We got to look over this rather fabulous Westley Richards Ovundo!
At first, I thought it was a bit odd, but after an hour spend filming with it - I was a big fan

It grew on me throughout the video. What's great about it is that it's unconventional, and it's a conversation piece as well as a work of art.

I looked after one for a client for over ten years and now I own it. At first I thought it was ugly but it grew on me. Now I love it and it certainly is a conversation piece.

Still an exciting maker. Get up to Birmingham and do a factory tour of Westleys, way closer than Italy!

The Holt's shotgun's are spot on made in England makes it priceless . These are my thoughts. This is one lovely gun I'd buy it in a heartbeat. The lines make it so beautiful... They rocked it back in the day .

I love these Holts videos. As someone just getting into shotgun shooting I'm learning a lot about different guns from them.

Once again a great show of craftsmanship of something made with less high tech machinery. I look at these older guns and have a sense of amazement of the hours of hand tool work that was done. Like you said in a perfect world with tons of cash, I would buy that gun and then have them modernize a new version. I thing of Remington’s K32 that evolved to the Krieghoff K80’s or what John Browning had for tools and the creation he made. I am just amazed. Thanks for sharing guns and history that most of the shooting world will never know existed.

I love it. It makes me understand why some people get so attached to material things. Never have I wanted to own something so bad.

I was having trouble with rheumatics in my right hand when shooting with a pistol grip, it got painful after about 20 shots, then I came across a B25 B2G roach belly straight english stock and problem solved, probably the most comfortable gun I have shot

It did grow on me, then I do love unconventional things. It would be interesting to see it with a different stock. Do love the work on the extension. Boy you get to play with some fun guns!

I know it would be a hard video to make but I would love a video talking about the rules about how those of us from other countries could buy and export guns from the Holts auctions, in the meantime keep up the great work love the holts videos!

Really enjoyed this video. Could you consider doing a video looking at all English O/U actions, through Edwinson Green to Boss and Purdey letting us see how they developed and what has survived and adopted by the modern gunmakers.

A good looking gun. As for design you had artisans working on 'modern' concepts that were used to stock designs to them that worked and what they were trained and expected to produce. It is a real cross over from traditional to semi modern and should be celebrated as so. Its a Wankel engine in a T model Ford and should be celebrated as. Good video as always and thank you for passing your enthusiasm and knowledge on to us folks!!! Thanks to Holt's as well for presenting a great site and commitment to our sport!!!

It’s beautifully made. When it was built over and unders were a long from being mainstream, but a few makers were feeling their way. I am not sure about the stippling on the action / barrel join, but that is a matter of style rather than substance. I wonder how it handles and shoots. I suspect more like a merkel / suhl style with weight between the hands.

Hi , I have a Winchester 101 super grade xtr.it has a straight hand stock and I love it. I use it for game and clays .It is as brand new condition.. I like the sleek lines of a straight hand stock. So would love to own that ovundo by Westley Richards.

Very different looking but beautifully done. It would be fun to shoot it and compare it to more modern guns. Have you ever considered doing a review of a Winchester model 21 and compare it to British doubles?

might say London on the side but was made in Birmingham, where Westley Richards still are. It's a sad time as most of the original gun quarter that was still remaining has just been demolished. And don't get me started on no shooting at Birmingham Commonwealth Games :(

Always such great videos and quality editing/shooting/conversation. What is the background music? Specifically in the beginning of the video. The music always portrays such a “high-end” stately feeling and ambiance.

Very nice gun not so unusual though, have a look at the Baretta S3 from 1953 similar lines no vented rib or centre bead. If I could afford it I would buy it. Cheers for the channel it's great.

After a few decades of killing game with vanilla cookie cutter firearms, eventually (for me at least) it becomes more about the experience and what enhances the experience more than using fine quality “interesting” guns. That is exceptionally interesting! Great eye btw, yes that definitely needs a fuller pistol grip esthetically 👍🏼

Yeah, the SxS looking butt throws everything else a bit off. And it somehow manages to be deep AND wide. Still, it's an interesting design to look at. Given they went with the full-width hinge pin, and had all that space to do an underbite lockup, I have to wonder if they were trying to skate around some Browning patents with those rear hooks. People complain about the rearward projections on Greeners; those hooks look even more wicked.

The correct Serial No for your Pistol is (989). NOT (686) You were holding it upside down. The number eight always has the larger circle at the bottom, as you must know, also the two nines look slightly more curved than a six. Regards Alan Edis- Burton. Fine detail specialist.
