I had quite a bit of an an upper inner ankle problem which I solved by adding a pool of hot melt glue under the clasp of the the upper buckle on my FR1s. I also trimmed the top thick upper strap off a few cm. This keeps a little space between the plastic outer shell and the liner around my ankle area and reduces the pressure in that area but still allows the top buckle to be tightened to the desired level.

@uu3903 2 года назад
Brilliant, low cost fix. I've had several skates with T-nuts installed cock-eyed which could be felt through the liners and caused pain. After reseating the nut and tightening then covered with a bit of puffy tape (or furniture slider 😉), the pain issue was solved.

What an easy fix. I don’t own a pair of rollerblades. I used to skate 20 years ago when I was a kid. My daughters 6th birthday is coming up and I got her a cheap adjustable pair. I’ll get her better ones if she sticks with it. But in the meantime I’m thinking that I might have to get some myself if I intend on keeping up with her. So I have been looking around and your reviews have been most convincing that these are what I should get
@RichHayterSkater
@RichHayterSkater 2 месяца назад
These ARE what you should get! As a good Dad, you owe it to your daughter to show her that playtime doesn’t end just because you’re an adult! Trust me, she’ll think you’re the coolest Dad! Until she gets older, quits skating, and is suddenly embarrassed by you. At this point you’ll be such a good skater you won’t even care! 😁👍

I love your dedication to this skate. I'm just beginning and have ordered a pair of MF500s from Decathlon here in Canada. I play hockey and have experience skating but I haven't touched a pair of roller blades since I was a kid. In addition to cruising around, I'd also really like to play roller hockey. I've looked into hockey inline skates but it seems like you have to dish out a fair bit of money for anything not crap, especially for hockey specific brands. The MF500s seemed like the best balance that was available locally. Do you think that the MF500s would perform okay for a sport like roller hockey? Thanks for any insight!

Thanks for this fix, it eased the pain a fair bit, but it's still there. I find that there is a plastic sheet inside the liner that wraps around the achilles. The inner end of this sheet is what digs into my ankle when i tighten the buckles properly. I love these skates to bits, using them mosty with a rockered 4x90 setup, but this ankle pain really limits how long and often i can skate. For this sole reason i am looking for another boot. Anybody else had this same issue? Maybe a solution for it, or a different liner that fits this boot well?

I know this is off-topic, but my soul slides are looking exactly like yours right now, but I am pretty sure this is not the proper soul slide... I wonder if it has to do with flexibility or something different. The internal hip rotation is pretty damn difficult to get right. The protectors I use are pretty flat and soft, you may have to try a few different things to find something that works. I even considered sticking a thin strip of cardboard across it. It needs to be firm enough to protect your ankle from it, but not too thick or tough that it’s going to cause a new pressure point.

Do you mean the axel bolts for the wheels? If so, you would need to switch out the entire frame as these frames do not have threaded axel holes. This was a complaint I had with these skates I ,initially, as having to use two Allen keys was frustrating. However, I’ve since learned that most of the time, I can use a single Allen key and simply press my thumb against the opposite side to stop it rotating. There are very few occasions now when I require twoAllen keys. I hope the helps.!👍

The bolt is one problem, the other if you tie it firmly the inner shell bends inward too much and cuts into the liner. The edge of the shell is too sharp and it shouldn't bend that much. In my case that's where a liner wore out and the shell rubbed before and above my ankle bone until it bled. It happened both on my feet.
@RichHayterSkater
@RichHayterSkater 8 месяцев назад
This is good to know. With my first set, I heated them and bent them outward. Initially I thought this made no difference, however, when combined with covering up the bolt, I now feel this would be significantly better than simply covering the bolt alone.
