Whitey Herzog has a picture perfect memory. It's amazing in his 90s how he can still recall 40 year old stats and pitch selections and in-game conversations.

I'm amazed at the sharpness of Whitey's memory, 40 years later he still remembers the exact numbers of squeezes the team attempted and succeeded, exact numbers of HRs the Brewers had hit that season and all those stats. No trace of Alzheimers there!

The Wizard is my favorite Baseball player. ⚾️ Highlights of his leaping catches and throwing the ball while he was in the air never gets old. Herzog was a great manager. Bullpen by committee and stealing bases to manufacture runs was very effective e against better hitting teams. Example, 1982 world series against the power hitting Brew Crew.

Whitey Herzog is 90 years old and still sharp as a tack.

There is nothing more satisfying than listening to Whitey Herzog talk baseball, especially Cardinal baseball. As he ages, he is still sharp as a tack. Frank Cusumano once interviewed Jay Randolph. Jay and Frank agreed that the easiest interview in the world was one with Whitey Herzog. You need say something simple to Whitey like "You went with the right-hander, Joaquin Andujar tonight." Whitey would then talk for 20 minutes and give you everything you needed to know about his decision making process when choosing his lineup for a given game. The 1982 Cardinals world series team was so special to me. I was a freshman in high school. The Cardinals were in the world series, or any good at all, for the first time in my memory (I was less than one month old when they were there against Detroit and lost in 1968). I remember the entire city going absolutely bonkers over the Cardinals that year. Listening to Whitey and Ozzie brings back so many fond memories. Kudos to the interviewer, too. He asked his question and let the legends speak. Well done, young man. Excellent video.

You guys gave me great happiness with 1982. I understand better that Whitey and Ozzie were very key. I'm a big Hernandez fan and wish he was along with it right now, but he's doing well.

Exactly. Would've been nice to see him at the '82 reunion game recently. Hope he's doing well either way!
