definitely. strong personality. he's going to tell you the story he wants to tell you, and then for the last 10 seconds he'll give you half an answer to your question. good way of holding frame.
I love Owen, his enthusiasm is amazing. Plenty of ex players say he doesn't do enough work on shape and tactics but surely you'd rather play for Owen than some chap with an I Pad who got top marks on his UEFA training course ?
Burnley fan here. What a fantastic podcast this was! Has to be said that despite the whole debacle in the 09/10 season, I think it’s safe to say Burnley wouldn’t be where we are now without Owen’s work. Of course it left a sour taste leaving to go to Bolton, but the appreciation will never go amiss. :)
Legend of Scottish football. Hated him when he played with Airdrie. He eventually came to my team Falkirk in his later years... and all fans I knew where delighted because you knew what you were getting... he was one of those players who gave everything he had to win. Absolutely need a part 2 and possibly part 3.
It hurt when Coyle left us mid season for Bolton but over a decade on I’ve got nothing but respect and admiration for Owen. He rejuvenated Burnley and laid the groundwork for our success of recent years. Cheers Coyleeeeee
Being a Burnley fan I wasn't sure what to expect, but I enjoyed that. Eye opening to hear what was going on behind the scenes towards the end of his time at the club. More so to hear about the Venky's and how they are stitching up their managers!
Gutted we didn't manage to get a 'Coyyyyle' out of him!! I thought he'd be a right loose cannon going off the way ex pros have spoken about him but his enthusiasm for football is infectious... Be a class manager to play for... Legend 👏🏻
Love a podcast came across this by chance brilliant could listen to Owney all day long, grew up with Owney in the Gorbals he’s one of the nicest most genuine guys you’ll ever meet absolute gentleman
What a guy, be a goodman to have a brew (or a bisto) with. Can see why he was relitavely successful whilst in the prem, how could you not wanna play for him.
The guy should be on mastermind with a memory like that, great watch. As a bwfc fan gutted it went pear shaped after a good start. Good at lifting a team with potential but being able to maintain that was his weakness, especially when we had a bad run of injuries. Some poor signings and bizarre selections (Bogdan over Jussi for example) just made things worse.
As much a I like parky, I don't get his constant negative comments towards players who took a pay cut because they wanted to play. Nobody judges you because you wanted to remain with your lard arse on the bench picking up cheques.
Brilliant Interview..Big Coyley's top notch ...so much enthusiasm for the game..any young player would benefit playing for him ..Great move by Queens Park getting him in ..fantastic podcast..Hail Hail Oweny Bhoy 🍀👌
As a fan that Reading game was incredible, I was exhausted afterwards, it felt like I'd played. When Branagan saved that penalty it felt like we had scored.
And if it makes you all feel better I didn’t know about Dave’s ‘controversial financial background’ but then again I wasn’t the one interviewing him for a popular podcast to thousands including his victims probably 😂😂 Can’t wait for the live shows lads thanks for getting back on the road so soon cos I missed the last show I was gutted 👍🏻
you forget that in the 15 years difference between coyles and parkys age more footballers have had to become mercenaries as you get a deal and very rarely after say a 3 yr deal is done you get another as the managers probably changed twice since the one that signed you.
@@rampantram1 Watched all undr the cosh and nearly all the guests have said they would rather play football than sit on their arses just collecting money some of the boys never even took their insurance money because they wanted to play Football
I like him but also thought it was full of well rehearsed 'after dinner circuit' type anecdotes, and sometimes also came across like he was selling his managerial and playing record like it was a job interview. That said, all outweighed by his great energy and positivity though, good character.
Sean Dyche spent 750k on Ashley Barnes the season we went up. Don't know what he's on about parachute payments for, most of Dyches squad were free transfers. I don't care that he was on the same contract at Bolton, he left Burnley in the middle of a relegation battle. He'll never admit it, but the biggest mistake he made was leaving Burnley.
