Oxy-Acetylene bubbles filmed with Chronos Ring at 330 000 frames per second! Chronos ring is 4-10 faster than any other high speed camera used by RU-vid channel resulting some really awesome videos! Don't try this at home! Oxy-Acetylene is really dangerous and it should be used only by experts! #ChronosRingShow #Chronosring

UPDATE: We decide to change show's name since old name had part from old canceled trademark but I don't still want to touch any trademark things even with the long stick so we changed the shows name :D I am probably be able to change the intro to this video also soon. Behold the sickest slow motion setup on RU-vid, The Chronos Ring! It's 4-10 times faster than the fastest Phantom camera v2512! It can also do 3d videos for vr-googles and many other cool tricks! Subscribe the channel to see more amazing stuff like this!

@@Beyondthepress I'm sorry, technically each of your cameras is a different take of the same scen. So when you trigger once, you actually gets 72 takes from different angles, and you compile pictures takes with different cameras. So how is that any different? You are calling this a "slow motions setup", the "1 trillion fps" video also shows a "setup".

I think we had good luck with us to be able film that. I think my high tech blowtorch broom made the mixture on some points slower to make slow combustion possible before explosion.
@Nighthawkinlight
@Nighthawkinlight 4 года назад
Could be! But I bet your mix was correct in the whole balloon. The transition from slow combustion to detonation is common in certain types of explosives. It even has an acronym: DDT. Some explosives will burn slowly in small quantities, but if you get a big enough pile it reaches a critical mass where the burn turns to real detonation. I've seen many such explosions, but I've never seen a camera quick enough to capture it happening.

A spark plug placed up through the center of the metal setup with a simple old car ignition coil so you can trigger the explosion in the center of the bubble with no camera obstruction from a torch would be amazing video. The flame front would be seen from all sides expanding from the middle out in a hemisphere shape. You could mix in a little of other gases to change the color and or speed of the burn. I have used spark plug to set off items being photographed in the past and it just looks better without ignition sources in the way of the camera and you can trim the end of the mettle so the spark happens to the side of the center electrode and shows well at the very start of the ignition on camera.

@@Beyondthepress And the shot I am talking about where this transition took place was the large acetylene bubble. The point where the blue propagating flame front suddenly transitions to a shock and a yellow/red dispersion of flame fringes. That is the transition from stoichiometric deflagration to detonation. Wow Tesla500 really got in shape since I last saw him, he looks good. The expanding blue patterned flame front is displaying classic Rayleigh--Taylor hydrodynamic instability at the interface between the high density shock front and the surrounding lower density uncombusted gas mix, it is a severe problem that has bedeviled laser driven inertial confinement fusion research on imploding deuterium-tritium microcapsules for over 4 decades now. The sequence beginning at 6:00 is highly intriguing to me and appears to show a transition from simple propagating deflagration wave to a true detonation (the intense acceleration of the water droplets as you note is evidence of a powerful shock wave). I would really like to see much more investigation on what is actually occurring here! I bet with further videos you may even be able to observe other more exotic effects such as Richtmyer-Meshkov instability in the shock front. Most delightful videos.

With 3 cameras in the ring taking photos simultaneously you could capture a lot more detail in each still-frame, but (sadly) at 1/3 of the overall FPS. However being able to 'explore' the explosion with VR would be pretty damn cool.

Great work guys. Some really innovative use of the ring camera rig, and it gives you a heck of a lot of information as to what is happening in these explosions as a result.

This reminds me of how scientist say that a new SUN forms out in the vacuum of space...! Such an epic video... You all deserve an Emmy for this footage...:) I'm looking forward to the next video with the Chronos Ring...

Those blues are absolutely mesmerizing. On computer controlled IC engines with exposed spark plugs the porcelain insulators light up with those colors at night from the combustion. A very deep blue that gives way to a bright, brilliant cyan color under heavy load.

I had the same spark plug igniter idea too. I was thinking more a old gas cooker lighter but the detail is not important. That camera setup is just amazing. Great video!

330000fps/72=4583rps=275000rpm a.) If there exists a small electrical engine, that can spin that fast, you can film things like a standing wave in a vibration or a CD exploding from centrifugal force. b.) If that speed is too fast, you can still film slower with slower settings. c.) You could propell something by pressurized air instead of engine. Anything filming same speed as the rotation must be interessting. Even if you don’t, these videos are impressive.

it's really interesting how it seems like the explosion is occurring in two phases, at first it's just burning, but then at some point if there's enough gas, the rest actually detonates

Theres actually a term for this phenomenon: Its called deflagration to detonation transition (DDT)

It's amazing seeing the reaction cross the line between deflagration and detonation...
