being a literal copy of a dead person, etc
Could you please move the end card that's in the top right to the bottom right? It covers up the characters walking in. Edit: I really like how at 14:22, when Ganymede comes in, it quotes the musical theme from The Last Bastion!
