Who knows? It could well be in the corporation's long term plan, to buy up "at risk" cemeteries in an attempt to preserve them so as to keep them from deteriorating or falling into the wrong hands.

@@TRUTHRULES777 I doubt a developer would buy a cemetery to build on. It’s no surprise that most developers are cheap. They want to build something at the lowest cost possible. Exhuming potentially hundreds of bodies from a cemetery is far from a cheap process. That’s why developers typically target old building or empty lots. It’s far cheaper to demolish an old building than go through the careful process of exhuming human remains. This is precisely why you still see cemeteries. They are not worth building new development on.

@@TRUTHRULES777 Also the cemetery business is very profitable. The cost of traditional burial is very high. People who own cemeteries profit greatly off the grief of others. The only people who get buried nowadays are old rich people. Owning a cemetery is big money.

My Mom passed away 2 days ago. She was very superstitious so she never bought a plot or burial plans in advance. So it was up to me and my sister to buy her plot and arrange for everything. Earlier today I got her a plot plus labor for burial at around $3600. I don't think thats really excessive. it depends on location and also if you go to thru a middle man. The cemetery I bought the plot was in Renton. Wa. They don't sell in advance. I inquire two weeks earlier they won't sell me a plot until I have a death certificate. These prevent greedy individuals from buying plots and selling them for profits.@@thecreator772

One of the people interested in buying it has family laid to rest there. So the point of buying it is to keep the place clean and kept up. Unfortunately it takes money to keep the grounds anywhere clean, even a cemetery. Got to say, it is the first time I have heard of this, that's for sure.
