Nice vid! If your travels in 2023 involve going way abroad, come on down to Melbourne Australia and join us for a roll! Neither of these skates are readily available in Australia, would love to see them rolling in the flesh.
Hey thanks! Yeah, will defo be travelling abroad next year, as often as possible! Scottish weather doesn’t lend itself to skating, or anything else for that matter! If I’m ever in Melbourne, I’d love to hook up for a roll! 🙌
@@RichHayterSkater sounds like it's a hard place to skate. Definitely put Melbourne on your to-do list of places to skate, we have some amazing trails around here :)
Bought some MF500s the other day having watched some of your reviews. Not going to lie, I fancied some more expensive alternatives, but the price is so good that I couldn't resist. I do miss a tiny bit of rocker on the frames as they're 100% flat, but got used to them pretty fast. Not sure if they will take other frames? Anyway, thanks for the reviews. Can't go wrong at that price.
Glad they’re working out for you! Yes, the truly defo other frames, in fact, they’ll probably give you more options for frames than many of the more expensive skates you might have been considering. Enjoy! 👍
Would love to know how you modified your F4 ravens. Bearing in mind I probably wouldn't modify them which skates would you recommend if I were to buy one of them? the price is similar so not too worried about that
I just made some adjustments to the cuff and I shifted the frames in slightly towards my instep, I find this makes a huge difference. All being equal, I’d opt for the Flying Eagles, they’re very good skates!
They both use the same boot. If you’re a beginner, I’d opt for the MF500, as I feel 80s are easier to learn on. Go a half size up, but try them on first if you can. 👍
@@RichHayterSkaterwhy size up? Usually it’s told to have them exactly like like your feet. So if my feet are 25,5cm I should get 41(26cm) instead of 40(25,5)?
I always recommend the MF500 for its value and quality, but if they’re both the same price, I’d probably go with the F4. The liner is better and the frames are threaded. Both are good skates. 👌
I enjoyed putting this video together, though it was never the plan when I filmed each individual session. I still see skaters are very active in certain places. It seems like everywhere I look, people are getting together for skate meets! Even not too far from where I live, people are roller skating!
@@RichHayterSkater cool nobody out here in Miami. All the skate channels I used to follow have been pretty inactive the last few months and the resale prices of skates has been dropping like crazy
Wow, I’m Miami, that surprises me. You literally can’t skate outside here due to the atrocious weather, but you guys have zero excuse! I have noticed a reduction of skate content on YT, my own channel included, but I think that’s mainly a YT thing because I still see plenty of activity on Instagram.
@@RichHayterSkater yeah there's the big skate migration thing for tourists and then nothing. A few small skate parks but that's aggressive stuff. I see an urban skater once a year 😂
