I love how all of Mei’s friends died from being frozen to death and she still chooses to smile as she sticks an icicle through your head as you are unable to move.

Story-wise, she's a great character who I love. When she's on the enemy team, she's the literal devil

For the people who say "She treats snowball like its a real pet" this is an era where robots have feelings so..yeah...

Mercy: "Mei, you haven't aged a day! What's your secret?" Mei: "Cryostasis. But...." (traumatic flashback to what she saw in the pods) "....I'm not sure I'd recommend it."

After all the trauma Mei went through it’s no wonder all her players are psychopaths.

God Mei is so sweet... I know there's the joke about her being the devil, but she left hot drinks for friends even after they died, put a solar panel on her backpack to bring back Snowball's energy and trekked across the Antarctic to rejoin Overwatch. She's probably one of the sweetest characters in Overwatch

If you think about it, Mei is the embodiment of Overwatch's core message - the whole "always use more heroes" thing. She was but a lowly climatologist while Overwatch was around, and then after "witnessing" her colleagues and friend's deaths, faced insurmountable odds to hopefully save millions of people, even taking up the recall message. Truly one of my favourite shorts Edit - Since some people are confused, when I said 'Lowly Climatologist', I meant in terms of the more fantastical Heroes in the roster. No disrespect to irl Climatologists

This is legit Disney-Pixar quality, complete with feels and an uplifting ending. Bravo.

Blizzard should either make an Overwatch movie, or a story mode in the game. We would rather much prefer both though.

It frustrates me to no end that Overwatch has no story mode. The characters and lore absolutely _beg_ for one, as evidenced by these animated shorts.

Mei literally found out her friends died and she was the last survivor. And in a matter of a minute, she moved on. Snowball, her only friend left sacrificed them self and she was completely left alone. And what did she do? She moved on. Honestly this girl is so strong and brave, she keeps moving forward, not looking back on the past, keeping her hope, her determination, it’s all so inspiring. A lot of us would have just cried and maybe even blamed the world. This could have been Mei’s backstory on how she becomes a villain, blaming society for the disbandment of overwatch, thus letting her friends die. But she swears to protect humanity and fight alongside overwatch. Truly an idol

SO SNOWBALL IS THE REASON WHY SHE CAN FREEZE MY WHOLE TEAM?

Mei's story is so inspiring every time I watch it. She wakes up after 9 years to find she has been forgotten and is all alone except snowball after finding out her team has died in cryogenic sleep. And after her struggles to create the cry-gun and losing her friends and snowball she tries to call for help only to be met with a call for help back and even after all that she choses not to give up hope but to answer the call of from Overwatch. To me that is what makes her a true hero even in her greatest time of need she puts others before herself even if it means facing near impossible odds.

Honestly, I feel like the game, lore, and all these cinematics are leading up to the reforming of overwatch, and that will ultimately be the start of a movie.

My one problem with this story is that at no point in the process of disbanding overwatch did anyone stop and realize “oh $#!+ we have a bunch of scientists currently frozen in Antarctica, we should send someone to wake them up and send them home” or worse the possibility that they were intentionally left for dead

Mei has one of the best origin stories. She could have her own full movie.

We have these beautiful animations which gives us a better story of certain characters We also have the players who make them look like the antichrist or something worse

A lot of people say that Widowmaker's back story is pretty depressing, but if you think about it, Mei's story is quite sad. Imagine waking up and finding that your work mates, your friends, were dead and Overwatch, the heroes who saved many people, had been disbanded. It'd be pretty upsetting.

This woman is really quick to freeze herself solid in a block of ice and make cold puns for days considering someone with her very specific and intense trauma

The theme that plays during the scene where she observes the night sky, admiring the aurora literally gave me goosebumps! The music of this game is soooo good!

In the lore, Mei is such a sweet character. She even pours hot drinks in her friends' mugs and puts them on their freezing chambers to pay her respects. In the game, she's a little devil who denies all your abilities and ultimates, and even mobility. And that's why I play her.

So this is the origin story of how Mei learned to freeze stuff. Now all she has to do is freeze people and she's ready to escort a random payload!
