I made your mushroom fries in a 400-degree convection oven. Great umami flavor! I was so surprised. Found a bunch of large oysters recently, which I almost didn't harvest because I wasn't sure what I would do with them, but your mushroom fries recipe was perfect. Thank you!
Great video Jen and Keith! Beautiful oysters they are my favorite! Have you or anyone else ever felt a sedated or medicated feeling after eating wild oyster mushroom soup? I have felt these effects but can't find any confirmation anywhere that this is a thing. only happens to me in soup form.
Just came across your channel watching a trad vid and subscribed. Out of all the mushrooms I harvest oysters are my favorite, including hen. I'm a bit north of y'all in IN and find them on maple and beach also... and for the first time last winter beaver trapping, willow. Thank you for sharing your knowledge and adventures, I enjoy your videos!
Gooder! I powdered a bunch of chicken of the woods and chanterelles last summer. Awesome umami secret ingredient. P.s. good to see my old jug in use. 👍🏽🙂
I'm learning mushrooms, hens, chickens, morales, I think I found oyster last week but I was not sure. If not sure then of course I don't wanna risk my life. they looked just like what you gathered and on an old dead tree. I wish I could share the pics here.
I looked them up and checked out several pictures and videos, because we have some growing on a tree stump. I made a video of me making them too. The funny thing is I got so excited about making the video, cooked them and then started eating them, and then suddenly freaked out wondering if I had just poisoned myself.... lol, but, it happens, and went for a few hours trying to pay attention to if I felt weird, but I did not. They are very distinctive in the way they look, but check many pictures so you feel safe, and if in doubt, dont eat them. Love to you!
