Thank you thank you thank you!! I started skating again after 10 years (I am 27) and I clearly see that my back pain was coming from leaning forward. Thankfully I do yoga too and I hope I can achieve a good posture when I practice next time. Thank you sooo much for all your tome and effort to teach us😍👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻🛼⛸

It's been 20 years since I last had my blades on, and my 12 yrs old daughter asked for a pair so it can be something we could do together. I jumped on the idea, did my research and ordered 2 pairs of Rollerblade skates - not that easy to get in the UK, the variety is small. Thank goodness I found your channel, cause apparently the 20 years break from skating meant I started giving her the worst lessons, absolute opposites of what nad how to do. We're only doing it for fitness (my days of anything beyond are clearly gone) but still I found myself unsure and nervous - also nearly took out a fence trying to stop! Thanks for the great tutorials, my girl is a huge fan of yours now, let's hope with your help I can regain what used to be natural talent ;-)

Hey, you can skate for fitness but encourage your daughter to push herself and try other things like wizard skating, aggressive skating, slalom skating, sliding, but most importantly, encourage her not just to skate for fitness but to enjoy learning new tricks

Why wouldn't you have access to the huge variety of inline skates available in the UK? There are some pretty big vendors there in the EU, so shipping shouldn't be too much.

I used to be able to skate, but a few months ago I hurt my ankle pretty badly and now I’m back at square one, I understand the tying, I’m messing up the stance although I am fully aware of what I should be doing, and stopping is definitely something I have to relearn, it’s hard but I still have the knowledge of what I need t9 do, I just need to put in the practice, I actually just came back from a 2 hour rollerblade practice, I took a walk and found a spot where I skate, I fell down but I didn’t give up and I’m glad, I. Going to keep doing this until I’m back to doing what I love

I have been roller skating (quad skates) for some time now. Not consistently, though, but enough to where I could consider myself past the beginner stage.

I've just started skating at the age of 48. Never done anything similar before! I find your videos really helpful :) At the moment i'm trying to get on the skates every day, even if it's only for ten minutes. i'm gradually getting a feeling of being stable. what you say about getting the weight over the front of the skates really helps me here. i realised a few days a go that i often have the feeling that my skates are about to slip forwards, and moving my weight forwards helps greatly :)

I got my first pair of inline skates for fathers day this year and have been skating 2-3 times per week since. At this point I consider myself an advanced beginner in that I am pretty comfortable on my skates but my technique leaves much to be desired. Your videos are super helpful. For what its worth my skates don't have a heel brake so I learned using the T stop and it always felt pretty natural.

Halleluyah! After having my surgery yesterday on a broken wrist / forearm, getting metal plates inserted, I can say these points are not to be underestimated. Thank you for sharing. I broke my thumb falling backwards on same skates, and prior to that my left wrist / forearm in 08/2020, needed a cast and physio for months. Not having any break or anything but helmet on with my first outdoor skate was my first massive mistake, breaking the first L wrist clean backwards. Halleluyah, I did not need invasive surgery. I am 203.5cm tall and purchased the PS Next megacruiser 125s, as I couldn't really fit any other boots being a EU 48-49. I soon realized they are far from beginner friendly, the ride height and speed are one thing, but I have been able to learn to handle that. The biggest issue I've had is that the stock frame for these next skates, a great stiff frame mind you, is not long enough to be safe for someone with a boot / foot size much larger than the wheelbase of the frame. I've set the frame alignment further back upon advice from people online and in my local skating community here in Brisbane, Australia. However the physics of being on a smaller balance point to my regular foot, has made these skates so dangerous now I do not dare skate them again.... Perhaps, PS could put some kind of sticker or advice on skates that would have similar issues when you get into larger foot sizes, because it may help someone else not get injured. I do not want to give up on skating though I now feel like I need to buy a new skate or new frame + wheel setup. I've been looking at the MG Elite Casted white frame that comes with the PS Swell Road 125 Grey skate, which is much longer, sadly I can't seem to buy that frame anywhere online or in shops anywhere in the world 😔 Those frames may have been ideal for my Eu 48-49 foot size. Just thought I'd share with you PS, and maybe it'll help someone else who is looking at getting into inline skating with their purchase.
@fda8394
@fda8394 3 года назад
If you do not have good skating skills i recommend you to change the wheels to 3x110 or change frame and wheels to 4x84. 3x125 is for advanced skaters.
@SkatefreshVideos
@SkatefreshVideos 3 года назад
I'm sorry you suffered these injuries and yes its difficult to make skate purchase decisions when one is relatively new to skating. There is soooooo much information out there and thousands of skates to choose from. I'd recommend for you a comfy hard boot skate like Powerslide Next and 3x90mm and no larger (with a heel brake also. I feel you would benefit from starting over and keeping on your heel brake until you have mastered 2-3 other functional stops (form your highest speeds) such a Stepping plough, T and Powerslide. Too many skaters are skating at high speeds with no heel brake and stopping methods that aren't quite up to it (it's the biggest problem in skating worldwide in my opinion). So you are not alone. In fact many similar stories have come to my eyes over the years and I've seen people return after injury and become even better skaters than they were before. I do appreciate that your large foot size does limit your choices and that makes things even more challenging.

@@SkatefreshVideos Thank you for your kind words and advice Miss Asha. I truly appreciate it. I am not giving up. I am not a quitter and I loved skateboarding as a young child / adult, though 20 years or more away is evidently clear, especially when it comes to falls. I am hoping to, Father willing, change the frame and get a new setup for my NEXT boots (which btw with your tips ie booties and high heel gel pads on ankle bones are super comfy and supportive). The short 255mm frame is far to advanced and it may be amazing one day, when I have the muscles developed and skills to use them. For now though their lethal haha... Have been thinking about the new endless blading trinity frames, that are 303mm axel to axel and can be either 4x100 or 3x110. The other option I've looked at to get length of frame compared to my great height is the PS DH350 frame, that is flat and at a full 95mm longer than mine currently, at 350mm wheelbase. The hardest part finding the right frame for say 3x90 as you recommend is the frame lengths are soo short which is my biggest problem. I was not going fast at all when I broke 2 of these bones. I feel it's true about the heel brake (which I've had since 1st injury) and the stops (I'm working towards mastering the ones mentioned). However, the frame being shorter than my foot (300mm) is the biggest problem. I absolutely love the feeling of skating and have even dreamed of becoming an instructor one day, Father willing 💛🤲💛 thank you for your Miss Asha

Sorry to hear! There does seem to be a tri skate craze now and I don't think they're particularly beginner friendly. And as you've discovered frame length can have a real difference! I imagine I'd feel like I'm falling backwards on a setup like yours.

Excellent and very helpful video👏 I can recognize myself in all your examples😁. Just two questions: 1. I've been skating for several months but my legs keep shaking, I don't feel stable. Is it just about weak muscles? 2. What is the reason my feet and tendons hurt so much almost every time?
@PowerslideInlineskates
@PowerslideInlineskates 2 года назад
1- you need to focus on 1 leg exercice to reinforced muscle aroudn ankle area. Also check your skate if the shell is stiff enoughand high enough to support your ankle. 2- what skate do you have? it can happen that the fit of your skate are not adapter to your feet shape. if you skate are heatmoldable it can help a lot. I've done several videos about why skaters' feet hurt, so hopefully something there helps you sort that out. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-rn5WixdiaE4.html ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-TyOyKHJk-9I.html And yes your knees are shaking because your leg muscles are working overtime and they need strengthening. Skating will help to strengthen them but you can also try off skates trainings and general fitness squats etc. I also highly recommend you watch these 2 starter videos which will explain the knee bend you need in greater detail than in this video. I think you'll quickly see why your knees hurt when you try the static exercises and realise the muscular strength needed for even basic skating. It's pretty awesome exercise. After getting back into blading from a few years off not doing it. Is it common to feel it in the feet? I know you're not a doctor but I'm thinking it's just because I haven't done the sport for so long. The insteps/top of my feet were aching after. So I'm guessing it's just because I was using all those tendons and muscle more than usual because of the activity.

Hi just one question wheel size for beginners. I started inline skating last month my skates have 84mm 82a wheels .do you recommend a smaller wheel ? I seem to be doing ok ,but I am sure I could do better. Also any suggestions on skating over small twigs, as our park has very smooth surfaces but becomes littered with leaves etc. Oh , by the way I am 75 next week but have done a fair amount of ice skating 👍I find inline challenging
@SkatefreshVideos
@SkatefreshVideos 2 года назад
84mm is fine for a new skater, you don't need to go smaller. Advice for twigs? AVOID them or pick them up in your skate area before you then practice. I spend 20 mins picking up all debris on the ground before my classes to protect my students and myself from tripping in class. It's a good practice for every skater unless you are on a trail skating distances.

My skates are fully lace up. They don’t have any buckles. Are they safe to wear? I’ve worn them many times and they seem fine but all the videos I’ve seen have buckles.

I have speed laces on mine so I don't have to worry. I just pull up on the laces and then it's tight. just roll up the laces and then tuck them in the slot at the top.

after already 20 years of driving im still far away from mastering breaking, there are even some stops (parallel slide / powerstop and Magic Slide) I'm still not able doing..... So yea. It definitely needs more Time than driving. I can finally Drive on Any Surface really high speed and so on, Im finally at least a good stoper, but still Skating is a endless travel ...

Asha, I took over my father's inline skates, who has a wider foot than me. I tighten up the shoes as much as I can, but at the end I guess that I have too much space left to the sides of my foot. This makes me really unsecure when trying to drive curves while crossing my feet. I am missing a lot of stability, but perhaps I am just too beginner. Am I right?
