Hey, could be worse. George Carlin recorded a special called "I kind of like it when a lot of people die" set to be released ON 9/11. Needless to say, they held it back. I didn't even make the connection until I saw this comment.
You mean the part when he used his head to rip open an Amazon package wasn't classy? I found it to be quite sophisticated. Also: opening a box with a sword... is there some _other_ way to open packages??
AYEE, YOU READ MY POEM!!!! Even if you said "Gasped" instead of "Gaped"... I actually say in the letter it is by "TheWheelman117". For anyone interested, here is the full thing: I once met a noble With boots fine and mobile But when asked he replied They would have just one ride “You see” he explained “They are just far to plain!” “But good sir!” I replied “Why waste boots so refined?” “They don’t quite fit the mood” He proclaimed as he chewed “At my home here in Leben I have forty-seven” “Forty-seven?” I gaped As my consciousness chaffed “FORTY-SEVEN HATH THEE? BUT YOU ONLY NEED THREE!” “The Third best is for work as you dig through the dirt” “The Second for parties to show off your smarties” “And the first best for walking Nothing else so deserving!” Then enraged I left heated My conscience defeated For in all my years prior None had quite sparked my ire As that noble in Leben With boots forty-seven
I like how they say they're going to be calm and classy and it goes out the window 45 seconds in. I love the chaos! I guess you could say Daniel is the Lord of Chaos? ;)
As a Jewish, can confirm “Jewish Mysticism” is *not* a problematic phrase. Aspects of JM appear in a lot of popular fiction and anime. One word: Golem.
That poem seems to be about (slight WoT book 13 spoilers) Matt's indignation about nobles having soooo many boots and him explaining to Setalle Anan (if I remember correctly) that any man only needs three! Hilarious poem. Love it! I remember this part of the books because I just read Towers of Midnight for the first time (and dreading to start the last one...)
Glad you liked it! I'm the one who wrote it! I have a comment with the full poem; and yes, it 100% is inspired by Mat. I actually said that in the letter, but Daniel didn't read that part aloud.
what I wanna know is what self respecting goblin says this series is TOO chaotic how can something even be TOO chaotic if you ask me, it's not chaotic enough
Lol remember a video the Goblin King made a year ago, the Your Assumptions About Me video in which he said that he was unfortunately not bi? CHARACTER DEVELOPMENT AT ITS FINEST (p.s. I'm so happy to see the Tiefling Queen back on your channel again!!)
Oh my gosh, Daniel, you actually got the gifts I sent you! (I was the one who sent all the Christmas Gifts). You can't imagine how happy I am to see you got those books! Though... I do apologize that I didn't make the sexual violence warning more obvious... In any case, I hope you like the books I sent you! Also, if The Darkness That Comes Before happens to get you traumatized... feel free to track me down and have your revenge. I'll even help, if need be.
When you were going all stabby with the sword in the box....missed a chance to GIF LotR where the Nazgul were stabbing, or thought they were stabbing, the hobbits at the Prancing Pony. lol This was really fun to watch.
"Can I just poke this end and get in?" Daniel is a far more mature and well adjusted adult than I am. Not even a "that's what he said?" Idk if I'm disappointed in him, impressed by him, or disappointed in my own depraved mind. It's probably all of the above.
Well I’m bummed that it appears my gift note was missing from the order. Daniel the 2 books from the Nightrunners series was from me. Bad book cover aside, it is one of my favorite fantasy series with gay protagonists.
Who ever gave Daniel Jinji Ito's shiver you are the best! Ito is like a master of manga horror and I hope Daniel does a review of that one... or uzimaki since the anime is suppose to come out at.... some point in time
I really liked the Lynn Flewelling books when they came out, though I didn't keep with the new ones. I hope you can see past the 90's artwork and give them a try! I felt old when I actually recognized something I'd read
I still feel a spike of shame whenever someone mentions being bi (yes I’m commenting on a two second portion of this video) because I’m still coming to terms with it myself, but hearing you be so open and jokey about it gives me hope 😌 so thank you. 💖💜💙
Definitely recommend Junji Ito's work (such as Shiver) if your into horror. Beautiful and creepy work! If you like Shiver then your in for a horrific treat with Uzumaki.
Fun fact about the Master of Djinn cover (although I don't know if it is still an active effect): if the cover is viewed through Google Lens on android or the google app on iphone it will pull up a neat augmented reality version of the cover that was like a little animated teaser. Orbit was doing some cool things with covers last year, don't know if they still are.
I was just thinking it’d been a while since the last one of these and was hoping ya mate’d be back for the next one. And now to bask in the chaos once more whoop whoop
Your friend gave you good advice, but I don't think there is anyone who was ready when they start Jojo. Good luck when you do read it, it's a wild ride.
The master of Djinn universe is really cool I listened to the short story prequel and it was good also that poem is familiar. Idk if it was Matt from WoT talking about boots or Wayne talking about boots
I love that someone sent worm. I'm about to finish it and I need to talk about it, but no one else I know reads, so seeing my fav booktuber talk about the first chapter would be cathartic
Dude!! The First Fifteen Lives of Harry August is awesommmeee!!! Was actually surprised you didn't say anything like "Yeah I've heard of it" cos I think it won an award. (trigger warning it has suicide, my friend never got through it cos of a sad chapter early on) And the author is really amazing, she started publishing when she was a young teenager, it's crazy.
Gonna throw my two cents in for Luck in the Shadows and Stalking Darkness: the Nightrunner series is a deeply compelling fantasy series which features queer romance, lots of skullduggery and intrigue, multiple interesting magic systems, and is set against a backdrop featuring heavy Mediterranean influences rather than feeling like “just another faux-mediaeval-western-Europe”-fantasy. I’ve read all seven of the novels twice and they have a very special place in my heart. Most people I know who have read them feel the same way so I hope you’ll give them a shot if you haven’t already; the first two books form one cohesive story - iirc the publisher insisted on splitting the first novel into two parts because of length - so it’s a bit of a commitment but it’s worth it.
It was an awsome video!! I loved it. I litle constructive criticisim, i wish you would show the cover of the books for longer periods of time. Dont just trow them without showing. Sorryyyy!!! Love you guys❤❤❤🔥🔥
Hi, Nolan Green here I actually sent 2 books but amazon sent them separately with one tag Spinning silver (which deals with Jewish mysticism and Russian fairy tales) And "the first 15 lives of Harry August" a sci Fi reincarnation story
I liked the last sun but it made me cry and I've had the hanged man for ages and... I don't know if I can. Also the luck in the shadow series is brilliant. READ IT!
luck in the shadows and stalking darkness do have very ugly covers but theyre fun fantasy adventures with gay characters so id love to see you read and review them!
ITS A MASTER OF DJINN! … Daniel, do me a favour and look up the Hardbook cover if u see this because the cover is actually beautiful, and the book is amazing (theres a short story prequel that is FIRE, too.) and also its gay and really, what else would anyone want. (I had to write this comment twice because my bunny jumped on my keyboard so hi, theres a bunny in the world hat just REALLY had to come sniff your face on screen)
Luck in the Shadows and Stalking Darkness are from the 90s and are SO GAAAAAYY- not without their faults (I don't find them to hold up to modern fantasy prose and they rely on the wizard mentor character a lot), but they're charming and I liked them :)
