Roadhog has way more health and a heal for massive sustain. Sym is *nothing* like a Roadhog. I do understand your point about reaper though, but he's been kinda niche for a while.
Milbox R the game is not a First person shooter. The STYLE is a first person shooter. The game is a team game with character that have vastly different abilities. This isn’t COD. All of the heroes shouldn’t be DPS. But fuck if they won’t do it because “it feels good to play DPS instead of Tank or Support”.
From playing her since lauch I can allredy tell you she isn't moving from her own tier (Symm tier = garbage tier). Her rework only changes her role: her primary fire is a shrodinger's cat, secondary fire is better and so is the tp but both her shield and turrets are weaker so the ods are 2,5 : 2,5. The rework is pretty much pointless

I’m a Sym main so this is really exiting but i play on console and know that this patch won’t hit the live servers. She does seem to look a bit op so there is a 99% she will get nerfed before she hits live
Is it nice for her mains that wanted exactly what they saw? I am mad at Blizzard for changeing her so drasticley. I get why they did it but it could have been done a lot better
The Joker How is a simple barrier one of the best ultimates? The tp was the only good thing about this rework but they did it so you have to see the location in order to throw the tp there. The turrets are enev worst than without the rework and her weapon is still just 10m. Her orbs won't save this entire rework

People used to play incredibly brave against old Hanzo until they see you can actually hit with his arrows. Then after rework everyone treats you like a Soldier w/ ult up constantly
You're clearly unaware of how much damage is done by spamming attack. She can easily erase 200hp heroes in less than a second. I'm not entirely sure you're qualified to discuss this issue.

Think about that, and tell me she's balanced for having a ten meter range. That's a few thousand damage per second. A few THOUSAND. She out damages bastion by an order of magnitude. Seriously, you need to go to the Reddit or actually boot up the PTR. You're completely oblivious to the absurd amounts of damage she's able to output right now.
I always argued from the start that the “offense” and “defense” categories don’t really accurately portray their respective heroes. Junkrat is labeled as defense when he is more than capable of attacking on his own with his crazy damage output
lionelep1 junkrat is the worst example you could have used and originally was very heavily defense orientated as he can hold down chokes and corridors. Widow for example works much better on attack than def as all she needs to do is get a pick whereas on defence she could be ineffective and not find the kill making her team fall
The Squid They are a pain. Orisa should have three or so and then she has to recharge like junks mine. I hate that she can just throw down before one even runs out. Mix that with a Rein and you need a Bastion probably with a pocket healer.
86AvZ if you are struggling breaking shields in OW right now, there's something wrong lol... The DPS in this game can easily shred through Rein and orisa barriers with zero effort at all

BadKitty NoTuna The chances of you getting hit by her old orbs were VERY little. The damage doesn't matter if it never hits you. Her nee orbs move much faster and explode on contact...... It's going to hurt, but should be fun!
Logic Please you're kidding right? I hit people with her old orbs all the time, hell the best combo for her is to charge up an orb, shoot it through someone then left click and most people die instantly. But even still even her slow orb was great at tunneling through a choke always hit tons of people
BadKitty NoTuna So it was used as a shotgun rather than a ranged weapon? Anything is viable from close range. I'll give you the choke point though, but the slow moving projectiles are not easy to land. The only reason why you would be able to consistantly hit people over and over with the orb is because they A: Allow it because they have a healer and orbs one shot no one. B: you are playing a game type/at a position were sym gettings her ult is useless so they allow it. C:The enemy team literally cannot move D:They are dumb and probably wouldn't take there hand off of a burning stove if they had to. When I played OW A lot I usually played as a tank(usually Rein). And whenever I saw a Sym spamming orb, I called out there position and we reposition. Simple. At the end of the day, you obviously are a sym main or/and play OW a lot. If a person played sym for a week, they wouldn't know how to complete/execute that mechanic. That's why Symmetra mains are one of the lowest population's in OW.
Logic Please Umm yes Symmetra mains used to use the ball as a shotgun, and it worked like a charm if you attached your beam afterwards. Also, they can be extremely effective at long range if you aim them through the right corridors or choke points. I always play Symmetra on Temple of Anubis when on Defense, because you can place all your turrets high up on the choke wall. This forces them to turn around and shoot the turrets. You follow that up by spamming the balls from the room on the right. I get teleporter in the first 60 seconds of the match very consistently with this strategy.
ok from what I've tested in the ptr symmetra tp can carry: your team heroes, even heroes that are ulting like a high noon McCree junkrat tire Dva bomb strangely her own turret her turret: can now be stunned like torb turret can't be deflected can't be eaten by dva when she ult she say: REALITY BEND TO MY WILL!
So I have some ideas in regards to reworking sym into a support. But note that I am fine with her being a dps or tank. Just as long as she has a defined role. 1.) Turrets- Sym will now have access to 6 turrets. When she presses the button for the turrets she’ll have 2 options. 1 being the damage and the other being the damage turrets. I’d say that the healing turrets should heal for around maybe 15 just because it’d be a bit much to have them heal for a lot. I’d also the damage turrets show the character that is being damaged by them. I’d also have the turrets no longer have the slow purely because their annoying to deal with and she will be having more. This will cause the sym player to have to chose carefully and will change depending on the situation. 2.) Photon projector(gun)- For the photon projector I’d have to change it so that she does have the ability to heal her teammates. I’d change her secondary fire so that it’s now a healing or that just like the old orb deals splash damage and the amount of healing that it does is dependent on how long the player charged it. I don’t know if it should be like anas weapon where if it hits a teammate it heals them and if it hits an opponent it deals damage. That’s left to whoever wants to participate in this little idea. For the primary shell obviously deal less damage. I thought about allowing it to pierce opponents at the cost of less range and for it to charge up quicker but that may not be needed. Overall the orb one is merely to allow her to have a way of healing with also the requirement to have to aim. 3.) Teleporter- I”d have the teleporter launch quicker so as to allow the player to help their team get out of situations better such as a Zarya grav. If possible I’d also have it either have a full cleanse or at the very least lessen the effects of a move like ash’s dynamite. I’d also want it’s cool off to be like sombras translocator to start off when it’s used. I want teleporter to be used more and more creatively rather than a get out of spawn quicker move. I wouldn’t really change the cool down maybe increase it if the cool down starts once it’s used but that might not be needed. 4.) Ult- The one thing I liked about old sym was how unlike other characters she had more than 1 option when it came to ults. I want to keep that but I will not have the shield gen come up because I know that most players found that frustrating and I think we can replace it with something better. I’d keep her barrier ult merely because it is useful, I’d add her old 1.0 teleporter because it can be used in certain situations. And I’d add another contraption called an anti cc generator. The purpose is to weaken the effects of cc. Think of it being a mini fortify without the damage reduction. I’d certainly be fine with other ideas I just want her to have more options given how she is know for utility. 5.)General- These changes are more meant for sym herself and none of her abilities. I’d give sym maybe 25 or 50 more shields. Which would equal to either 225 or 250 health. This is just meant to help her since she does have low survivability. I’d also give her a passive. I heard one where she gets a small amount of shields if she uses her primary fire on shields. That sounds fine but I’m open to other ideas. Overall, the reason I’m doing this is because I believe a character like sym should be reworked given how she is not the best. I think it’d be healthy to have another support. But I’d be fine to have her still be a dps or even a tank. Just as long as she has a defined role.
She’s been my favorite hero since day 1 with giving 25 shields was an ability. Then came he shield generator and barrier ... And now, my girl ain’t playing no more games with y’all
I think a lot of people are worried about infinite teles back from spawn but from what I gather the ability works similar to reaper's relocating ability, so it the "in" portal is where sym stands, and the "out" is placed within a certain range and line of sight
3quinox the magnificent Moira also takes no aim Zarya does though. Also, I'm so glad about these changes because sym is actually not a throw pick for once and she actually takes skill as well.
Xkore1 The problem is that breaking it in time achieves absolutely nothing^^ This might be a indirect buff for more mobile heros and therefore a bit of a nerf for brig. At least I hope so^^
Whenever I play her, the ult only stays for a few seconds and so do the teleporters. I'm ok with the teleporters disappearing, but the barrier is an ult, so that should stay up I think.
So the shield gets placed on the ground, right in the middle of your aim, at the distance the graphical shield gets deployed, so if you place it in a way so that the center of the shield is out of bounds, they the shield either doesn't get placed at all, or gets placed under the playing area either being unreachable or instantly destroyed by the falling out of map's barrier.
I like that there's a bit more of a focus on hardlight rather floppy laser beams/blobs. Really like changes to beam/blobs but a line needs to be drawn under the Mexico wall for an ultimate
My thoughts: •Her ult charges a bit too fast •It might be a bit broken being able to teleport your team every 7 seconds She needed this and it adds a lot to her character, I can actually see her being really useful now
they will only tweak CD's and maybe barrier HP but she'll be more usefull and skill skillfull (inb4 reading : we have to aim... tp is useless reaper do it and got killed... blablabla)

5000 seems like a lot but imo I think it might actually be worth to fire into it. Certain ultis like roadhog do 800 dps against it, so would take it down in 6 seconds. It'll crack faster than u think too, since it'll absorb all damage caused. On the other hand, it can give your team a breather against certain comps. It won't save you from that rein in your face, but it'll block junkrat spam/phara rockets so your healers can top you off.
Now what we need is for torb to get a remote controlled turret as another ability which he can manouver around the map all the while manually shooting until the turret dies... The turret will have a mercy like cooldown when broken and is not repairable. During molten core the turret will aim by itself while u move it... The turret does not gain a damage or health boost but it will shoot faster... The sentry turret will remain the same during that
Her beam curved around walls. This is much better for Gengi and the monkey who I could kill before as Sym is also going to be so much harder to fight too.
Nice thing about the teleporter is she'll be able to teleport her whole team through areas that weren't possible (or all that practical) before. Think Volskya's left path on the first point and Hanamura's left path on the second point, liking the possibilities here.
00:49 This means... this means... this mean she actually has to aim and can't kill people as fast. This is actually great. Her portal can now be used more frequently, but it lasts for a lot less time and they can only be created between two points you can see, not from the spawn. Her turrets and orbs are the only things that have improved.
The damage on the primary does ramp up, yes, however there are longer intervals between levels. There's higher damage/level, though. The Ult is cool, but it could have been a bit more. Like actually preventing enemies from passing through.
Is it me, or does Blizzard just hate tanks? Reaper and Mei get buffed, Brigette is revealed, and now Symmetra devours shields and can throw turrets AND teleports behind tank shields. And as the cherry on top, she gets RIDICULOUS ult charge for a 5K shield that is vastly superior to Orisa and Rein? Seriously, what the hell?
Dont know, the fact that you need line of sight for the teleporters makes them somewhat... meh. And... i suppose you can walk through that barrier as an enemy, right? So... 5000 HP for nothing? Okay, you force sniper to come closer in order to make damage but not sure if thats worth it
I can't imagine her Ultimate having a lot of use in a battle except for covering up a choke point and that's it. I wonder what it would be like in Deathmatch.
What all does Symm build charge off of? Can she still build charge from Mei's ice wall, or what about her ice block now that lock on is no longer needed?
well, i see it as a great defense against d.va bomb and other ults, you cant wait it out :D when a soldier pops his visor and you put this in front of you, unless he can sprint behind it, his ult is lost
David Podeszwa Especially considering your team can shoot at the soldier. This ultimate is a creative counter ultimate. No stronger than something like Zenyatta's but can counter different things better.
Before you freak out im just messing with you. You cant play him like you normally would by diving but if you save that jump and play your front line with Briggette he is melting.
I already can see the forums after this rework. "Symmetra is actually worse than she was before" "Once again the DPS mains ruined my support hero" "I don't want to play Symmetra and be considered a DPS main" And the list goes on and on.
Currently, the PTR feedback forums are REALLY split. About 50% of posts talking about her are saying she's completely useless and even more of a throw pick than before, and another 50% of posts are saying she's incredibly overpowered and can win games incredibly easily.
That barrier is awesome, but if the enemy team focuses it, it should go down quite quickly, if you consider how quickly reins shield can get melted, it's only 2.5 times that.. I can't wait for this change tbh, she looks fun to play.
It ramps up. You can see the beam intensify. But it takes time and would be a lot harder to do since if you break contact for even a moment I assume it resets. And I'm really not sure about that barrier. Seems like in many places it would be places such that there'd be plenty of out of the way places you could go to burn it down out of enemy sight.
This is totally off topic but do you guys think a character that could affect the speed of gameplay in certain areas would be viable? Like a counter for tracer almost. I haven’t worked out all the mechanics yet but primary fire would slow down n damage. They could lob time orbs that slow down enemies like grenades. And the ultimate would be a large scale time slow of an area or like a grenade that affects everyone in the area like lucios sound barrier but negatively.
I'm going to assume that the Photon Barrier stops once it collides with things such as walls and ceilings. As big 5000 hp might seem, there is obviously a counter to it, Sombra's EMP. That and Bastion but that might take him a bit, like maybe 7-8 seconds ;)
Blizzard usually waits a very long time to see if things doesn't balance themselves by time. Sounds stupid but often things are only op because players can't immediately figure out how to play against certain things and by time, winrates go back to normal without anything to patch. I always liked this approach and I hope Blizzard keeps it that way.
everyone says that every time anything changes and lo and behold the game goes on and to most of us is more fun to play than it ever was. They'll fix it if it needs fixed, they always start a little OP and tune it down as opposed to the other way around.

I'll give you that, they took WAY too long to make changes to junkrat, if they were going to nerf him after his changes they should have done it within a month of his release, not let everyone get used to his power and then take it away down the line.
To make this rework better they have to increase the explosion size from the right click and maybe increase the charge rate gained by hitting with the orbs, increase the turrets hp to have over 60hp (at least 1 regular hp to protect them from beeing destroyed instantly by emp) and increase the ammount of turrets to 4 (there needs to be symmetry :D), tp can't have a button to use it (especially when it's a voice line button), increase the ammo ammount to at least 100, slightley increase the range in wich you can deploy the barrier and give it something else like slow effect when crossing it or damage resistance ect. She also deserves a passive. For example a turret floating above her shoulder or reparing closeby shields
You don't gain ult charge when hitting shields... She is strong against shields but every shield wealeder kills you faster than you can kill them, even at max charge. Her turrets (30hp) and her ultimate (just meh when you look at other ultimates) are soo bad. Her secondary fire and tp are better than what she has now but it's not anything special and she needed special. But the tp is still useles when you can pick another hero that just simpley does more and has a movement abbility on a shorter cd. The tp can work in cheaky comps but the point of this rework was to make her a sure thing, not a "maybe it'll work" and especially not in a cheaky comp. We'll see how good is the new primary fire but since I have to think about it I guess it's not going to go well
Im frankly not a big fan of her weapon changes. There are already so few heroes who are friendly for people mediocre at aiming, and her old orbs were useful for countering reinhardt walls.
Planetesimal this is a first person shooter git gud, and we have Brigitte, junkrat, mei, mercy, moira, torb, and winston but yea that's a "few" apparently....
None of the characters should be friendly to shit players. I mean what the fuck. You should reward skill and punish sucking ass. Not the other way around.
The beam change is the only thing I don't like about this rework. Symetra's old beam made her a good choice for people who weren't super confident in their aim, depending on how forgiving the hit box is this may be a change for the worse as afar as low level play goes.
she's an anti choke point character now. Literally, an anti defence character, speced in bypassing and having your team bypassing controlled areas. The teleport, but also her ult that denies enemy fire from safe position and allow your team to get closer without getting destroyed. If she isn't useless as a dps outside of that, she could completely change metas and tactics by opening up totally new way of assaulting strongly defended points. I didn't like symetra, but if she allows now for such original strategies, she's a welcome hero in my book.
