to grow one successfully here in the UK you will need a microclimate. Eg lee or south facing wall, near a heat source such as a heater vent. There are some growing down Portsmouth and London which has a microclimate due to being a city where there is heat loss radiated from buildings. Another winter requirement is to keep the crown dry , but air must flow freely around it otherwise you'll mildew in it
mine survived and I wrap it for 4 months but it dont like it. but the roots are more protect in the ground, what will you fo when it gets big ?? good video
More cold tolerant yes, but not suitable for wet/cold/damp/long winters that we get in the UK. Robusta seems more capable of surviving these conditions in the UK.
filifera like lower humidity and should not be wrapped at all in winter in the UK where the Humidity will be really high all winter. It also needs more heat to grow well.
