What I usually do is build a hydroponic tile next to the water sieve loop from my bathrooms and showers, using excess polluted water produced by dupes (via bridge priority). Besides that thimble reeds are a waste of time to grow domestically unless you don't have access to dreckos. Dreckos produce fiber for free and can make plastic.

THIMBLE REEDS WOOOO, an actually pretty decent spot to put your thimble reed farm early game is your watcher supply. Your water supply can be used for a couple of sweet purposes such as obviously a water supply a farm for any plant that grows in water and a pacu farm, 3 in 1 baby!

I like how they don’t care about germs. I used one to handle my extra bathroom water, and it had like 2 million germs on it.

For early game, I don't use infinite bathrooms. Just put all the waste into reed fiber. Later (mid to late game) I switch to Dreckos for reed fiber. I like this method because it gives me lots of reed fiber early. I can give dupes nice clothes and paintings, etc Early on, without having to wait until cycle 300+. Of course, this depends on the water availability. This wouldn't work if water is in short supply.

Same here. If there's ample water, I'll add shower water to the mix. Putting showers in an area designated as a Nature Preserve can provide a massive +9 morale bonus while feeding a couple more thimble reeds. If I get a Pipsqueak or Pip Eggs in a care package, it's also a great way to start a ranch and a cuddle pip nursery.

I imagine it didn't make it into the tutorial bite because of the timing, but Reed Fibers are also used in the new Critter Condo, which offsets the Tame -1 happiness with a Cozy +1 happiness.

It's not necessarily a timing issue, it's just difficult to catch all the new details like this when they're small. I rely on my own knowledge and the wiki, and things like this can easily escape both. I do try!

My one “cheat” for my playthroughs is I always use indestructible durability. I just hate dealing with the worn atmos suit mechanics, not even bc of reed fiber!

There's a tutorial bite for how to use sandbox and debug mode. You can set up the same thing in a few seconds and experiment

I have a lot of tutorials and it would be a pain to publish and manage such a library. Plus the maps I make to demonstrate are made for that purpose and are very messy behind the scenes. If I simply published those maps they wouldn't make sense to anyone but me. Instead I try and make the videos clear enough for people to replicate by themselves, including one take references for more complicated builds.

probably because they aren't full tutorials for the game, just explaining a portion of it. It's not a full meal, just a single bite of one.
