Hello! Thank you for this information! I recently lost my GS service dog and went to our local rescue and was guided to a rescue that they think is a Kelpie mix but looking at your LH I believe my rescue might be completely Lapponian! My trainer and I are working at making her a mobility/retriever service dog! I am SO EXCITED!!
The fact that they have "two modes" really explains what I've been experiencing at home with mine. One day we can be out doors walking for hours, and when we come home she'll just plop down at my legs. Other days it can be rather slow day and not do much walking, but once we get out, she's ON. I really had a hard time understanding how she could be so damn full of energy outdoors, yet being so relax at home. Not complaining, just didn't understand
Could you review how to clean ears and why we do this. I have a Chinese crested that I got from Kay Phiser from Florida. I tried to find one of your earlier episodes, but I could not find it. Thanks for all your entertaining education. Sue
I was wondering if my dog is a lapponiam. Do they snap their teeth a lot? She's always grabbing my American Bulldog on the legs and neck and when they play, that's when she snaps her teeth. Thanks
They are herding dogs, but they’re not too nippy with their mouths. They will sit in front of another dog and pester them… and herd them with their body. You can do a wisdom panel DNA test or Embark DNA test to find out if your dog is lapponian herder!
Doctor Lindsay, your babies are beautiful & handsome 🐶🐶 I do love the coat being short haired. Does this breed get along with other dogs? I do have a staffy myself. I'm thinking on getting a second dog. I'm torn between dalmatian or lapponian.
The puppy looks a lot like a GSD puppy. I know the breed was almost completely decimated in WWII and breeders had to outcross to save the breed. Were German Shepherds bred into the breed at some point?
This breed wants cool winds and mountains. Please don't get more LH to florida just because you like to looks of it. Its a very intelligent dog and if it had the privilege to choose where to stay, it would be in colder climate nature where it belongs.
Michigan and my chocolate baby loved the sun his fur would be hot and he hated water. But I kinda get what your saying he loved playing in the snow just as much and would shed every few months summer or winter around his hips and shoulders mostly.
