OZZY vinyl reissues finally coming, but only in a $500 box set? | RECORD COLLECTING 

The Stones box was $400, I ended up getting it for $ 175 because Amazon listed it at the wrong price & I ordered it before they fixed it.

"Newly remastered" always scares me. Will it be loudness wars mess?

They should put this box set on cassettes for $50. I would be a buyer.

Wish they would release them individually. Want No More Tears and Ozzmosis on vinyl.

Out of my price range, why don't they do a record club where you get one per month?

I know many of you like Ozzy's music and I do too, but please consider the following before you put more money in his coffers: 1) Ozzy and Sharon are already gazillionaires and don't need your money, 2) Ozzy and Sharon treated some of their musicians horrifically and completely ripped them off, while they got richer and richer. Look what they did to Jake E. Lee, Bob Daisley and Lee Kerslake. There's no conscience there, no shame. 3) There are plenty of other worthwhile bands who could use your support instead of Ozzy. I expect a lot of pushback, but at least think about it for more than a minute before you respond.

Got one for my Birthday yesterday. Love it! All ready had orig press of everything up to no more tears. But it’s nice now to have complete collection, and I really dig colored vinyl win win. 🤘☠️🤘

Same issue with Weird Al. His back catalog is currently only available via his "Squeeze Box" box set which came out in 2017. Still no word on individual releases.

I have a hard time spending 100.00 on a album like most Japanese vinyl but 500 on ozzy I don’t think so . At one time buying vinyl was for the music and now it is more of look what I got a rare and hard to find album or just buy the whole catalog . I hope the way things are going it don’t drive away the fun of collecting and enjoying the music if it gets to expensive for people.

I hope they will let you buy them separate. If the box set was $200 I wouldn't mind but $500! The 3 I would love in my Collection are No Rest for the Wicked, No More Tears, and Live & Loud. I own Diary of a Madman, Bark at the Moon and Tribute on LP so thats good but still.

Not a fan of this kind of release, want more artist to release individual albums, I think with patience we would eventually get individual releases seeing how their is demand, most people would simply buy only their favorite albums, I'm still waiting for Wierd Al to do individual reissues.

question is, will BATM be the original mix and will ULTIMATE have the original version of shot in the dark? many of ozzy's cd's have been oop for a long time, so maybe this is a sign of things to come.

$500 is really too much for me. Love Ozzy but not that big of a fan of his solo career. Love the Sabbath stuff. But I think Frank should do it!

Weird Al Yankovic did the same thing as Ozzy and brought out an expensive limited edition set. Original copies of UHF and especially Off The Deep End go for a lot of money on vinyl. He never did release the albums individually. Hopefully Ozzy does.

This box set is a thing of beauty. The price tag, well, that's a different story.

For that price, all the albums should have been remastered, not just no more tears. Especially The Ultimate Sin, even Ozzy said that album needed to be remixed/remastered. There's not a single thing on this box set I don't already have in my collection, and I could care less about Black Rain and Scream, they just sucked.

Yep, I'll pass! Asking too much and I don't care for splatter vinyl either as the sound is not as good. This is nothing more than a marketing ploy and I never buy into them.

I fully agree with you Frank. I love Ozzy's music, but not to the tune of $500 bucks. I already own all the original releases, and I an more then happy with them.

For $500 bucks I would rather get the Fluance RT85 Turntable instead of a Craptacular box set.

I don't buy those kinds of box sets. That's great for the fool that is willing to spend their money or feels obligated to, I have my limits to what I'm willing to pay. Mrs. O well I have to get somebody else to pay for her face lift!

I'm a huge Ozzy fan once spay painted his name on the garage wall Dad not too happy about it. I'll keep looking for individual reissues I'm done with paying too much for a limited release on an album.

It's funny. I've been looking around on Ebay ... lots and lots of these albums from the boxset are popping up there with a high pricetag per album ...so people who were lucky enough to get one of these box sets are turning around and selling some of the vinyls individually...I saw Ozzmosis for like 1 65 $ U.s plus shipping.. - yeah i want that record but fuck, if I'm gonna pay that crazy ass price I'd put it towards the boxset itself

Music collecting as a whole is getting ridiculous...new release pre-orders are sold out by eBay flippers because record companies are only putting out limited quantities of physical copies... artist and companies are putting out ridiculously priced sets like this Ozzy set... a recent example is the new Tool CD was $50... for a CD... what's the vinyl going to be $100? To be fair, Ozzy probably has a lot of medical bills awaiting him in the coming years. Functioning livers and kidneys et al are even harder to find in the wild that No More Tears.

Well said I actually own all these records on vinyl already with the exception of live and loud,live at budakon, and the rarities lp plus I own both Ozmosis and Black Rain on single vinyl picture discs if they release those as stand alone releases I will gladly buy them but I don’t see paying five hundred dollars for a box set full of albums I mostly already own

I like Ozzy alright but just the first 3 to 4 albums which I have already. I have no interest in this.

I'll bet that these will all be available individually, but on black vinyl (as opposed to the multi-colored splatter versions). If you want the screaming colors and the "extra" LP, you'll have to buy the set. Many artists do this (the one I regret is the full Steve Miller Band catalog - also $500.00), but if you look, you can find what you seek. It's only a matter of time.

I already have it preordered, I only have 1 vinyl record of ozzy, no rest for the wicked. I think it makes since for me to get his whole catalogue at once then trying to get each individual record by itself, if No more Tears and Ozzmosis come out on black vinyl reissues I'll pick them up as well and that would be it for my ozzy collection

Well worth the money paid for this box set. At around $21 USD per record and the extras, plus the sound quality is excellent to say the least. If you're able to purchase this collection, you will not be sorry! Thank you Sharon, Ozzy and the Ozzy camp for putting this together for the fans! IT ROCKS!!!!!!!

I was lucky to work for Ozzy on his no more beers tour in `92. At the time I considered Sharon kind of a money grubbing bitch also. When I first met her she appeared backstage with a six inch stack of one and five dollar bills in her hand still crumpled and warm from kid's pockets. She had been collecting cash from the tshirt vendors. Didn't want to like her but she looked me in the eyes like we were the only people in the world and said " hello". I melted like a sack of warm butter on a hot day. She is a smart,fierce warrior you would want on your side. She works for Ozzy, not you! Go dry your tears and pay up people. He is a very lucky man.

How about the 10lp reissue of 1999. Only 250$ I’m stoked for the unreleased material but I can’t pay that for what’s essentially 1 piece of his discography.

I still plan on grabbing it, despite the high $500 price tag! It makes getting vinyl copies of the 90s era onward much, much cheaper, and the splatter vinyl(especially Black Rain vinyl) looks gorgeous! I would've replaced the live Budokan album with Speak of the Devil(because I think it's a pretty forgettable live album), and it sucks that it won't include Under Cover as well. I also wonder if the reissue of The Ultimate Sin is going to have the slightly edited version of Shot in the Dark instead of the original LP/CD version! The original one is 4:28 in length, while the later version from the 95 reissue onward is 4:16 with a measure of music erased between the first chorus and the second verse. I apologize if this comment is very long, but I'm a diehard Ozzy fan! He's the G.O.A.T., and I'm planning on seeing him next year in Cincinnati! Cheers Frank!!

I think it’s pretty cool and I would pay the $500 for all that but if I did purchase the box set I’m sure they would eventually release all of those albums rendering my box set worth half as much no longer a treasure. THATS HOW THE DO YA! Like they did all the Iron Maiden Albums

Just got mine in the mail. It is expensive but some of the albums like most things after no more tears are extremely expensive for an original. If you are an ozzy fan it’s definitely worth it. Also, would love to see a video going over your ozzy collection.

Apparently Black Sabbath just released Ozzy era albums also on vinyl a week ago. It is an interesting way to get money. Ozzy has ten albums + live albums + the cover album. But it is making way more than 25 US dollars per each if you buy this package. Somebody needs money. Ozzy is saying that vinyl is the best format...? It is a very good statement when you are selling vinyl box set and the trend is vinyl.

Outrageous. Are we in for a long ride of some artists making their reissues unavailable to most us? Very disappointed by this piece of news.

I know it's crazy expensive. But I am already saving up for this box set. I lost the chance to get the Queen box set when it was first released. Luckily they re-released it again a few years later. So now I finally have it. But I will not take the risk with the Ozzy box set and wait. I will buy it right away when it comes out.

Lots of artists/bands do this. The REAL question is why would you do this when an original pressing of every one of these albums is readily available under $20 almost every time you go to the record store and most that would contemplate this box purchase already own them anyway. They made the music...they can charge what they want. Whether people buy or don’t buy is their decision.

Yeah, I’m not spending that kind of money on Ozzy. I have a couple of his albums purchased back in the 80’s.

You pay 31 dollars for each album and you get the box, and the extras. 500 sounds a lot but if you divide it between 16 its not bad with the extras. But if you only want a couple of them, then its not a good thing of course.

This completely pissed me off. This is what I have wanted since getting into vinyl and more precisely getting into Ozzy's solo stuff. This seems like pure greed. Yes there is a way to obtain all his albums now on vinyl. But, the common person can not afford $500 and I am sure a lot of people just wand to pick out specific albums to buy and do not want them all. I just want the albums to play and listen to on my turntable. But, for the insane high cost of $500 this seems like something that will most likely sit on a shelf somewhere. I mean due to the fragile nature of vinyl would you really wanna play a bunch of albums you paid $500 for? Cool that these finally got reissued on vinyl. Not cool and completely bs is the fact that I gotta pay $500 to get them and can't.

I'm not personally an Ozzy fan, I'm not disliking, it's just not my thing. 500$ is a huge amount of money for music! I would not buy anything (vinyl, etc..) for that price. I have bought some expensive sets though.. I have Rammstein's XXI I paid something like 230€ for that, Sabaton's The Great War The Great Box Edition about 167€ shipping included, and yesterday I ordered Hospodi wooden box set by Bartłomiej Krysiuk's Batushka for 128.99€. I really would LOVE to have Ария - Собрание Сочинений (Ariya - Sobraniye Sochineniy / Aria - Collected Works) 16LP set, but it is something like 300-600€ on Discogs, I'm not going to get that... What do you think about the "special editions" of albums like that in general?

Well if you figure each album would cost close to 30 bucks each plus the autograph and case...that would cost you over 500. I get it that not everyone needs or wants all of the albums and some could care less about the autograph. It's still cheaper than buying a KISS vinyl box set

Some friends got it for me and I cried. My father whom passed away when I was 10 was such a huge Ozzy fan and made me the same way. I do understand the criticism and do agree that they should be released individually. However, this box set is wonderful. I can't lie.

Wow. This reminds me of when David Bowie reissues were out but they were very limited and pretty much all gone and if you any they are probably very pricey.

That's so crazy. The Doors did the same thing with their box. It's over 500.00 now. So ridiculous that bands feel the need to price their stuff out of our hands.

I would love to have it but $500 is just too much for me at this time sadly. I love all the splatter vinyl and his autograph would be really cool to own. There are just too many expenses right now to feel comfortable spending that kind of cash. It sure looks very cool though. Take care Frank.

Def Leppard did the same thing with their box set. Hysteria (the album I didn’t care about) has been available in 2 lp 180 gram for some time, but when they finally remastered On Through The Night, High N’ Dry & Pyromania, they were only available in their almost $200 box set. Thankfully after waiting for a year or so, they issued the albums separately and are super cheap on Amazon. Picked up High N’ Dry for just over $16 brand new. It was worth the wait because the album sounds great. Maybe if we cross our fingers they’ll issue Ozzys separately as well, once they realize the box set isn’t selling like they’d hoped. I’m pretty sure that’s why Def Leppard finally did

I don't really have much room to speak since I've dropped a lot more than 500.00 on my Blind Guardian albums over the years. All I can say is if you admire an artist enough, you'll fork out the money.

I just won't thumb down this video. But WTF Ozzy!!! Or chances are, some stupid other "legal" thing. But since Speak Of The Devil isn't in this box set. It's just not a complete box set. But at first, I was like, NO WAY! But after finding out what's in it. And my favorite Ozzy album of all time, is not in it! That's B.S.! That's no different then Iron Maiden refusing to reissue Maiden Japan for their box set. Not even something like a RSD Reissue, that I'm sure if they pressed 100,000 copies. Then you know they will be snagged up like mad. But no. I don't get it. It's like these 2 albums are the black sheep of their discography. Yet you can pick up Metal Machine Music by Lou Reed without as much of a hassle. Not to dis any of these bands. But I'm sure you can understand what I'm getting at about some of these things that some bands just seem to gloss over like, oh no. We don't walk to talk about that. Also, since they wouldn't put that album in it. Then why not throw in a copy of the live concert of Speak Of The Devil on dvd. Or why not just go overboard, and reissue that on vinyl. But it's pretty crazy how similar that set list is to what's actually on the Tribute album. I believe there's only 3 songs difference between the 2 versions. It's just another one of those. What the hell is wrong with this guy? And I would imagine they will repress most of those albums at some point. Oh, so, what's stopping someone who has the know how and means to press up bootleg copies that look just like these ones as well. That way, you can get that one album that isn't bothered being reissued with all the rest, so here we go. Have some bootlegs of that album for $30 instead. press up a million and there ya have it.

Yep. No More Tears is truly Ozzy's best venture. RIP Randy Castillo. I'd also like Ozzmosis. Thats about where my Ozzy catalog ends. I already have all the early stuff on original presses. Come on already!!!

Just got mine today. Was an absolute no-brainer for me, just had to wait till I had the funds. It's honestly the best put together amd most beautiful vinyl box sets I've ever seen. Definitely worth the money. I was in a good position, as the only Ozzy record I had before was Speak of the Devil, and that's not even in here. It's not perfect, but it comes pretty bloody close for me. I would have liked to see Speak of the Devil, and Under Cover in there, but I get why they're not. Also, Black Skies from the Dreamer single is missing from the B-sides LP. Apart from that though, its brilliant.

I have noticed some bands will start with ONLY the $$$ box set - then 6 months later they release the individual LPs. The Stones did it, I think AC/DC did it, Petty still hasn't released Wallflowers but everything else is out individually. I will stay patient and pick off what I want when they get released individually. I like the way Zeppelin did it - The Beatles are all over the place. Box sets, limited release, 50th anniversary ... In the end its all about marketing. Vinyl loving Ozzy fans might just pull the trigger if there is no better alternative - once those folks are done put out product for the average guy. I dont think it's a rip off ... have you seen what the AC/DC box set goes for? This just might turn into a collectors piece. Just not for me ... rip it open and spin it!

Love Sabbath and by extension Ozzy who comes across as Sabbath 2.0 in my opinion. As to the hefty price safe to say it’s well out of my league. Still don’t know if I can blame Ozz or Sharon ( for that matter) of out and out greed. Things cost , production, marketing , etc, etc. No one is forcing us to buy it , maybe just tempting us. You seem to have most of the Vinyl my friend so I say you’re good.🤙

Just picked up the Black Sabbath box set for 1/2 the price... didn't even know an Ozzy set was coming out. I guess I'll start donating plasma or something :-)

Well, I saw Ozzy at Donnington 86. Good singer, some good songs, but a terrible stage performer. He was also at Donnington 96. We did not watch him, but heard his out of tune vocals. He was over time and Kiss had to cut their set short. I love early black Sabbath with Ozzy, but not interested in his solo stuff at all. You said Iron Maiden pronouncing the letter R Frank. The letter R in Iron is silent almost making the word sound almost like Ion. You did make me laugh though. Gene Simmons was a different person early in his career. Now he is just money mad. Sad.

Same thing with ZZZ Top’ a Cinco box sets. Their earlier albums can be bought individually on heavyweight vinyl but albums like “Eliminator, Afterburner and Recycler” are either hard to find or nonexistent on this format.

This vinyl resurgence has turned into a shameless assault on our pockets. I’m more than happy to keep buying music on vinyl or cd for my collection. But this type of market practices just make me say .... “Nah, keep it, no way”. Not a big fan of Ozz without the Sabs myself anyway...

I'd rather use my $500 buying records at swap meats, thrift stores, garage sales, etc. More fun going on the hunt for records and come back with 10 times as many. Or I could just spend it om one Ozzy package and go, "yup, there it is".

I personally don’t think this is an outrageous price. 500 dollars for 16 records is just over 31 dollars a piece and that’s with for multiple double LPs and I know for sure one triple LP. And flipping the b side might always be exclusive to the box set. I guess the posters too if you care about those. Just my personal opinion though.

The so called "vinyl revolution" unfortunetly comes with revolutionary prices for these deluxe packages. Hopefully the majority of people stay away from this make it fail and then single issues will come out. Don't hold your breath though! We love Ozzy but reality has to play a part too.

While I’m going to spend $500 on vinyl, all on one artist reissue is a bit much. Apple Music subscription is $120 a year, so unless I’m in my music room that will be just fine way to listen to Ozzy
