Sickens me being from Castlebar that there are young and old who worship him because he done things for Castlebar! People can be bought and are willing to be bought to this day, little changes.
@@tolanwann i guess it's because they'd never been given the bare minimum, it's how people end up in awful relationships, "they were the first to be nice to me"
Yes but the continuing lies about his daughter would make you sick..she was an outright the most corrupt woman in Ireland .and galway gay contuinely reeled him in for the big fall. If you replay it back you would think hay was his best friend it was either that or gay just got lucky. He was sacked and kicked out of Europe which was a blessing..he kept making a fool of the irish people that night but unknown to him he was fu**Ed over by gay byrne..
I don't think Gay was setting him up. I thonk Gayvactually admired Flynn. He was a FF supporter abnd had Haughey on as a guest. Remember he had a whole show devoted to Brian Lenihan before the Presidential election which was won by Mary Robinson.
@@patriciabyrne5089 I think you're right. people love to romanticize history and categorize people as heroes and villains, but more often than not, they are only idiots who bring about their own undoing
What's great about the interview is that Gay led him on, making Flynn think he was his friend. Flynn was more than happy to spill his guts for his "friend".
You don't see that nowadays. People being manipulated and guided into getting enough rope to hang themselves. Pure genius by Gay. Everyone these days gets a sniff of something and jumps on it and the interviewee just shuts down and doesn't give anything away where as Gay trodded along played the good guy and guided Flynn towards his own demise.
A mark of the brilliant interviewer he was - exceptional. Thanks for uploading this, I still remember the reverberations, great to see it again, with mature recollection of course 😉👏
It was brilliantly designed to take him down.. best interview ever..little did pee think he was a goner that night. And he thought he was smart instead he was tarnished for ever and totally destroyed so beautifully..it was awesome
Hate him or loathe him, Pádraig "Three Houses" Flynn managed to unite the entire country - against him. I doubt I was the only person to yell "YOU PR1CK" at the television at least twice while he was suching(!) himself off on national TV. BUT - because Mother Nature loves balance - time for the Monty Python interview with Arthur "Two Sheds" Jackson. Enjoy... ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-HLjS3gzHetA.html
His finale politico was severed as well when he kept looking at the floor when pat Cox was speaking ..it dawned onto him maybe I better say nothing more. Why would political accountability not be promised when he himself was flooding with corruption
The flood of compliments in Gay's arsenal were genius! The level of trumpet-blowing by Flynn is hilarious - like a self-professed slippery slope all the way into the gutter! Cheers me up every time 🙂
Look at him in his pin striped Suit. I remember I was 12 or 13 watching this live with my family on a Friday night and when he made his revelations my father was livid
@@fergspan5727 I was really young as well but I remember it well. I could sense an atmosphere with this fellow in his pinstripe suit compared to the usual guests that would normally be on the Late Late and my parents seemed to be looking at each other in disbelief as well and later on when Gay announced that Gilmartin rang in they were ooing and awing 😄
@@keithp669944? I have the same memory ..and at the sound of cheers it was bed time. That sound still haunts me to this day and reminds me that god is going to come in the night and take my soul. 😂
If u look and observe p flyns facial expressions when pat Cox was on the phone he knew that he was uncomfortable with this call..this man took every decent mayo person to the cleaners..what kind of sins are you talking about he says to gay him the biggest sinner of all..it was reported that p flynn wanted to know what questions gay Byrne had for him and asked to see them he was refused that accolade ..but this interview really told of how a corrupt man like pee flyn stopped short of telling lies in the whole interview he really was a nasty piece of work..
This reminds me of the Prince Andrew interview, acting all arrogant and self important, thinking he's being impressive but has no idea he's actually damaging his reputation and career and creating his own downfall. The line "You should try it some time" really is hilarious as people as say on here, as if owning three houses spanning more than one country, a few cars and housemaids is akin to simply trying out the new burger in McDonald's.😂
@@tipperary1082 through this video ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-m0wAbQUMfWs.html but I failed to see anything specific that he could have said to make him vilified, even though he speaks in gibberish and seems untrustworthy the whole time
@@louismeunier6228 good catch Louis he brags gibberish but he insulted Tom Gilmartin and his wife. Mr Gilmartin before that night had refused to cooperate with the tribunal but after seeing this interview he changed his mind and came forward. Mr Flynn stole and deposited a cheque for £50,000 (a’donation’ to the Fianna Fail (Flynn’s) Party) in the 1980’. This is worth 100’s of thousands into today’s figures. Mr Gilmartin while knowing this ‘donation’ was questionable gave it anyway. When Gilmartin asked who to make the cheque out to Mr Flynn told him to make it out to cash. Mr Gilmartin saved a copy of the cheque, provided copy to the tribunal. Money was tracked to three separate retirement type accounts. One was in the name to his daughter Beverley who was an adult when opened. This interview ultimately destroyed the political careers of both Flynn’s. By the way the Irish government Fianna Fáil completely destroyed Tom Gilmartin financially because he stopped paying them off. There is an interview with Tom Gilmartin Jr on here too after his father passed if you are interested.
@@robertotoole1874so guilmartin was like. A kind of donald trump figure? (Before trump joined the people he was bribing of course) and so was guilmartin a builder? I had heard that haughy had taken money for the company that built the james hospital enterprise space ship hospital that cost insane amounts beyond what it would have cost to put it kn green site in tallagh. And the last government before the one now honoured that agreement even though it was known to have been based on one of huaghies bribes.
"I'm not talking about the Kerry babies. I'm talking about the more serious things". I do find the murder of a baby quite serious, hugely serious I fact. It baffles me to hear an audience member talk like that.
