Definitely one of my favorite lessons to teach because it just makes so much sense, and it’s so satisfying when a lesson like this clicks and just makes sense. This was a topic I struggled with in medical school, and when it made sense to me, I wanted to share it with others. If you take nothing else from this, most of the time increases will right shift. Temperature, acidity, 2,3 DPG and more, whereas decreases will shift left!

Thank you for making a complex concept simple , just I would like to say regarding high 23 DPG will favor tense state for hemoglobin rather then relax state ,as the latter state will favor co operativity and ease more oxygen molecules binding to Hb. Thank again for this excellent video .

As a neonatologist the oxygen hemoglobin dissociation curve looms large over my practice when we consider the intrauterine environment as it pertains to the development of the fetus and hemoglobin F. This becomes even more relevant when the baby becomes acidotic (metabolic or respiratory) or when we transfuse the baby with adult blood (not many fetuses donating blood these days.)
